Similar to the 30% revenue sharing that Webnovel has offered for Fan Translation of Chinese novels
    https://forum.webnovel.com/d/43431-50-revenue-share-to-fan-translators-for-translate-dropped-novels

    30% of revenue: Korean translator
    30% of revenue: Korean author
10% of revenue: wire transfer cost / administrative expense
    30% of revenue: Webnovel platform

The fan translator has a direct stake on the novel.

The fan translator is doing this more for love than for money (if the novel does not have many paying readers)
The fan translator is helping the Korean author earn foreign language royalties.
The fan translator is helping readers with more novels to read.

It's a win-win for everyone. Author, translator, reader and WN.

    https://www.strawpoll.me/42889432

    1. Fan Translator choose a popular Munpia novel to translate. Took a translation test with Webnovel.
    2. Webnovel will license this novel for English translation (author gets 30% of revenue)
    3. Fan Translator can start translate once licensing is done. (fan translator gets 30% of revenue)

The advantage of revenue sharing model is that everyone has a stake on it. Every stakeholders will earn money. The more paying readers = more revenue for everyone.

The hard part is finding fan translators who are willing to translate and do it at only 30% revenue sharing.

    Thoughts?

    Will it work?

You already know our thoughts about Qidian.

Chinese or Korean or whatever language, the answer will be the same. Especially when the conditions haven't changed in the slightest.

Raw deal if I am the author. I don't think any agent worth their salt will agree to this. Why is the translator getting a higher cut? I would rather go with an official translator where I could collaborate rather than a fan translator whose language and grammar skills are I don't know..

Um.... based on the title webnovel should recruit..?
So qi/webnovel aren’t recruiting translators..? Ok....

Shouldn’t you be trying to persuade them on the webnovel platform then to tell them to recruit ppl... ?
NU isn’t a representative of qi/ webnovel so I’m puzzled why this is being brought up again here on NU when NU got no say in who is being recruited by qi/webnovel

    this guy again? :facepalm::blobconfused:
Go to QI forum and bug them about it. it literally does not matter what the public thinks. They're probably your boss, they'll listen to you.

Them in management are sadists. Their policy is solely based on making the public suffers. They will only implement OP's idea if at least 50% of us believe it. After that, there comes the river of tear

the issue is that the bullshit % the OP is throwing out have already been disputed in another thread. the only thing he's changed is tack on administrative cost to the 10% which was originally allocated to wire transfer cost. This is basically the same thread made over and over again just with slightly different schemes all dependent on "generous" fan translators...the meaning of fan translator has been lost because of this OP

Exactly that lol. They expect people to really forget about that old thread and change opinions about it. Like hell it's that fast. The way i see it, they waited for a half year then proceed to make a literal duplicate thread is the same as saying, "yeah, now you get it. Half a year for what? You fan translators should've agreed to us back then. But you should be thankful because we're still so generous. We are here giving you guys a second chance. We expect you to give a favorable response now, unlike before."
