Recommendations I'm looking for romance with alter ego?

    For example, the MC likes one girl, but his relationship with the girl is shaky at best and hostile at worst. At the same time, his persona in the net become a comforting existence for the girl that makes the girl fall in love with the person behind the screen.

    The more the MC sabotage his (real world) chance to the girl the better. Also, I don't mind if the MC is a guy or girl, as long as it is not Yaoi.

    Hey, that sounds like exactly like the plot to one of the side characters' romance in Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun's main character's manga that he's writing.

    Well, that sentence was difficult to write.

    I only know some manga titles but not novels...
    Maybe this one is a bit close to what you're looking for but it's more into comedy: My Father Became a Cute VTuber Girl! If you can handle the... creepiness, it's quite a fun read :D
    Or try this one: Heroic Complex. Both MC and FL are heroes and without knowing the other's identity, they admire each other's hero form. Pretty interesting though it's a bit too short as it's just a 4-koma manga.
