I really wanna learn Korean but how long will it take to completely learn to speak, read and write? Please answer. QAQ
It will take however fast you can learn the alphabet. Once you learn the alphabet, you can speak read and write Korean just like that. It’s like English. You can speak, read, and write any word on the internet, but you need a dictionary to know what it means.
... That fine print, though! ... Yeah. This. Korean is supposed to be incredibly simple to learn. I think I saw an infographic about it once, lemme find it... Ah, here it is. https://www.ryanestrada.com/learntoreadkoreanin15minutes/ My understanding is that Korean was deliberately designed to be easy to learn. It was about making the peasants literate, or something. I don't know. Just repeating what I've heard. ... Unfortunately, that's still just the *system* of it. The alphabet. The writing system. You still have to actually learn all of the vocabulary necessary to read or write anything significant. Maybe you can teach yourself to read a menu really quick, but if you want to read a novel.....
It takes 1 year for super dedicated people. On average it takes 3-5 years. Don't forget upkeep. You can forget any knowledge you don't use.
If you have someone that you can actively speak korean to without getting embarrassed you should learn pretty quickly. (I'm 2nd gen korean, but my korean sucks, cause I feel so embarrassed whenever I speak in korean.)
well just learn to read and write and you can translate and read novels a great side job as korean mtl is so difficult to get and translate unlike jp and cn
