Most cultivation novels tend to take place in a medieval china or Asia analogue. So, what I am looking for are novels where cultivation has existed for untold amounts of time and to naturally fit change of time, technology has evolved with it. I am talking stuff like Dao mech suits, Hyperbolic Time Chambers made with technology, dantian core surgery, etc. Essentially a world where cultivation and technology have become intertwined. Don't mind if mc is male or female, only requirement for mc is not for it to be a harem.
There’s a lot of ‘Sci-fi’ cultivation novels. But they only ever amount to having access to some internet analogue and/phones. Maybe some sufficiently ‘sciencey’ terms bandied about. Everything else is pretty much the same and at the end of the day it still comes down to who can punch harder (perhaps with some different visual effects). Daily Life of an Immortal King (a Saiki Kusuo ripoff) is actually not that bad I guess.
Soul Land 3 (The Legend of the Dragon King) and Soul Land 4 (Ultimate Fighting) are both futuristic cultivation novels. 3 is more of a modern setting and 4 is more of an interstellar futuristic setting.
It's not easy to be a man after travelling to the future Cultivation in a sci-fi world with mecha, spaceship, etc... MC start as a baby and has a lot of advantage which make her grow way stronger than people at her age (but some adults are stronger than her). MC is female but disguised as a man for almost the entire story.
Do u need to read the prior works? Because I sincerely never liked Soul Land 1 and couldn't read the 2 as that was a direct sequel to the first. I have always been interested if Soul Land 3 because I liked the description and people have mentioned that the MC powers are base on Dragons and I like dragons. So do I need to read the prior books to jump into Soul Land 3?
Does the soul land 3 need the first two to be read to understand it? I read the first one so long ago but left it unfinished.
wasn't that the one where the mc's dad forced the mom to make their daughter a son and then after coming back from his supposed death changed his mind and wanted his daughter to act like a daughter?
Well, she disguised as a man to get her father inheritance after his death, she was never forced. When he came back alive, he only wanted to dote on her and make her happy. However, he didn't know that she was a girl so he enlisted her in a school for boys, so she had no choice but to continue disguising as a man.
No, you don't have to read the prior works. Each soul land novel features a new MC and time period (each novel takes place 10,000 years after the last one). Since the setting is the same civilization, just set at different time periods you will get occasional references to past characters or events. Reading the prior works only helps you in understanding the setting/background better, and each individual work can stand on it's own. I will add that 3 and 4 are especially close since a few characters from 3 make an appearance in 4 (which can make reading 4 more enjoyable). But it's definitely not required to read the soul land series in chronological order.
This is exactly what you're looking for. MC grew up in a dump, learning how to fix Cultivation Technology that was thrown away for money to survive, manages to fix malnutrition problems with his meridians using a black-market drug, and then proceeds to become an ancient-type crafter cultivator. Why an ancient-type instead of a modern type? Because modern type Cultivator's are hyper specialised, with Administration Types, Close Combat Types, Ranged Combat Types, and, yes, Crafter Types, to name some of the more common Types. Ancient-Crafter-Type's were generalists who both made their weapons & tools, and fought with them. Also, the MC has a cheat that he only manages to start exploiting after certain events that allows him to learn Ancient-Crafter-Type personal training methods. Personally, I feel like Soul Land 2, 3 & 4 all fit this request. The Soul Land Series all basically follow the story of a civilisation. Soul Land 1 is an introduction to the world, the problems it will face, and then it focuses on the MC. Soul Land 2 introduces Cultivation Technology, and I, personally, feel like the story keeps Cultivation Technology, as at least a weapon, as a relevant story point for... over half the story (I haven't read all of it, but I have noticed that towards the end of this series, everything but how incredibly over powered the MC is, and whatever the latest "problem" to solve is, tends to fall to the wayside anyway). For Soul Land 3, the world has developed enough that Cultivation Technology has advanced to the point where Mech Battle Suits are common military weaponry and artificial methods pass the threshold limiters have been created (instead of killing animals who have lived for hundreds to thousands of years). And for Soul Land 4, the civilisation has advanced to outer space, space ship combat is commonplace, and so forth. The only "issue" of reading these stories out of order is receiving minor spoilers about the repercussions of events in earlier stories. You said that you've read Soul Land 1, though you dropped it. Did you get up to Shrek Academy? Because Shrek Academy has become an undisputed major powerhouse of an education system in Soul Land 2, to the point of being politically untouchable. Everything else will be introduced in each story whenever it's relevant, though you may miss some hints and foreshadowing about things continuing from previous stories.
I remember up to the point where the mc was going through a trial for the ocean god or something like that. I think shrek academy was made by then.
