Discussion Dr stone, why was senku so dumb on episode 4?

On episode 4 he makes a big fire that signals to everyone including the enemy chasing him and the consequences of this illogical action results in his death.

Why did he do this? The enemy could have chopped off his head, stabbed him in the chest or slit his throat. Only intervention from the author who deus ex machina'd the enemy, making him turn into a retard pulled senku out from the hole he dug himself.

 

Him being revived in the first place was a deus ex machina. “You haven’t seen ‘nothing’ yet.”
