in the era of online class i always wondered something, why don't people teach with music? 'cause for example thanks to Epic Rap Battle of History i learned a lot of interesting things. and it is easier to remember things with music if we could do the same thing with math or physics it could truly help kids learn so why is it so rarely done?
Well, not only does it require a lot of extra effort but it also might end up being so bad that your students don't remember the necessary information. I imagine it would be pretty hit or miss But common topics on the internet like Chemistry and History I know had a lot of songs pre-made. Teachers would always pull up things like School House Rock but I don't remember those that well either.
As a student, I'd have hated it. As if sitting through lessons wasn't already bad enough, now I also had to listen to music (I am not fond of most music) while doing so!
Reminds me of classes where lecturers pull up a yt video, and i just sit there like 'im paying this much tuition just to watch youtube'
why wouldn't my teacher use cells at work to do a lecture on infectious disease that's the question I mean, it already exists and barely any effort is needed to use it in class
Idk, in what country you are? In fact gov's policies account for majority of guidance of about how to conduct a learning in class for school and any similar institutions, in which aaking to change the fundamental learning method kind of absurd, it's fine tho, if it's just for a few small things or certain occasions
In germany we have something called "Waldorfschule". This is a seperated school system, which contains a lot of alternative learning methods, like "dancing your name" etc They also don't get any grades, until graduation year. So basically you can experience the concept of "teaching with music" and many other alternative methods in germany, if you want.
I prefer serious no nonsense teaching with occasional jokes. I am able to remember better that way. I would have hated the music style teaching.
cuz its hard 1st you need to know on certain degree knowledge you wanna teach 2nd you need to have certain talent on music it mix of ability of teacher, institutions policy plus management~ primary school or below with nursery song, you go try create new song to teach them something this cat learn history by teacher storytelling, yes those world war turned into storytelling oversimplified youtube channel style but without animation~
I dunno about you but songs were pretty common in my education. The thing is that most people are apathetic towards music. It is cool the first time but once it's your turn to memorize the 17th song about linguistic bullshit rules it becomes a fucking drag like all school work is. I still have ptsd from having like tens of 2 to 9 minute-long songs playing on the background of my head while I took my university entrance exams.
