https://www.novelupdates.com/series/above-your-head/ Boy born from a witch and an unknown being developes an ability to see the truth about all things, their affiliation, emotions, abilities, etc. Mc escapes from fantasy setting into a space mecha war.
That completely changes the experience. I thought it was just a writer throwing everything at the wall and it somehow just works. Now all the references, genres and tropes make sense.
I don't actually know what's from other novels and what the fuck's going on. I think at least some of it is from poor story but apparently the thing with Primordial Gods and the shit that made stuff really confusing is from other novels I heard at least the power levels are consistent though
It's irresponsible not to at least tell readers that some references won't make sense because the story is in the shell of a wider universe with pre existing stories. Or perhaps WW doesn't do much vetting beyond "Can we get the license for this story?"
So I've been reading this and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. So here's the deal, you need to be very familiar with sci-fi/magic/fantasy/AND cultivation genres to really get things. Remember the story is nearly all told specifically from the MC's PoV and the MC doesn't have the needed knowledge to fully understand what's going on. Like for instance the mecha game he's playing at the arcade is clear ripoff of The Last Starfighter (fun movie by 80's standards, hasn't aged all that well though.) And the novel is pretty fast paced such to the point where if you go a single chapter without action, you immediately get the feeling it's suddenly slow. Basically this novel is absolutely not for newbie readers to the above genres. But if you are familiar, it's a blast. I like the writing style of not explaining crap and just showing it and letting the reader figure things out as the MC does.
I got busy around chapter 25-30 so I can't remember clearly. How dynamic is the MC's personality? Like I don't remember him being a Bai Xiao Chun or a Leon from World of Otome games but is he an interesting person?
I'd say he's about 80% of a Leon, but more thoughtful. Like he starts off "I don't want to pilot mechs to fight in your dam wars" and slowly loses out to how much he loves piloting mechs. He's also tries (and fails miserably) to hide his ability. Then he's like screw it, balls to the wall to the point where his fellow Earthlings are like "No you need to try to hide your abilities!"
Great. I thought he was one of those wallflower types where plot just happens and MC goes along with things and just happens to do what's expected of him, just because. I'll catch up on it after some cultivation chat group.
It's hard to have agency when you seriously lack knowledge. It wasn't going with the flow so much as things happened so bloody fast that it left his head spinning and he could only react because there was no time to actually gain knowledge to formulate a plan. That changes once he eventually ends up in space and has some quiet time. Well changes a bit, I mean there's A LOT he doesn't know and he makes mistakes because he has no way to predict some of the shit heading his way...
The more I read the more scatterbrained it feels. Like every conversation that happens you're only getting half of it.
Shit hits the fan over and over Edit: scratch that, its more like a gorilla keeps throwing shit to the fan
Alguien sabe en qué capítulo supuestamente el protagonista le dice a su hermano que fue emperador?:JAJAJA::mmm:
