Did it ever occur to you that people misunderstood your sarcasm, figure of speech or jokes? How about the opposite that you are the one that did not get the sarcasm , figure of speech or jokes. I don't mean written communication.
I'm very tired of saying "it was a joke" after I make one. And when it's sarcasm and they misunderstand, it gets awkward... But nowadays it work out better I think, but it might just be because I spoke to less people this past year.
on speak language form it depend on culture, habit, intelligent of people around~ let say da people around never meet sarcasm, no culture on sarcasm or simple too dumb or too innocence~ da sarcasm will missssssssssss~ been there done that~ wut so special about sarcasm anyway? unless it treate as joke~ you know laughing is better~ muahahaha!
I know that well enough lol... I wrote satiritical literature on our college blog, and the local authorities hounded me. Everything had to be taken down.
You can use tone indicators. Helps save time explaining. Edit: oop I thought it was written communication
Sarcasm should be reserved for people who know you so well that the comment wouldn't even matter. Some things that come out of my mouth are very very very offensive. Joke or not, I would probably get like a one-way ticket to HR and kiss my job goodbye. It's not worth the risk.
The first one is too familiar to me. I don't talk much and have somewhat of a RBF people can't see that I don't always talk seriously. I used to get out of my way and sort out that what I just said was a joke or sarcasm. Nowadays I just let it slide, hold silent funerals for them dead jokes and see the chaos unfold.
You really need exaggerated expressions AND tone for that. Like drag the end of ur tone for twice as long as you usually would for real life interactions. As for online ones, you can use this: yeah, those pants rEalLy sUiT hiM! mix CAPS and smalls for the perfect sarcastic toNe!
