Honestly though, if I HAVE to compare something close, I'd be much more pissed at ML of Crows who like Shiny things since playboy and slept with MC to make a statement/show her she shouldn't be so subservient to royalty (if I remember the spoilers right?) And like everyone said, he could just let the baby be born, then kill Rosie or Rose whose name I never bothered to remember since the baby has royal blood I'm MUCH more interested with the debate of whether he's brief appearance of emperor is TL1 made him portrayed as a semi-good leader (since boi technically did MOST of the hard labor. Can control homunculi, cheat of immunity from brainwashing, figurehead) contrary to his MAIN desire to rebel (his one-sided love to be by his side. To answer your question, there were guards outside her door. I bet no one would've thought that the 8th princess will be this much obsessed with him that she saw her half sister as a 'supposed' threat to her position. FL was guarded and this must've been an addition to the 8th princess's relentless. No-one would've thought that, that psycho would directly take the matters in her hand. Given that the ML had given the FL her space after the rebellion but he would've assigned guards to her place. The 8th princess, then Empress who was heavily pregnant would've given the permission and had this much freedom to her heart's content. She must've gotten her hands on a poison from anywhere and went to her sister's chamber to murder her, and if you ask why she wasn't stopped because they all knew that condition was thin. I'll support my answer on the fact that when FL died and ML's anger burst over the 8th shit, guards tried to control her and were constantly worried (not her) but about the child she was carrying. Yes, this was a weakness of them all cause that child was a future key to undo the brainwashing and the last hope of Homunculi. ML did rebelled but they all thought that was for the sake of Homunculis no-one would've thought that it all sprouted from his love for her. Also, you can see when he was sitting blankly with her lifeless body in his arms, and ordered a Homunculi (guard/knight) to execute the 8th shit the Homunculi was panicked cause of the 'royal blood and the child and all' which was answered by ML as 'it all doesn't matter now'. So yes, her door must've been guarded and the guards must've not refuted the 8th shit's 'wish' to 'visit' her sister 'alone', yes they must've have hesitated but would've been helpless cause 1) Shit was having their future in her belly (they expressed their concern about that two times) 2) They were extremely loyal to the ML so when he would've said to guard they did their part and wouldn't have left the spot but who would've thought that just in short period of time this thing will happen. Also, you can see the 8th shit was quite an actress herself cause when the FL was dying she was shocked about this betrayal, yes indeed her house was full of psychos but to think that she would directly murder her only relative alive! #Also, about surveillance and all, the palace was in chaos, ML must've done his best to protect her, after all the whole rebellion was for her. Even if it's fictional you just can't expect everything to be flawless. (Last opinion : She simply had to die for the real story to begin, end of it )

Given her obsession for him, if she would've asked for it then their was no way he could have refused (He was not only appointed as that shit's knight but also as a slave). In his memories of the FL, he himself narrated how he longed for her to chose him as her knight but she didn't, and this was the first question he asked her when he met her where she was staying (first timeline), so after that 8th shit latched herself onto him he wouldn't have no other option but to follow her wishes. Firstly, if he didn't his resistance against the brainwashing would've been exposed. Secondly, later when he decided the rebellion for the sake of FL he would have no other choice but to yield to her. This man was helpless here, his powers grew further because of his love and determination for the FL. So, this is not that much of big issue. The whole royal family were exploiting and pimping them, what can you more expect of those shit, his heart was all for her though. Now, to all those asking about the ‘baby’, he clearly said that, the 'thing' in her belly was nothing but just an experiment! An experiment! He loved the FL, then how could he just force her to carry the child who was just an experiment, the child or not what he did was not that of a big deal, even if it was his you can clearly read for yourself that it was just an experiment. It could also have been an artificial pregnancy (experiment) or even if it really did contained his blood you can't just expect him to do this with FL whom he loved! After seeing more of the story I agree that maybe the ML didn't have the choice to say no to the 8th princess even without the brainwashing. I still stand by him not being a good emperor at all and for being willing to casually kill an innocent child, but hey they story already managed to sway me from some of my impressions of him. I really like it so far and I'm camping for spoilers.

You forget, our Princess is an alchemist who specializes in creating life. Not to mention, once she becomes Empress, she will also have control of the Philosopher's Stone. Homunculus are made infertile, so one would assume they could correct that. As they probably do not want Homunculus reproducing and having self determination. It's probably why she also used those manastones to imprint the ML, so when the imprint breaks- he's free!

Spoiler: Ch 6 Eve (FL), along with Ruben (4th Prince) & Ikalis (5th Prince) & Bridget (3rd Princess) & Rosenite (8th Princess) meet with the Emperor for a morning greeting. On that day in the past, Eve fell into Bridget's scheme and completely lost the Emperor's favor. She decides to dress up so that she won't be an ugly duckling forever. Since she is competing with the Elegant 3rd Princess and the Lovely 8th Princess, there has to be a balance (of elegance and loveliness). Since Eve doesn't want to compete with them head-on yet, she thinks she should strengthen her political position first, however, Cedella thinks she should help Eve establish her influence in high society (both have different thoughts). On the way to the meeting she meets Rosenite. She thinks about the past and how Rosie killed her. Spoiler: Ch 7 While Eve is thinking, Rosenite asks her what's wrong. To not show her feelings, Eve compliments Rose for being pretty today. Rose thanks her and says she put a lot of effort in the morning. Eve notices the man behind Rose and she introduces him as Sylvestian Millard, a knight from the imperial guard, Homunclus. She requested him as an escort to the main palace. Eve greets him who was like a devoted friend to Rosenite but was abandoned and thinks that this time, she won't let that happen. Eve says that she's heard a lot about him, a versatile knight of both sword and magic and hopes that he will meet a good owner. He was silent for a moment, but then apologizes for forgetting to answer because said something impressive. He asks Rose if what she said was a common saying because usually, the nobles would be interested in his silver hair. They'll be late so they head over to the meeting and the 4th & 5th prince, and 3rd princess are already there. Eve and Rose greets them and Bridget tells them to sit down. Ruben and Ikalis talk to Rose and compliment her (something about flowers and roses) and ignore Eve. In the imperial family where everyone is blond, Eve is dull. Her hair color was the symbol of a humble origin. Back then she was so miserable, but now she thinks it doesn't matter and proceeds to smile which surprises the princes. Spoiler: Ch 8 The Emperor asks them if they've been well, then they start tea time. Eve says she prepared special tea and asks him for permission. Eve says it was good for relieving headaches since she noticed her father pressing his forehead last time, so she prepared it. The Emperor was satisfied with Eve's consideration and she says it was carefully mixed since last week and she'll give it to him if he likes it. In fact, it was actually prepared in a hurry. The Emperor says it was great tea and he feels that his headache was going away. One of the princes comments that he thought Eve only sold alchemy in the corner of the room, but now that he sees it she's quite talented. Eve says that she collects and repairs all the good ingredients. It has to be mixed with the correct recipe, so she was able to make such good tea thanks to her great talent. Ruben, the 4th prince compares Eve to Betty (Bridget, during this, she has a bad look and subtly glares at Eve), but she like how could I compare to her who's more great? Bridget smiles and says she's happy to have such a smart sister, then mentions Rose's upcoming birthday. Finally, Rose will get her personal knight, it is a ritual that anyone in the royal family can do. Rosenite says that she was a little worried in taking a knight because she wasn't talented in alchemy and magic. She wasn't sure if she could imprint properly. The Emperor reassures Rose and tells her not to worry since they can all imprint a homunculus. However, the better the homunculus, the more talent you need, so if she fails to imprint, it's still ok. Rosenite looks over at Eve and comments that she wouldn't worry about something like that (Rose is holding her hand over her mouth and snickering/mocking). Eve is a little surprised, but stays calm. The Emperor says what could he do when she doesn't intend to bring a personal knight under her wing and that she should follow the imperial tradition, but she is going to say no anyways because she's stubborn like her mother. Eve puts down her tea cup and looks determined (she will use the opportunity they gave her). Eve stands up and says she reflected a lot last night and will chose a personal knight. Bridget, Rosenite, Ruben, and Ikalis are shocked. The Emperor is also shocked and asked if he misheard, then he laughs happily and says Eve has grown up and for her to sit back down so they can talk. Rose thinks that the situation was weird. The Emperor asks Eve when she's going to chose a personal knight. She says she would like to keep it short and he wonders if the knight has already been decided. Eve says she already had a homunculus in mind, 'the monster in the prison' Michaelis Agnito (shows ML being changed, gagged, and injured in a jail cell).
