I had stopped reading this novel for a while Spoiler: 61-65 The leads were captured in the mountains, before they reached the estate, by some knights who tell Ayla that they are lucky to have run into them before encountering monsters and that they should have hired mercenaries. They blush when they look at her. Ayla would have been embarrassed earlier but now she has gotten used to this behaviour. But before she can say anything Killian covers her eyes by pushing down her hood. Ayla thinks that he looks more like a demon king than a butler today.Seeing Killian's reaction the knights presume that they are running away to avoid a forced marriage. They say that they will escort them .Killian finds their misunderstanding entertaining but tells them that it is fine and he will speak highly of their kindness when they reach Kazan. Because of his aristocratic tone they think he his a noble. The knight commander Visut, hearing that they have come from the capital on such a dangerous path, thinks that they are magicians (there are no magicians in Kazan).Ayla denies it. In reality Killian had carried her and walked above the sky. Ayla thinks it would be good for the knights to accompany them as they were the ones to find Charlotte and Lennox.In the book half of the squad was killed on the way.Ayla feels guilty and reveals her identity.The knights have heard the rumours and are terrified but she tells that she is just travelling and trying out local specialities. They travel together but the knights are very alert.Ayla wants to become friends but Killian again covers her head with the hood and tells her that it is unnecessary. When they reach the estate the baron tries to flatter Ayla and talks of the rumours of her taking a lover and then goes on to introduce his sons. One of them is still a minor.Ayla can now understand the rumours of the Baroness running away.Ayla finds him annoying so much so that she wants to feed him to the monsters.She also notices that he wants to treat her as a count, even if she hasn't inherited the title yet, but isn't introducing his first son(heir) to her. The barony is very poor.The monsters also prevent the transport of supplies. The knight commander comes in telling the baron not to sell the boys to the witch for money. Ayla doesn't like being called witch but is happy to see him stop the baron. Visut says that Ayla is just talking of a lover on the surface, but will actually harass and abuse people as toys. He kneels before her and tells her to spare the kids as they are like his own sons. He tells her to take him instead. Killian finds this all very funny. But he ignores the fuss and makes tea for Ayla. The knights and baron keep fighting. Ayla thinks that the knights here are very just unlike those in the capital. She stops them and apologises for not announcing her visit and tells them that she didn't come for his sons.Visut doesn't believe her. Ayla says that this is all bothersome. This makes the knights desperate as they now start talking about how nice and handsome the boys are. Ayla thinks that the boys maybe handsome but they are nothing before Killian. She tells him to take off his cloak and he does so. Everybody starts to sigh when they look at him. The maid is flustered, and Killian ends up touching her as he hands over his cloak to her. She is shocked and falls down. The knights finally stop arguing. They talk about the monsters problem. They had asked for help but troops were sent few times only as Kazan was too poor for anyone to care. Ayla has heard of monsters living and dying on a sorceror's powers and wonders that the cause of all this was Killian's large amount of power. She looks at him but he just smiles at her. Ayla tells the knights that she will go with them and they go from calling her witch to calling her 'my lady'. But when she asks why Visut called her a witch and he says he just told the truth. Killian calls out his name in a low voice saying that he will no longer tolerate this rude behaviour. Killian doesn't interfere usually because he wants Ayla to act independently but Visut crossed the line. He asks for her permission to educate Visut and pushes him down on his knees.Visut struggles but Killian warns him to not look Ayla in the eye again. Visut says that Ayla will just hold them back as they would have to protect her, but she answers that she doesn't need their protection as she has Killian. In Ayla's room, Killian says that Ayla's plan has changed. She tells him that she now wants to save Kazan, kill the monsters and also prove herself infront of Visut. She thinks monster can't hurt her since magic doesn't work on her. But her sword skills are still bad. Today Killian was responsible for them not encountering any monster as he adjusted his magic to low levels so as to not be sensed. Ayla says that he can get rid of the monsters.He says that can't do so as he only has a supporting role in this story not a leading one( this is pretty meta).He says he can help her by leaving the Lethe empire. Ayla asks for a second option and he hugs her saying that they can burn down the forest or kill the nuclear monster as the others depend on it.
I was reading quite a few novels at the same time, so I keep forgetting about giving spoilers for this one.I will try to complete this novel in a week or two though Spoiler: 66-73 Since monster sightings had been very rare for hundreds of years very few people knew about attacking the monster's core. Killian teaches Ayla how to attack different types of monsters. He explained their appearances by drawing on paper. He is so bad at it that the tree he drew looks more like a lollipop. Ayla laughs but he doesn't understand why and looks at her puzzled. The next day all the knights are surprised to see Ayla in pants ( since it's the first time for them to see a woman wearing those) but Visut, for a change, sides by her. For the first day they decide to visit a spot less frequented by monster. They decide to go to the Lawton tree( it's the one Killian tried to draw). It is the weakest monster in the mountains. It's rotten on the outside but can swing it's trunk like a whip. Injury can lead to paralysis. Ayla thinks that the tree looks more like a person with two legs on their head. It is covered with moss and mushrooms and reminds her of a zombie. Feeling betrayed she looks at Killian in anger but he still doesn't get it. The knights start attacking the tree which dissipates into black powder( Supposed to be it's og form). Ayla is feeling embarrassed. She might have believed Killian's word but from the pov of knights it must have been insulting to hear her proclaim that she could defeat the monsters with no previous experience. If anything happened to her it would also be their responsibility. Reading her expression, Killian smiles and tells her to go ahead. He says that if she was to die from something like that then she would already be dead from their first meeting. Feeling encouraged she steps forward. One of the knights, sir Braun is attacked by the tree. It's poison slows him down so the tree can eat him alive. Visut runs towards him but he is too far away. That's when Ayla jumps in. The 'whips' of the tree dissipate before they can touch her and she cut them off with ease. As she is moving towards the rotten tree, it keeps opening its mouth and trying to gnaw at her but it's like it can't harm her at all. She cuts off the the tree and reaches out her hand to Braun who is looking at her in awe. She is smiling proudly but Visut can't curse as a witch anymore ( though he does still suspect her because of how the tree reacted to her and he still doesn't understand why she is doing what she is doing), because she did save the life of his friend. Sir Braun convinces Visut to apologise to Ayla. Visut starts grumbling because he is still suspicious of her but Braun is now completely sure that Ayla is some sort of saviour. Visut thinks that Braun is in love. Ayla had put up an air of confidence before Visut but was actually very scared. Back in her room She notices that the cut she had made on her hand with her sword has disappeared. She didn't have this healing ability earlier so she thinks that she should talk to Killian about it. She overhears the knights drinking and having a party. Braun is giving a very embellished account of what had happened. Like he starts saying that thunder, earthquakes and lightning strikes happen when Ayla swings her sword. Ayla is extremely embarrassed. Thats when the knights discover her. A drunk Visut approaches her and apologises in a tiny voice.This the first time someone had apologised to Ayla for believing in the rumours. She says that she will forgive him only once. Thats when Visut remembers about not meeting her eye ( even Ayla had forgotten about that) and falls to his knees before her. The other knights do the same. Braun lays out his red cloak on the ground, calling it the carpet of love. Ayla leaves the room in a hurry, completely forgetting to talk to Killian. The next day the knights treat her differently but avoid her ( since they remember what happened the previous night). They start to go on many monster subjugation trips.The knights begin calling her the 'monster serial killer' and the subjugation a 'slaughter'. Even Visit praises her because her swordsmanship has improved a lot. However Ayla is worried that there are no scars or calluses on her hand. Even though he often hugs her, Killian hasn't noticed the presence or absence of calluses on her hands. He thinks that she is troubled about something but she just says that she needs more help in her sword lessons. But he doesn't really believe her. After reading so many fantasy novels Ayla knows that healing is considered to be a divine power. She knows that Killian hates Rezerb( the God in this world) and she is afraid to tell him the truth. Ayla notices that Killian doesn't look happy. He never interfered but in the beginning would silently cheer Ayla on on her missions but now he just looks gloomy. He would sometimes pat Ayla on the head like she was a child. Sir Braun is annoyed by his behaviour. He thinks that Killian is not a good butler. He accuses him of disrespecting Ayla and answering for her before she can. Ayla becomes worried when Killian starts to pull his gloves off but Braun continues blaming Killian who finally talks back and says that the knights are using Ayla. Sir Braun thinks that they are just mutually helping each other since Ayla wanted to subjugate the monsters too. Ayla thinks that the knights are only relying on her and can't understand why Killian doesn't like her being near them. Finally the imperial knights arrive . They are gravely injured which surprises Ayla because they were fine in the book( I think the Kazen knights were killed off in the book). On top of that the knights belong to the 2nd Division. The 1st Division is the elite division involved in protecting the palace but in the book CP was so much in love that he send them to protect Charlotte. The leader of the 1st Division, Lennox however is still escorting Charlotte. The subjugation trip for that day is cancelled and the Kazen knights divide in two groups, one to lead the imperial knights into their territory and the other to search. Ayla decides to lead the search group which surprises the imperial knights as she is an outsider + an evil witch. One of them begins to question Ayla's motives saying that the knights are responsible for Charlotte's safety. They ask how can they believe her. Ayla is annoyed since the knights have already failed their duty. The Kazen knights are upset too, but Ayla stops them before they can do anything. She asks the imperial knights whether they would believe anything she says and if they can rescue Charlotte themselves. They apologise to her. The knights scatter at the site where Lennox and Charlotte are supposed to be. Braun runs up to Ayla wanting to go with her. She agrees but Killian laughs and says that they need a partner not a subsidiary.Killian and Braun start fighting again. Suddenly Killian goes into his demon king mode and Braun feels a chill down his spine. Killian starts looking at Braun from top to bottom and calls him useless. Ayla is scared since she thinks he is about to use magic. Ayla thinks that Killian would throw her away when she becomes useless too. She thinks that it is better to be thrown away before he finds out that she is the writer. She defends Braun. She quotes Killian himself and says everything in the world has some use. Braun is grateful but Ayla knows that she was actually trying to defend herself. Killian agrees and says that Braun can be useful as a bait. Since he was the youngest and least experienced he had often needed Ayla's help so he can't deny it when Killian says that he has a natural talent for attracting monsters. Killian tells Braun to walk 10 metres away from Ayla and act as a bait. Braun walks away looking like he is about to cry. Ayla keeps looking at Braun's back with pity and compassion but her vision is suddenly blocked by Killian's hand. He asks her 'why' with an expression that reminds her of her younger siblings who used to follow her around and ask her 'why' questions like 'why is the sky blue'. He asks for her hand and remembering the callus situation she reflexively hides her hand behind her body. With a tender smile Killian tries to grab her hand but she moves away hurriedly saying that she will search for Charlotte and come back. As she walks away, Killian's smile crumples and in a low voice he says that he doesn't like it.
Charlotte is so irritating Spoiler: 74-85 Ayla looks down the cliff from where Charlotte fell off. One of the knights tells her that it would be impossible for both Lennox and Charlotte to survive. Charlotte would only survive if Lennox would have sacrificed his life to protect her. The cliff is so high that Ayla starts to feel dizzy but Killian hugs her and pulls her back. Monster starts gathering below the cliff. There are about 20 'Rimbi toddstool' monsters. According to Killian it's a monster with eight sticks in a circle but Ayla thinks it resembles a spider which is larger than a human being. The main body was that of a mushroom which is a parasite on the host spider. It was very quick and its poison caused hallucinations. It was so powerful that Lennox would be killed if they attack him now and all of Ayla's plans would fail. Ayla decides to go down and act as the saviour again. She knows that if she goes down the cliff and finds Charlotte in the cave the next day it won't be that impressive. She wanted Charlotte and Lennox to owe her their lives so that they will protect her even if the CP tries to kill her. She looks at Killian for advice but he simply tells her to jump. She pales and he asks whether she is scared. He says that he can safely take her to the bottom.Before the knights can notice he hugs her and jumps. Where ever Charlotte went she was always attacked by seemingly dangerous villains.But this actually made her happy as some hero could then come and protect her. That's what happened when she was on the way to Kazen estate. She finally regained her lost confidence.But suddenly her carriage was attacked. Terrified of the monsters, she starts to run.She is driven to edge of the cliff but starts to feel happy again when she sees Lennox running after her.So when she finally slips and falls she doesn't really feel like she is in danger as this world which is so kind to her will never harm her. Charlotte wakes up to see Lennox gravely injured. Since she grew up in an environment where she was only pampered ,she can't handle a situation like this and starts crying. Thinking that she is worried about him, Lennox stops her and says that he is okay. Charlotte thinks that he is half right and half wrong. Charlotte is crying because he is injured but it is her own comfort that she is worried about. Her apathy towards the man who sacrificed to save her shocks her and she thinks that angels don't behave like this. Lennox says that the wound on her leg may leave a scar. She flinches but tries to hide her expression. She wants to say that she will call for help but can't utter a word. She excuse her reaction saying that she is too scared and leaving him alone would be too dangerous. Charlotte wants to survive but is also obsessed with maintaining her angel image. Lennox groans in pain. He would have fainted long ago if it wasn't for his desire to save her. He says that he can heal his internal injuries using 'ki' which is a temporary measure and not a cure.He asks her to explore the surroundings as Kazen is nearby. Charlotte finds the cave. Lennox rips off her hem to tie it around her wounded leg. Charlotte is disappointed because she thought he would do something special and wishes that either Septimus or CP were the ones by her side as they could perform magic. But seeing him collect firewood she tries to correct her thought process again. She is uncomfortable in her wet clothes and looking over at Lennox's hood and uniform she thinks that he should have offered them to her. Lennox is in a lot of pain. When asked he says that he is hiding his pain because he wants to protect her. Charlotte is moved by his dedication. Because of her Angelic looks, everyone had always wanted to protect her but here she was in a life and death situation. Lennox was the strongest man in the kingdom and she wants him to stay by her side for the rest of her life. She wonders if that is love but thinks that it would be a waste if she broke her other relationships to marry Lennox. She doesn't want to break her realtionship with the CP because he would one day be the emperor, or even with Septimus and the duke who had both recently disappointed her. She also thinks that Lennox would quit his position out of guilt for breaking CP's trust if they get together and would become someone with low social value who she would no longer love. She decides to keep him by her side as a knight Just then Lennox senses monster nearby and quickly hides Charlotte behind his back. He realises the monster is Rimbi and asks Charlotte to cover her mouth and nose. Lennox keeps fighting as the monsters flock around him. Thats when Charlotte starts hallucinating and letting out her real feelings. She screams for help and tells Lennox to save her even if it costs him his life. Lennox would have done that without her asking but hearing her say those words stump him.He thinks that he is hallucinating.She continues by saying that he is not the strongest knight if he can't defeat the monster. Lennox is so shocked that he is caught unawares by the monsters. He thinks that he is about to die when a mystery swordsman strikes at the monsters to protect him. Lennox thinks that this person is extremely skilled as Rimbi can only be killed in a specific manner. He thinks that the swordsman looks like a woman but knows that he is in no position to talk about a knight's duty to protect a lady as he is the one being protected now.Suddenly he feels a a warm hand over his eyes and a gentle voice telling him to rest. Lennox wakes up and his first thought is to find mystery swordsman( not Charlotte). He sees Ayla and starts to think that maybe Ayla has dual personality or has some unknown twin. Or maybe she was always acting before the CP to begin with. Ayla tells him to rest more before the reinforcements come. This is the first time someone is treating Lennox as a human and not some kind of superhuman. Before Lennox can argue she again puts her hand over his eyes and forces him to rest. After defeating the monster Ayla had first tried to save Lennox (as he was dying). She has a ring with magic in it and since her body is a Conductor she can pour healing power into Lennox.Suddenly she feels someone grab her ankle and sees Charlotte snapping at her telling her to heal her first. Ayla thinks that this Charlotte is like a monster and unlike novel Charlotte. Ayla had written a reverse harem because in real life she wanted someone to lean on. Charlotte would end up getting a scar, even though the injury wasn't major and Lennox would always be guilty and stay on her side. Novel Charlotte had been a very caring person who had no idea that so many men liked her. But here Charlotte is trying to deliberately manipulate people. Unlike how she was crying behind the duke's back at the casino, now she is glaring at Ayla and blaming her for stealing everything she has. Ayla says that instead of blaming her Charlotte should look into her action.Charlotte answers that her words are meaningless and this situation is just a divine ordeal for Charlotte. She keeps telling Ayla to heal her scar and falls asleep. Ayla feels sorry for Lennox, who was the most normal of all the male leads, so when he wakes up she tells him to rest again. After Lennox wakes up he says that he has never slept so deeply and that Ayla saved him. He asks Ayla to heal Charlotte's scar but Ayla has no more magic left in her ring since Lennox was more badly injured than in the books.He is feeling guilty about destroying Charlotte's prospects but Ayla shuts him up saying that someone who loves Charlotte won't leave her for a scar and would thank Lennox for saving her. Lennox tells Ayla that she can heal Charlotte back in the estate because she has divine power. Lennox wonders why she isn't aware of her power as it is similar to that of a high ranking priest. The people of the empire didn't have freedom of faith but Ayla didn't believe in Rezerb(since she isn't from this world). And because of Killian she never visited the temple and her powers weren't noticed. Her stamina and strength were more than that of a normal human but Killian never noticed because there were normal in his standards. The next morning the Kazen knights and Killian arrive. Killian immediately hugs her and asks whether she was successful. The knights praise Ayla making Lennox laugh. The knights jump to defend Ayla. That's when they hear Charlotte crying. Charlotte says that she is crying out of anger for not being able to do anything for Lennox. Lennox is worried about her scar and Ayla thinks that she won't bother anymore to change his mind. Charlotte 'innocently' mentions that Ayla only healed Lennox. The knights look at Ayla questioningly but before she can answer Killian says that Ayla is tired and that he will heal Charlotte. Charlotte says that it is embarrassing to show him her leg before others and that they should go to a more private location. This surprises Lennox because she was not so shy the previous night. Ayla is surprised too since Charlotte in the book would not have been embarrassed. Killian refuses to privately heal her saying that he only wants to be done with his job as quickly as possible and go back. Charlotte pretends not to hear him and says that she wants to continue their talk from the other day. This prickles Ayla. She notices that the two knew each other but never had the chance to ask Killian about it. She is annoyed and thinks that Charlotte is flirting with Killian, because she had told her that she will take away everything from Ayla. Ayla thinks that Charlotte's mere existence would irritate Killian since she is loved by God. She wonders why instead of Charlotte, she is the one with divinity. She notices that Charlotte can't self heal (she couldn't self heal in the books too but by now the novel story is already in shambles according to Ayla). Ayla reprimands Killian for not waiting for her orders. Killian is surprised but immediately apologises and smiles sweetly at her, saying that he only belongs to her. Ayla says that Killian can heal Charlotte but Ayla will also be present in the room as she is a woman. Since she has the special ability of a conductor, Killian won't have to directly touch Charlotte either. After Charlotte is healed, she is still limping. Ayla squats with her back in front of her, offering to carry her. Charlotte starts saying that Ayla can't carry her but all the knights including Lennox are aware of Ayla's strength and support her. Ayla says that Charlotte would be uncomfortable if a man was to carry her.
Spoiler: 85-92 Ayla is thinking that since Charlotte no longer seems to be as lucky as in the novel, there is a chance that she might die. Ayla had survived without having had to kill the CP, but she needs to ensure that Charlotte is alive too so that she can end up with CP and the novel can be completed. Ayla then starts to think that this is just an excuse for her to follow Charlotte as her ultimate goal is to shield Killian from Charlotte. She thinks that she has gone crazy and that it's normal for Charlotte to be swayed by Killian's beauty. She realises that she is being jealous and that she actually likes him. She stumbles and falls dropping Charlotte in the process who immediately starts blaming Ayla, saying that she hates her. Ayla replies that she actually really loves Charlotte. This is true since for Ayla her novel characters are like her own children. She wants Charlotte to be happy with the CP even though now that the novel world is real for her she thinks that a tyrant cannot possibly turn over a new leaf so soon. Even though she is being sincere she can't really make an impact on Charlotte. Ayla jumps on her horse. She suddenly hears Killian's voice and starts to tremble. He wants her to ride with him if she feels tired. That's when Charlotte starts crying in the bg because she thinks the horse is too high for her to climb. Before the knights can react, Ayla immediately lifts up the dismayed Charlotte and puts her in front of her. Charlotte says that she will have her revenge once they return to the capital but Ayla ignores her. Killian wakes Ayla up in the middle of the night and kisses her cheek. Ayla is confused but then starts to hear people screaming that monsters have entered the village. Killian sits in front of her muttering that the dark night will devour the earth and that hell isn't far away. Ayla can't understand what he is saying. He says that people are pitiful and it's all Ayla's fault as she was testing his patience. She realises that he is responsible for the monster attack and is angry that he is ready to sacrifice the lives of innocents. She immediately reaches for her sword and starts to change into her pants not caring about being embarrassed anymore. Killian asks her to be careful but she looks at him feeling betrayed. She grabs his robes in anger but he questions her reactions saying that he is just setting up the stage for her to act as a saviour. He takes her hair in his hand and kisses it. Ayla knows that this method will ensure that she would be firmly established as a hero and nobody will believe the rumours anymore. But she doesn't want anyone to be hurt and asks Killian to send the monsters back but he refuses saying that it's impossible as the monsters have already possessed his powers. He laughs and holding her close, says that everyone living around the mountains was affected by the monsters. He says that the monsters were present in the forest but people living outside the forest still died due to starvation or if they ever got lost in the forest. If Ayla was truly concerned about the people she should have had driven the monsters out in the first place This shakes Ayla up as she knows that she can't deny her own selfishness. She clenches her fist and not meeting his eyes, says that he was the first person on her mind.She says that he is the priority for her. She realises that she is actually confessing. Killian is now in every part of her life. He was the one who made her change so she thinks that he shouldn't be the one to blame her now. ( I am not sure but I think she is referring to the fact that Killian's presence is the reason for the increase in the number of monsters. She knows that their number will go down if he leaves but she doesn't want that to happen as he is important for her) She starts to leave but Killian grabs her wrist, pulling her towards him. He says ( in a low beast like voice) that she can't leave after saying that. He says that he can't endure it anymore. He asks her permission to collect his payment. She realise he wants to kiss her but screams that this is not the time for it. Killian however threatens her with the location of the monster core saying that he is only giving her a gentle suggestion. They kiss and it's a very 19+ version of a first kiss ( I am not going to go into details about that). Ayla feels like she is being eaten alive and tells Killian that nobody kisses in this way.So he asks her to teach him how to because this is also the First time for him (remember he can't touch people?).However she had thought that he would have had some experience with other sorcerors. He keeps trying to kiss her and licks her palm when she puts it over his mouth in order to dissuade him. She asks about the core realising that Killian had withheld that info for so many days in order to blackmail her. Killian says that she is neglecting her priorities ( mate, there are people dying out there).He tells her that a copy puppet (a shapeless ghost type monster)is the core. Ayla tries to leave but Killian still doesn't let her go saying that the MC has to appear late for dramatic purposes. He says that the monster are still outside the gates of the territory and the fire is magical and won't burn people. She realises that Killian was fooling her all along. He tells her that he can't do anything that would make her hate him. She asks why he kissed her( as she is still scared of being abandoned by him). He stares back at her and asks if she will tell him her secrets and not run away. She shakes her head and they decide to agree that they just kissed on an impulse. Ayla beckons him to come closer so that she can teach him how to kiss and they kiss again. Lennox And Visut are talking about the monsters. Lennox asks if Killian can heal the injured knights but Visut replies that Killian only works on Ayla's order. Charlotte runs up to Lennox and hugs him, saying that she is scared. Lennox thinks that the citizens would be more scared than her and tries to push her off but stops when he sees her trembling. He asks about Ayla, which immediately makes Charlotte go all stiff. Visut says that they shouldn't disturb Ayla but his expression makes Lennox suspect that he Has been brainwashed( pretty obvious who is behind this). He hurries to Ayla's room and feels a magical power quite different from mana around it. He opens her door and finds another door which leads to another door and so on. He is confused. Lennox finally decides that he has to leave since there is no more time left . Charlotte says that she will go out to. Lennox, who is sincerely curious, asks her about what she can do. She can't answer as this wasn't a reaction she had expected. Feeling annoyed Lennox says that he can't understand her and asks if this was just a game for her. He tells her that if not for Ayla, both of them would have been dead. Lennox has finally started to notice trivial things he had earlier not noticed about Charlotte, especially about her contradictory nature. She would say that they she doesn't want to fight or see anyone hurt but wouldn't flinch if someone dies in front of her. She acts all pitiful but hasn't really ever lost anything. He realises that Charlotte is selfish like any other human not an angel . He knows that it's not her fault but can't help but feel disappointed.He tells her that he has finally seen her real face. Charlotte can't understand what Lennox means. People wanted a angel like figure and she had given it to them. In the observation tower she is trying to persuade the knights to let her go into the warzone. The knights are unhappy to see their lovely lady cry but know that they can't allow her to go down. The knights talk about Ayla and praise her much to Charlotte's anger. Lennox and the knights are losing. Lennox thinks that Ayla has so much divine power that she is purifying the monsters without noticing. He doesn't want to reveal her secret but knows that he has to in the worst scenario. Upon realising that they are facing copy monsters, he decides to sacrifice himself. Any wound on his body would be transferred onto the monster and a wound on the monster on to him. He decides to buy enough time for the other knights to fetch get Ayla. He is about to be swarmed by the monsters when Ayla, on her horse, jumps in front of him and cuts them down.
Thank you so much for the spoilers! I agree that Charlotte’s incredibly irritating, but I for one find it really interesting how she had a moment of realization, when she noticed that she lacked any empathy for those around her, and actually got scared at the prospect. Usually when a ‘heroine’ acts the way she does, it’s because she thinks that the world revolves around her and that others don’t matter. But here we can clearly see that she realizes her behavior isn’t normal. She doesn’t act that way because she thinks everything is about her. She acts that way because she feels that’s what’s expected of her. But why does she feel that way? Why does she act like she’s performing for an audience?
True. The word 'self awareness' is infact used when Charlotte is having her epiphany. She knows her feelings are wrong. Though she is more shocked than scared as she justifies her actions the next moment. In her own words, she has actually got so used to putting up an act that it has actually become a part of her personality. That's why she feels Lennox's words don't make any sense.
One possibility is that the world is trying to force events to go a certain way. Charlotte, being the main character, has to behave in a certain way, even if she normally wouldn’t want to. If that’s the case, that would mean that she went through one of the most horrifying experiences out of all the characters as the world forcefully overwrote her original personality to suit its needs. It's like Lennox said, for her this is just a game. She will put herself in danger and act all pitiful expecting someone to save her because that's how it has always been since her childhood
Oooh ok! I thought that she just didn’t care about getting into trouble and did what she wanted because she knew she would be saved. I didn’t realize that she was actually trying to put herself in those positions. That’s explains it then!

Spoiler: 92-96 Ayla is angry for some reason ( that I couldn't understand). Lennox thinks that she is angry because he was putting his life at risk again. In the same way he was angry at Charlotte for putting herself at risk again and again. He thinks that his overconfidence on his skills has put a burden on others. That he should have arranged for holy water the moment he heard that the number of monsters had increased. He apologizes to Ayla and tells her that he will not be too proud and would work harder. Ayla is too busy fighting the monsters and just nods along annoyed at him talking. Lennox however is happy by her answer because he thinks that there is sincerity in its simplicity. Killian arrives, riding on his horse, so leisurely across the battlefield that everyone assumes he is on a holiday. He heals some of the knights.Ayla decides to go into the mountains with Killian to destroy the core. The knights start to argue but stop when Ayla points at Killian ( since they know that none of them are comparable to him). Ayla reveals that she came to their territory to destroy the monsters. This makes them salute her as she rides off into the mountains. Ayla is very embarrassed as she keeps remembering the kiss. Soon however the atmosphere between both of them becomes very cold as Killian ask about her hand. She realises that she had run her hands over his body while they were kissing and so he knows about the absence of calluses. He says that he had noticed her divine powers increasing and is angry that Lennox knew about it before him. He is actually glad since he was worried his powers won't be enough to heal her. He kisses her palm and tells her that it doesn't matter to him where she has come from or who she is (unless she is Rezerb himself) Ayla wonders why Killian hates Rezerb but is too scared to ask. She asks him if the only deal-breaker is if she is God and he smiles and answers yes. She immediately regrets asking that question as it is getting more and more difficult for her to lie. She wonders if she can really be called a god since even though this world has been created by her she can't use divine power( because the divine power that humans have is also borrowed from God at the end). She hears the sound of the core monster. This surprises Killian at first but then he thinks that it's not surprising because of the large amount of Rezerb's powers in her.She quickly destroys the monster and regrets it because now she has to continue on with her conversation with Killian. Killian asks whether she is an angel. Initially surprised, she later realises that he is not joking. Killian says that they are God's messenger who often come to him to deliver Rezerb's messages. He calls them very inflexible, so much so that he is at the limit of his patience while dealing with them. Killian wonders if she is an angel favoured by God and sent to ruin him. Spoiler: I'm not sure about this part. Things will probably become clearer later on So Ayla wonders if Killian is the fallen angel or Lucifer. This could now make him a character in her novel Killian tells her that when an angel sins, their memories are erased or replaced before they are dropped into the human world. If they fill certain conditions they can go back. Ayla wonders how he knows all this. Ayla asks what will happen if she was an angel and without hesitating he replies that he will bring her down to hell with him El Dorado was akingdom 500 years ago.It was also known as the holy golden city and was destroyed by evil sorcerors. Ayla asks whether Killian is the king of sorcerors and the one to destroy the city and he answers that whatever she is thinking is the correct answer. Ayla reveals that she knew it all along and was pretending to not know. There were many hints. Killian would sometimes talk as if he had lived a long time. An archmage like Septimus wouldn't be afraid of a normal sorceror nor would a normal sorceror be able to attract so many monsters. She wonders how he is still alive since even blessed people can't live beyond 150 years. Killian laughs and answers that it was because he despised God. Ayla thinks that someone like Killian won't destroy an entire city for no reason. She tells Killian that she is not curious about why he is being punished but about the reasons of his actions. He makes a strange face before laughing and kissing her saying that she is someone who can never be Rezerb. Ayla realises that he had once suspected her to be God. She thinks that it means he would never actually accept her being God. Finally letting out her honest feelings she says that she is not sure about what she is. She tells him that she never got any divine revelations but he answers that he already knew because Rezerb doesn't release something like a 'revelation'. She asks if she is some other unknown God. Killian answers that it's not true since she is very human. He says humans can be unfair but not Gods. God have to move in a very strict fashion because the only ending for an altruistic God would be death. Ayla is given a hero's welcome. She praises everyone from the baron and his son to the knights. The baron tries to sell his son of again Ayla stops him saying that since he trusts his son so much he should transfer the responsibility of the estate to him and wait still the public sentiments against him have disappeared. Lennox and a very quiet Charlotte leave for the Angelo estate. Lennox praises Ayla and says that he will recommend her name for the imperial award. He says that nobody would have been able to deal with the monsters without the help of an expensive, high ranking priest. He says that he is going to give info about the monsters to other territories. He asks whether she would go to the temple or not. Ayla has now realised that Killian is important to her and that she is to scared to know about what she really is. She no longer wants to go to temple. Lennox says that he will keep her secret and asks her to contact him if she needs. Killian is sorting through the presents Ayla has received. He finds a underwear made of transparent material and teases her with it.She tries to throw it away but he tells her that she shouldn't discriminate between her presents. She decides to throw it the moment she goes home. Ayla finally receives the letters that were blocked due to the monster. Many of these letters were from Aslan who was worried about her. As she is reading the letters Aslan arrives. Aslan thought that she had run away because he had lied to her ( their last conversation was about the novelist Linte). He runs away when she answers that she doesn't know what he is talking about.Killian smiles and tells her that she doesn't notice what is in front of her. Ayla follows Aslan. The carriage he had brought is filled with Linte's book, including limited editions and signed ones. Ayla wants to read the atmosphere is too awkward. She tells Aslan that she came to Kazen to subjugate the monster to prove her strength. But Aslan is very suspicious as the duke has no relationship with the Kazen estate and she had not brought a single knight with her. He is also suspicious of Killian since there had been no mention of his healing powers in his resume. Ayla immediately defends Killian because she doesn't want Aslan to keep looking into Killian as every thing about his identity was fake. She says that Killian is weak and useless and only has some healing power. Aslan asks why she didn't inform him before leaving and Ayla answers that their father knew and that she is starting to think that their biggest problem is lack of communication ( aka biggest problem for every knovel family)
