And yet, despite all her power, she still can’t stop the prince from harassing her daughter. I don’t know how I’m supposed to interpret this. Does the royal family have even stronger magic? She knows what the prince did to MC in the first timeline. How is she letting him anywhere near her?

Bruh, as you said, he's royalty. Even if they're committing lesé majesty in their heart, in reality/public it's impossible because it's literally treason. He hasn't done anything remotely dangerous to Rio (for now) even if they knew what he did in the past life, so they don't have any legitimate reason to refuse a royalty.

I’m not saying they should attack him or anything, I’m just saying that they theoretically could stage a coup by sheer military strength, which should be enough for the royal family to watch their step around them. It’s the reason many nobles listen to royals. The royals didn’t attack the nobles’ families to get them to comply to their wishes, but the implicit threat is there, and this is something similar. The marquis apparently has all this power, you’d expect the royal family to be a bit more careful in interacting with them. Instead they let their eight year old kid waltz in their home like he owns the place. The only explanation I have is that the royal family has even stronger magic or something, because there isn’t any other way they’d be so relaxed about possibly insulting someone who can freeze an ocean.

You're contradicting your own word. Not attack but stage a coup? That's still a rebellion, no matter how you try to sugarcoat it. And I don't think that's the result that Rio and her family wants still there's still Charlotte in the royal family. And showing off their military strength just to threaten a kid who (no matter how annoying he is to you) just wanted to be close to your daughter is, imho, petty and arrogant, which would make the king more unlikely to forgive them if they ever staged a coup and just plain suspish.

Honestly, best way is to either hide Rio somewhere far away with reasonable excuse or use the crude way of getting engaged to someone else better (my catboi Leon) asap so the royals and prince couldn't dip a finger on Rio. Other way would be Rio just plainly saying to prince that she doesn't like him and wants him to stay away from her, but this is JPN shoujo novel so it's harder to get my hopes up in this ever happening than the ori!Heroine becoming a nun in isolation.

I’m not saying they should stage a coup, nor am I saying they should attack the royal family, I’m saying they have the power to do so. And that means that the royal family is also aware of this fact. Meaning that they would normally watch their step around the MC’s family. When you know that someone has the means to absolutely destroy you, you’d normally be careful not to incite them. Even if they have no intention of attacking you, the mere possibility of it happening should be enough to make you be more careful when interacting with them. I’m not saying they should attack the royal family, I’m saying they have the means to do so, and the royal family knows it. Which is why I don’t understand how they can be so relaxed with letting their kid go to their house alone and possibly commit a faux pas. Even if it doesn’t lead to a coup, a mistake on the part of the prince could damage their relationship, and I’d think they want to have as good a relationship as possible with the marquis family.

Been a while :blobdrool: Im finally coming to a semi-decent school break so I can start catching up. Here's a short summary of 97-98 cause honestly nothing exciting happened in my opinion
So Rio and Leon get separated from her parents and maid in the dungeon. While Rio is freaking out Leon is busy stuffing his face. Talking happens and they make it to the mermaid princess who is at the heart of the dungeon. The answer to a puzzle they encountered earlier was about lighting a pearl. Leon told her to use her sacred light magic and that turned the dungeon into a floating island above the sea. The mermaid was the owner of the dragon and was reunited with her pet.

After the vacation/dungeon run happened Rio's brother has been busy entering society and getting engaged. His fiance is Tris. Chapter 99 was spent with Rio getting measured for her dress and light talking. Chapter 100 was focused on somehow giving CP and the king a tie-pin made of scales that Sylphy gave them(already forgot who that is but w/e) Rio and Chris just invited CP to a tea party and had Leon mess up the tie pin the CP already had so Rio can apologize and replace it with the scale tie pin. (Chris new if she gave it CP probably wouldn't take so Rio had to do it) When he received the pin he told Rio he would keep it on whether he is asleep or awake. Rio thought to herself "you should take it off when you're asleep"
CP is a weirdo :blobconfused: Charlotte must have pulled some leg work to make past CP evil

Rio ends up getting a letter from the palace inviting her to a royal ball to celebrate Chris's debut. Her dad said she can reject bit for some reason Rio is determined to go. No guests are allowed without and invitation so Leon is asked to be her personal guard and of course he agrees.

Rio asks if Leon's held a sword before he says it's not a problem. Leo asked if she new that her ancestor Marion guarded the boarder and she said yes. She took the time to learn about her family's past. Rio commented that Marion must have been good with a sword but Leon said she didn't since she wrote in her diary that she hated violence but was ready to defend her territory if necessary. Rio started comparing herself to Marion since she tried learning sword fighting on her own but didn't go anywhere with it. Leon picked up on her insecurities and told Rio just because she has Marion's soul doesn't mean she has to follow in her footsteps and walk her own path. Leon asked if he needed to reassure her more often and she said yes. He happily agreed. Everyone prepared for the ball by practicing dance.

It was also reported that Charlotte has yet to apply to the academy. Rio is still paranoid and hopes the scales she gave the CP and king would help (apparently it can be used to keep Charlotte's manipulation powers at bay). If Charlotte does end up getting light powers there will be no way to confirm it. Rio asks her brother if she knew the names of CP's knights. He replied his name was "Will". In her past life CP had two knights not one and neither of them were named Will. Suspicion is growing that the knight might have been the other reincarnation. Her brother says he'll investigate and to not worry. The scale pins she gave to CP and the king are supposed to keep Charlotte's manipulation magic at bay. CP's uncle the chancellor also seems to be plotting something. Rio is understandably freaking out over all this info. Everyone does their best to keep her calm.

Fast forward to the ball and Rio is escorted to the king and queen. She gets special treatment since she was friends with Chris. Chris practically threw herself into the room telling Rio to run and not attend the ball and Rio again declines. Chris made her promise to tell her if she wants to leave so they can flee into town. Rio agrees. After that they head to the ball room when the event starts.

Rio's brother hangs around CP till he walks over to Rio and Leon who is still guarding her. CP recognizes Leon right away and asks why Leon was with her. Leon lied and said her original knights were sick and couldn't make it. That is actually a lie when she never had personal knights to begin with. CP asked why Leon wasn't enrolled at the academy and just says his family can't afford it. CP comments that Rio's family would have enough money to help. Leon said he would think about. CP then of course asks for a dance. Rio said she can't since she hasn't debuted yet and didn't want to at Chris's debut. He replied that he asked his uncle and was given the go ahead. When they started dancing CP said she was beautiful. He saw her staring at the pin and said he's been wearing it every day. She stayed silent till the dance ended and tried to run back to Chris but he grabbed her arm and asked her to dance longer with him.

The music stops and an announcer says the king has something to say.
"Today, we announce the engagement of Prince Richard! We hereby declare that we will welcome Miss Catriona, the daughter of the Marquis Grandeur, as the fiancée of the Crown Prince!"
Rio is standing there speechless when everyone starts clapping, congratulating the prince while focusing on the both of them. CP tells Rio they should head to thrown since everyone is waiting. He calls her name again and asks if something is wrong. Before she realized it she screamed Leon's name.
Welp. This is not how I wanted things to go and I'm terrified for Rio.

Unfortunately the next couple chapters are side stories focused on various characters so we are stuck on that cliffhanger. At least we're getting more plot info?? I'll post those later but for right now I'm gonna hope there's a way out of this situation without making the royal family an enemy.

If you checked the threads, the most likely answer is ofc Leon since CP barely appears, and if he does, he's treated as an annoyance (but so far hasn't done any real damage. So, yes. Other than... probably stalking MC *for a lack of better term*, he's not a threat

I'm getting into the side stories and first up is Charlotte who is in the running with CP as most hated character in this story.

Charlotte hears about a story from a merchant who works under Baron Campbell. A nun was heard to have light powers and has been healing anyone with injuries. She could heal destroyed fingers even. Only those with light powers can do so and of course Charlotte wants her gremlin hands all over that power. Her pillage magic is listed in her ancestry so she knows she can steal magic from others. She travels to the monastery and watches the nun heal a man with some pretty heavy injuries that almost made her gag. Once the nun finished Charlotte walked up to her and tried stealing the magic. Nothing happened however. From what I understand she is either unable to take the skills of the light magic or doesn't know how to use the pillage magic yet, thankfully. Unfortunately it looks like she's fine being delayed entering the academy. It seems she's going to have her father buy a company in the location. I can only assume she's going to train to steal the nun's magic but who knows. Charlotte is still hellbent on becoming crown princess.

It's concerning that there are more people with light powers that the main cast don't know about. As it stands the only benefit to Charlotte getting the light magic is Rio won't have to worry about marrying CP but we all know how that ended last time. I really wish the light goddess kept some kind of records of who she gives light magic too cause Charlotte could have free picking everywhere for all we know.

Can guarantee it's not CP. The main cast hate his guts and his sister is not opposed to outright murdering him if need be.

.....yeah no CP is a full on creep and I am on board for any hate that comes his way cause reading this Side story legit made me wanna gag.
This whole chapter is literally CP fawning over Rio and commenting how beautiful she is and how he wants to get closer to her. He's also jealous that Chris is so close with Rio. This pov is before and after the dungeon fiasco with Chris and the other students. After Rio came back with his sister he continues thinking about her and how he's going to propose at the ball. His last words were in the chapter were "You're mine Rio". It's even worse in Japanese. I really hope he doesn't turn yandere cause Rio doesn't need that in her life right now.

You know what, let Charlotte get her precious light magic cause I want CP away from Rio yesterday.

Just saw there was an update, here's chapter 106:blobReach:
Continuing from the last chapter, Rio called Leon's name telepathically and be ran to her. She was either going into shock or having one hell of an anxiety attack. Her eyes were hollow and she could only hear her dad loudly protest to the marriage. Rio's dad is pissed at the chancellor for doing this behind his back. CP tried to see what was wrong with Rio and tried touching her but Leon blocked him immediately. Leon told CP Rio needs to take a break and CP had the nerve to say that the engagement is declared now. Leon was about to grab CP before Rio stopped him. She didn't want to always be protected so she decided to speak for herself and use her own strength like her ancestor. She asked to speak to the king and said the engagement was against national law and wants to file an objection to nullify it. When aristocrats decide on engagements, the royal family has to consult with the other party and that didn't happen since her father knew nothing about the engagement. The king was asked if he knew but he didn't answer. If the king refused the objection then they would have to go to court. It's legal to challenge the royal family when national laws are broken. The king in the ends agrees to nullify the engagement and apologized to the other guests. CP tried to argue but the king shut him down. The kings gets up and is leaving but not before telling Rio's dad and the chancellor to meet him in his office

CP is trash and that is the hill I'm willing to die on.

Had time to catch up with the last of the chapters so here's 107-109 plus 2 more side stories. Honestly a lot of talking happens so I can keep this spoiler relatively short
Rio's dad is rightfully pissed along with the rest of her family but the chancellor shows up to the house to explain himself and he said he just wanted Rio happy despite the fact that she hadn't spent any time with CP after her young childhood so he really doesn't have a reason to think Rio would accept the engagement. Rio ends up actually telling the chancellor everything about her past life and he's even more remorseful after that. He vows to make sure Rio stays happy. Given the error of essentially making an illegal proposal, the king puts him on punishment for a month but doesn't fire him. Leon ends up following the chancellor and asks to be put into the magic school. Up till this point the chancellor had no idea Rio's cat could talk let alone the fact that he's a god. The chancellor agrees anyway since if Leon becomes and aristocrat and studies at the magic school, he can just get engaged to Rio and guarantee the CP has to get his bride elsewhere. That is what the both of them are aiming for.

Is the chanceller her uncle we were introduced to during Rio's brother attribute test arc?
Why would he assume anyone would be happy to marry into royalty let alone, decide someone would be happy if they were forced into an engagement and learn the fact by an annoucement in a public ball with like almost the entire aristrocrat society. For the CP, I can just kinda forgive him since he's a kid who's immature with a crush but the adults who allowed this to happen? What is the king and the others who knew thinking, they were probably aware of the law but still decided to spoil the CP's request because they think the little duke's daughter will be happy? Lol, just say you want to have a political marriage with the duke's family and have a talk.

I love how MC's not afriad to go on and tell others of her 1st life and ask for help, but Idk why is it necessary to tell that chanceller as well, they could just told him that they don't wish to send their daughter to the royal family/ Rio already has Leon/ or just bring up the law and use the 'aristrocrat pride' card, saying like they do not like being left in the dark and that scene has taken damage to their reputation which causes them to distrust the royal family and seeing how the king spoils the CP, they and some of the noble family will see the royal family as one that abuses their power to their desires

Welp time for more spoilers as the chapters have piled on while I wasn't looking. Gonna do them in batches :blob_pompom:
110 was nothing f special just talk about the school festival. During their break however Rio told Leon she wanted to go somewhere and he agreed saying he had something to tell her. They to a bell that was said if lovers made an oath under the bell that they would be happy in the future. They both proposed to each but Rio asked first. Leon said he wanted to wait till she was older since she's still 13 but admitted to feeling jealous about the engagement with CP. Of course everyone was hiding behind some bushes watching and Rio got blessing from her whole family. Her father isn't quite ready to let Leon call him father-in-law yet.
This chapter is about the CP and his woes. He was sent to time out for a week (confinement) and admonished by his parents. The king asked why he didn't just go the legal route instead of breaking imperial law be he said he couldn't wait and didn't want to Rio stolen. The queen said what he did might not be forgivable but it showed how much he loved her. She advises him to go for her heart first (tough luck chump :blobhero:)
When he's out of timeout and back to school it's mentioned that there was a gag order but that some relationships he had with other did change. Gag orders aren't air tight after all. CP went to Sieg (MC brother) and asked if he could apologize. Sieg said while he doesn't want CP around her that doesn't necessarily mean their relationship isn't salvageable. As they're talking they see Leon and CP is told that Leon is going to the academy now after being adopted into a noble family. Sieg also mentions that Leon likes Rio as well and that means they're rivals (its cute he thinks he has a chance) The chapter ends with CP saying he's going to take Rio's heart and make her his :blob_coughblood:

The study abroad ark starts after these chapters so I'll stop here.

Every moment CP doesn't respect Rio rejection and keeps it in his head that she's someone that belongs to him my hatred further grows. If he would leave her alone I wouldn't be so hard on him but this is how yandere's happen and Rio absolutely does not deserve that. Doesn't help that he's a kid but his parents shouldn't be condoning this unhealthy chasing. I hope he doesn't try to abuse his authority to block Rio's engagement :blobpopcorn_two:.

So yea it’s been a long time since the last update but the web novel has basically caught up to the latest 3rd light novel and it ends up on the cliffhanger we all didn’t want to see happen but knew it was coming.
So yep CP gets bewitched by Charlotte at the end and acts like a total dick to our heroine telling her off in a snobbish way that even though he’s making Charlotte his first princess she can always be his second. It’s then she realizes he’s not wearing his protective charm her brother gave him and she sees the markings of bewitchment. So next volume I’m sure you can imagine is finally going to be the clash between our heroine and Charlotte. Luckily our heroine has allies so it should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Did he even have the right to tell our baby off ? They're not a thing in that novel right so why is his mindset like that even if he's under a spell ?

I take back my word, this child needs to be sent abroad to reset his mindset and rethink his entire life before he can ever come close to the throne

Making my way through the chapters again now that I have time. I have quite a bit of catch up so boring chapters will not be detailed :derpyblob:

Start of the study abroad arc. Leon and Chris are going along with a teacher to Hinoshima. Marie the magnificent maid of course tags along as well. Dark the shadow God also stows away on board since he doesn't want to be too far from Marie. Leon is told to keep his power? low so he isn't recognized by the native gods in Hinoshima. He went on board as an animal and was upset he was treated like one. He ends up changing to his human form and tells MC they can just sleep together. MC's dad put a ban on them sleeping in the same room ever since the engagement was announced. MC tells the story of titanic to everyone before they head to bed. Nothing too exciting in these chapters.
