Apparently a virgin protagonist in a world full of sex is a thing?

I'm somewhat tired of this bullshit, but surprisingly, quiet a few good/popular novels have similar pattern.

No matter where MC goes or what/whom he encounters it will be somehow related to sex.

    • Going to destroy thugs in some dark corner of the city? They will be in the middle of an orgy when protagonist arrives.
    • Random bandits will throw dirty jokes at protagonist, or something full of innuendos.
    • Assaulted damsels in distress.
    • Some arrogant young master will demand that MC hands him his female companion to be his plaything.
    • Some shady dudes from secret organisations will discuss their plans/future actions in brothel.
    • Clearing monster den? Well, expect to see some captured females used for breeding.

And MC will encounter these situations one after another.

The most absurd thing is that despite all of this protagonist will be going stronk on his path of wizard for some incomprehensible reason. He can be simply emotionless/too shy/fully focused on something else/too old or too young etc.

'Mages Are Too Op' was like that for more than 300 chapters.
In 'Abyss Domination' MC simply commented how much of a pornstar he was in his previous life when he encountered something similar, dunno if he will finally show that he has balls later in the story, but for 270 chapters it was this way.
Now I'm read 'Death Mage'. And MC is a kid for now, so obviously it's not time for this, but he is living in some kind of monster den where they enjoy orgies daily. To top it off, he is working hard to help them increase the birthrate and fertility. There was a den of orcs arc and quiet a few rape/assault victims before in the story.

So what's the point? Are there people who enjoy reading about such obscure situations? It's not like they are R-18 novels, so there will be max 2 lines of description. It's obviously not enough to satisfy people with voyeuristic fetish, so is it something new?

Not really sure what you read if they're in the middle of an orgy, best I recall from those I read, they're in the process of attempted rape, can't recall any orgy ones.

Arrogant young masters will demand whatever they want from whatever MC they encounter, because that's who they are. If it wasn't their companion, it probably would be an item of theirs or later on demand something else.

Secret meetings if held in somewhat public places tend to be in either very raucuous places (bars, clubs etc.) or with separate rooms , and any workers there tend to know not to blabber if they want to live.

Depends a lot on the type of monster, type of novel etc. , but JP fantasy might be a bit more common with that.

As for Death Mage... they had orgies (not really, just a lot of swinging ), because of their low birth rate, so they needed every chance they had. It sort of stopped after he invented the stuff to help them.

But that was before the orcs and rapes, so i'm not really sure if you remember the right order of events.

Then again, i've got a varied taste of novels, so don't take my word for all of it.

However, there are some novels out there strictly for... voyeuristic people / NTR types, but... they might not really be translated in the same amounts of the opposites.

In the case of The Death Mage

he has two kids at least in the current raw wn, exclusively by accident. He’s more just living his life then being actively blueballed.

He’s not some dense MC either, nor does he really encounter sexual misadventures like you’re saying. It actually doesn’t come up that much. Your examples are way early in the story, and are not really supposed to titillate so implying that it’s a tease or voyeuristic...is revealing more about you than this imagined reader. Not judging, just saying.

At any rate he’s more or less promised himself to dozens of women and is aware of all of them. Considering his eldritch abilities in the late story, he’s not going to have much issue either.

    Yes sure, it's me!
    • His abused/insulted mother
    • His spirit maids were killed after being raped
    • MC saved nearly raped victim
    • Breeding den of orcs
    • Monster orgies
    • Legendary level prostitute village chief who is ruling by relying on her bed skills
    • Constant talks about birthrate/fertility
    • MC playing doctor
    • Mixed gender hot springs
    • Promised to conceive children in the future to several women
And it's only in 35 chapters, okay? I'm somewhat tired of it in all honesty.

Not like I'm trying to protect myself here, I have nothing against R-18 stories and sometimes enjoy reading some of them, but such pointless bullshit like in death mage is too much even for me.

Ok for Mages are Too OP it's pretty justifiable. Imagine taking a bunch of horny virgin gamers and putting them in a VR game where they can change their appearance and have sex with attractive women. They will 100% be all over that shit. It's actually a relevant plot point that is kind of glossed over in most VR gaming novels.

As for your complaints, from what I understand you aren't exactly annoyed at the fact that these stories are true to their settings but the fact that the stories include these elements when they do not have to. Obviously, it makes sense for gamers to focus on hot girls in-game, but the author does not necessarily have to talk about that element. So why do so?

From here it's just conjecture, but I'll give a few possible reasons.
    1. The author is trying to be as realistic as possible with their setting. This one is the least likely. This point is likely only relevant when there is no romance or romantic subplot but there are still sexual elements in the world.

    2. It's a self-insert novel. This is more relevant to the damsels in distress point, especially if the girl ends up in the MC's harem or their love interest. The author is inciting interest in their novel by teasing sexual activity between the MC and another character sometime in the future. Since the world has openly described such sexual elements, you can expect that the MC will experience this if they find a partner. Now I'm not too sure about the specifics of preferring real descriptions of the act vs the PG style of "they went to the bedroom and came out the next morning," but I imagine most authors think that those who hate it will skip it and those who want it will read it, so they can excite some without alienating others.

    3. The author is writing their own fantasy. Probably the most realistic. The author thinks about sex a lot and thus that shows in their novel descriptions and settings

    4. The author is being deliberately edgy. Another very realistic option

I think only the second point is relevant to why someone reading might want it in their book. Perhaps they think about sex a lot and have limited exposure to it, so even when they are reading a story they like that is not R-18, they would be completely open to adding more and more sexual elements to the story. Basically, they horny but still wanna read non-porn stories. Justifiably so, since these stories are usually better. Think of it like pineapple and pizza. They like pineapple and they like pizza, and they think that adding pineapple on that pizza just makes it that much better while others think that would be a bona fide war crime.

I’m not going point for point, because who cares. I’m only addressing the most egregious examples:

Nothing...was sexy about that? She was executed as a witch, there’s NO implication of her being sexually abused, and certainly not to the point where it’s “fan service” for the reader. This one is 100% in your head.

So the opposite of what you don’t want to read is an example of it? This is not me saying that depictions of assault can’t and isn’t used for cheap drama, but it’s not “fetishized” by definition.

Yeah? It’s serious problem for ghouls, why wouldn’t he talk about it? and you know what happens?
he solves it and it’s not mentioned anymore, it even helps solve ANOTHER problem later in the story.

That, doesn’t happen. I’m not sure why you’re stuck on this? Like the guy above me said: they have a low birth rate and because of that they don’t (can’t) have monogamous relationships. Even then there’s no “orgies”.

the rest are exaggerated but again, not a big deal. If you’re turned off by the novel, just drop, but the stuff your saying isn’t a fair representation of the book and could give a bystander the wrong impression of what happens in the story.

You've got me a bit wrong. My complain is about protagonist being prude/useless in such setting. It simply makes no sense.

Author can write something with R-18 elements, or avoid them completely, such a mix of virgin MC and lots of sex around him is simply strange.

MC can be a womaniser, he can adore his 1 girl in lots of ways, he can pursue harem etc. No need to add such elements through random extras.

In mages are too op all the players and MC's friends were having lots of fun but MC was single at the beginning.

Author could simply mention such things in passing at first, but no, they were specifically accentuated.

Such things are okay separately, but annoying when too much, that's what I meant.
It's a novel about child MC at first, what's the point of adding so much rape victims, addressing monster birth problems and promising children for the future? That was my point. Novel went into some completely strange direction.

He could travel with his undead till he leveled-up enough for revenge / acquire disguise magic somehow and live in a city / become adventurer and complete quests / specifically follow his targets of revenge right from the start to not loose the sight of them.

You can say that author has unlimited choices here, but he went with all this useless drama.

fair enough, agree to disagree. It’s not really hard to criticize an isekai, lol. (The fact that he has a harem in the literal dozens and he’s just hitting puberty comes to mind) I’m just saying as someone whose read farther the focus is more kingdom building, relationships are treated as more matter of fact and he’s more a mama’s boy than anything so they get pushed even farther back.

I honestly get tired of the monster rape cliche myself as well as using women’s chastity/virtue as some point of conflict/drama/loss in a story. I’m being honest when I say it’s not the focus of the story.

As an aside: I actually like how Overlord deals with the orc rapist trope, in that they see humans like we see cattle and find it deviant to want to have sex with a human, which would seem more likely in a world where humans are actively preyed on for food.

For you death mage point, your timeline is jumbeled up. After geting to the ghoul village he gets to know about ther low birthrate and promises to help them regarding that. Everything regarding their sexual habbits comes from Van helpimg them with that. (Yes, there was also a bit of an explanation regarding that, when they talked about who Basdias father is and how it is unusual to know)

As for the rape and assult. It is a quick and easy storytelling device to make it clear who the bad guy is. While making you feel he deserves whatever is coming for him.
Going back to Death Mage abd using it as an example.
In the same arc as we are introduced to the ghoul village. We also meet the orcs, who kidnaps females and use them to breed. While the Ghouks have the option to kidnapp females, turn them into ghouls and use them to breed. Making a clear distinction between the ghouls and the orcs.
Our introductiin to the ghouls was them being attacked by humans wanting to harvest their organs. While for the orcs it was humans wanting to investigate their threath. Showing that both of them are considered monsters in the eyes of the humans. So through those more private acts it sets up the role of good guys (ghouls) and bad guys (orcs). Whith the humans not caring about them being good ir bad.
This type of setup works in multiple ways not just in the example above.

BTW. there is one important thing you have to keep in mind, a lot of stories are not set in our world. That will say that their culture, lifestyle, belifs... will all be diffrent from ours in some way. Even the time periode would change how people think about those acts.
BTW 2. Japan is very ooen about the sexual kinds of acts compared to the rest of the world. So if you read JP novels you have to expect it to be more prevelant than in western novels.

    • His abused/insulted mother
She was newer abused/insulted. Tortured to get the location of her chid, YES. Then burned on the stake while alive infront of a crowd after not complying.
Nothing of the sexual nature being implied. (Might have been some in the swearing sense, since she mated with a vampire, the enemy of their god)
    • His spirit maids were killed after being raped
Can't realy remember it being mentioned, but would not be unlikly. But if it was it was just mentioned while explaining how they became ghosts, nothing sexual about it.
I also belive they were set fire to and had their necks twisted unnaturaly, wich was the fockus, cause of how they looked now.
    • MC saved nearly raped victim
Would you not save or try to save them if you saw it?
    • Breeding den of orcs
To set up the image of bad guys, while staying tru to the nature of the creatures in the fictional world. Cheap as it might be it works.
    • Monster orgies
I feelt that you had complaints about DM upuntil this point, but that newer was a part of the story.
    • Legendary level prostitute village chief who is ruling by relying on her bed skills
Father sold her into slavery, she was bought by a brothel. Escaped from the brothel, but got chought by some ghouls and made into one of them to breed with. That only lasted until she managed to show she could make wepons and armour. And ruled the village through making and distributing those. Tho she did teach other females how to become the domminant one in the nightly activities.
    • Constant talks about birthrate/fertility
    Mayor problems for their species.
    • MC playing doctor
Trying to replicate the result of a study he helpd with while being a labrat in Origin for 20 years.
    • Mixed gender hot springs
    ... horny author, wish fulfillment...
    • Promised to conceive children in the future to several women
In DM's chase the MC is underaged in the current translation he is around 12 years old. And ever since he met Dsrcia (hus mother) all he ever wanted was to live in peace with those he care about.

No, the way you wrote everything most people would not get it. Rather the interpretation he had is most likly the most common.
And the complain could simply be the MC wanting his first time to be special. Not happening willy nilly in the middle of a tense situation, with someone he/she barly know.

You might want to read alamdianos eiyuuden if you are bother by an inactive MC in a novel where it is mentiond a bit. Tho the MC starts out inactive since he saves hus first time for the right moment.

Ps. Sorry, I rushed to write this and it got a lot longer than I tbought it would. So probably some fault and/or inconsistensis in the reply. Can't be bothered to fix it or flesh out my reply since I want to sleep now...

Orcs are mythical creatures indeed. They are depicted differently in every novel, ranging from low level rapists to high level elite monsters.

I've tried reading 'Duke Pendragon' couple of days ago, orcs here were too strong, completely looking down on humans, calling them scarecrows. They don't touch weaklings. Unfortunately the story is too absurd to read. Btw it started with an orgy scene too! But MC coolly ignored it! Later he transformed into blushing retard though.

It's not orcs' fault but author's! If author wants to insert monster rape it could be goblins/slimes/orcs/horses/vampires/horses/tentacles/horses/dogs/hamsters or whatever else.
Nothing can stop a determined author when he decided to insert some strange shit into the story. Orcs are victims of an unfair treatment and discrimination!

You’re joking, but if you’re interested Orc Eiyuu Monogatari Sontaku Retsuden, is supposed to have a pretty even handed depiction of Orcs, at least they’re treated as another fantasy race instead of a weird rape parasite.
