Li's mom died in her earliest years, Li was celebrating her 7th birthday when she went to the Palace with her father, so my guessing within 3 to 5 years of Li's age. Technically she wasn't abandoned but her choice, she thought that her illness was contagious and she didn't like for Li to see her in those conditions either. I really don't like Li's father at all, in the series Li's father was more decent than the novel but still he had some dirt on him. Yes, Wi-Min's mother seduced Li's father but still, how could he? when the love of his life was very ill and about to die......And there he goes, with another woman. However though, however; Wi-Min is older than Li, her father took Wi-Min's mother as a concubine after Li's mom was ill. That was never explain in the series and I'm not sure if it's in the novel. Hi @cookie_monster007 sorry for my late reply... The Novel ending: Li died set up on fire as it shows on chapter 100 - the whole incident goes from ch99 to 100. So in the original Novel, Li was burned to death.... The Emperor, Eon - was on denial about her death and at the same time he was going insane because Li was no longer there (for him, with him..whatever!!!) At so point he could not longer live without Li ( the love of his life), he died regretting everything and suffering till the very end. Now, because of "The Wicked Queen Fans" the writer ended up bring us Readers or "FANS" an Open Ending Epilogue in which Li survived that incident and Eon faked his death in order to finally live the rest of his life with the love of his life..! Technically they both died, according to its original novel. The writer had pity on us, The Fans and wrote an Open ending Epilogue.. There were two releases of the novel. The one released 12/2013 And the other one related 08/2017 or so is my understanding, according with KAKAOPAGE app. The Webtoon series adapted the story using the little hope the author/writer wrote with the Open Ending Epilogue. The ending where Li didn't die on the fire and that's why I always say or comment that I will take the series ending regarding who she ended up with..!! Be In Touch samira01
I did find this on Namu Wiki Originally, the author tried to finish the story in such a way that Li dies completely, but there is a backlog that the publisher opposed it, and in fact, it became a happy ending. Perhaps because of that, the story of women and Gunggi, who have a deep relationship with Li is the lack of description of Eun Geun in the epilogue. The author really tried on getting on the nerves of the readers. -_- Thanks for all the spoilers, I'm not keeping up with the manwha so thanks for letting me know how the story goes until the end.

I just read the reason why the emperor like a shithead ,actually he doesn't want the MC to get hurt by her position in the palace as many people want to tear them down if they are a fully functional couple. In the end, the emperor choose to let off his position and being with the MC . Yes ,i hope at least he can communicate all his reasons but he keeps torturing her even though he love her the most . It's a shitty -toxic relationship . I hate the ML
