The Immortals series by Alyson Noël. I read the series hoping that the main character would die.

Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality.

Was reading Harry Potter fanfictions since there's a good few of them, and there are some really good ones. This was the most dull thing I've ever read, with over 660,000 words. Extremely popular on the fanfiction.net site where I read it, with 35,000 reviews. Not sure if it can be considered a novel, since it's a fanfiction, but this site itself has a few fanfictions so I'll just say it. Also, I legitimately can't think of anything else since most extremely shit novels aren't really popular.

I wouldn't know. I tend to drop them early if they're unpopular with me. :blobpeek:

Honestly... I'm not sure what's going on with Invisible Dragon. I'm confused.

Invisible Dragon is one of the 7 forbidden texts of Korea... It's written so badly to the point that some people think it was written by an elementary schooler, while others say that children in elementary wouldn't write something that bad, so it's definitely someone purposefully trolling.

The more popular theory is that the novel is a critique on how novels have been getting more and more generic these days... And it's done by making the most generic and nonsensical dumb novel the author could think of.

So uhn... It's not meant to be well understood, really.

It did say something about purposefully doing it, or did I mix something up?

Somewhat like this idea, I personally don't enjoy the Harry Potter series itself. I feel that the novels were rather badly written, and there were many plot holes. For example, why did Voldemort only attack at the end of the year? Why was he so fixated on Harry Potter? Why doesn't he learn from his many quite obvious mistakes; isn't he supposed to be intelligent? Are spells supposed to be cast with Latin-like words or can normal English words also suffice?

That one about the dungeons set in korea, and korea is number one, the guilds are more powerful than the government, the MC is a cool and stoic man with super talent (who probably got abused by a black company, guild or wasn't appreciated much) and the sexiest ladies in the country can't stop thinking about him (but doesn't really pay attention to them anyway), everyone's name is a random combination of the same dozen names and the prose is so so dry and stilted that you cannot even get an impression of who is talking if you happen to forget if it's kim hyun, or kim song... or song hyun or kim il seong.. or kang jil kim...

    Which story, you ask?

    Yes.

So their names are the more common names in the country?
You have any idea how many John's, Bob's or Marie's there are in English webnovels?

The problem with that is that those names are native to people's culture, and there are very rarely any people with more than one name (like marie-anne and whatnot), or people with the same name in a novel, except for comedic purposes. Unless it's set in the souther states of the USA, then everyone is bubba ray or billie joe.

When everyone seems to be a strong-eat-the-weak psychopath hunter, sexy beauty or a stonefaced necromancer, it gets hard to sort out the white noise. The main joke though was that these popular dungeon novels are all almost exactly the same, but with recognizable things put in random orders, like names. And you have trouble recognizing them because nothing stands out due to the dry, drab way of writing.

80% of wuxiaworld chinese novels. They translate SO MANY garbage novels and i was tricked into reading them by trusting the reviews on their website (Nine star hegemon body art at "highly recommended", seriously WTF?), now i know that only "overwhelmingly recommended" have a CHANCE to be good, anything below that is garanteed garbage.
Really a shame that the best (imo) translation group translate so many bad and LONG novels, but well, they're a buisness so i guess all these garbage novels make them a fair amount of money

It can not be that bad, seeing as it has a horrible (reskinned) fanfiction that is both worse and way to popular...

Not saying it is good though. Way to much wrong with that world in general.

It's the worst that I've actually read. Most bad stuff I just don't read.
