Hi all, I've read quite a few novels here and there, and lately I haven't been able to find anything that really makes me go 'wow'. I'll list my tastes as follows so you all can see what I prefer Favourites (9/10+): Overlord (LN), The Girl Who Bore the Flame Ring, Zeroth Maria Enjoyable (8/10): Three Days of Happiness, To Be a Power in the Shadows, Dungeon Defense, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas Above average (6-7/10): Lord of the Mysteries, Oregairu, Girl who ate a Death God, Release that Witch Also just to add more context, here are a few popular novels that I dropped (2/10 or less): The Second Coming of Gluttony, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, Martial World. I prefer shorter stories, as long ones always drop off near the middle or end (the only exception to this has been LOTM).
It's hard to determine what makes you go 'wow' from this list, but I'll try Legend of the Sun Knight Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich Key of the sunken moon should all fall into the 7/10 ~ 8/10 category Edit: remembered these Atelier Tanaka (I'd say, depending on how you receive such blatantly dirty humour, it can be a solid 8/10) Cultivate your sister (few chapters, solid potential for a 7/10) Suka Suka series (depending on how you handle hard tragedy, it can go as far as a 9+/10) Devil is a part-timer (another 9+/10) Taming of the yandere (8+/10, though I read it long ago, so my impression may not be too accurate) Evil God Average (honestly, I am confusion on where to place it. Say, about 8.5+/10) Sss-rank suicide hunter (to favourites)
Ah I've heard a lot of good things about Legend of the Sun Knight, thanks for reminding me I'll definitely check it out
Kumo desu ga nani ka (so I'm a spider, so what?) has a great story, but the beginning is very poor. A book that is sorta like Overlord (in a very small way) but has been pretty good so far is "I'm really not the Demon God's Lackey"
I think these novels will fall into your (8/10)~ Pain, Pain, Go Away Parasite in Love You shine under the Moonlit Night
Just saw the edit, devil is a part time stood out to me. I watched the anime a few years back and it's definitely one of my all time favourites, but I never got to reading the novel simply because it's long, and as I've stated I'm wary of long novels as they usually have significant quality drop-offs. That said, would you say that devil is a part timer upholds its quality throughout all (idk, is it 8+ volumes now?) its books? Also, thanks for the write up, I've added all these recommendations to my reading list!
Looks like we had similar preference. Hmm... let see, maybe you'll also like some of these: Kumo desu ga, nani ka (someone already mentioned this one, you should check) Mushoku Tensei (good story) Konosuba (comedy) Warlock of the Magus World (one of xianxia novel that i didn't drop mid-story) The Tutorial Is Too Hard The Novel Extra (two kr novel i enjoyed)
