I'm the kind of person who can fall asleep relatively anytime anywhere, if I can sit and rest my head comfortably enough I can lull myself out
But on the few instances when it takes too long for me to fall asleep, I do the counting backwards from 100 in 3s trick (or from 1000 in 7s when I feel particularly edgy :blobhero:) and around the 3rd round or so I'll be sleeping already
I'm not sure if this trick really works or it's just me, the people I recommended this to responded negatively, but I know for a fact that they never even tried it out :blobdead: enjoying their life without night's sleep

I just keep my eyes closed and myself comfortable not really thinking about anything and it worked every day yet

I tried the counting methods such as counting sheep, counting to 1000 by sevens, counting down by 3 breathing in one breathing out at 2. Anything like that that makes me think, wont make me fall asleep, it'll just keep me up. I get up and do something boring like wash dishes, vacuum clean the bathroom, and then I also listen to relaxing sounds. I do have insomnia that is something I should point out though so I often have trouble falling asleep.

Depends on cause. Sometimes I just randomly overheat and need to walk around to cool while the bed also cools back to room temp.

Sometimes I genuinely just can't sleep and do something that makes me sleepy, like reading boring stuff, lol.

Worst would be when a headache doesn't let me sleep. I just writhe in pain until I lose consciousness ( not an idiot, having a headache at that point means I already tried all possible countermeasures like medicine, shutting down all lights, etc. ) for however long.

And then there's the self inflicted idiocy. The "I will just look up this one cool thing and looking at a clock showing 6:30 am when it felt like five minutes" later. Tricky that.

Ah yes the theory says that the counting makes you think hard enough that it should make your brain tired so it'll fall asleep. Guess it isn't a one answer for all though

I play ASMR to try and hypnotise myself into feeling sleepy, and then I make myself tell a good story in my head until I drift off.

When that doesn't work, I listen to the birds proudly announcing that it's dawn outside and cry.

My sleeping habit is just like you
But counting doesn't help, it makes me even more awake... Then I can't sleep throughout the night

What I do is Imagine random spin-offs about the stories I've read and try to get them my desired ending...This way I fall asleep pretty fast and almost never reach the conclusion. So I store this in my mind and start from where I left off when I can't sleep again

1.imagine your soul drowning in a lake while your body float , and you are breathing through your body and can explore the ocean with your soul.
2.imagine yourself being inside your favorite novel being the mc or watching the mc.
3.place headphones and listen to a good book or place the phone next to your head (some apps offer to stop reading the book and turn the screen off after a certain time)

    It really works? :hmm:

I actually done this a lot too when I was younger :blobxd: it can be quite productive when I was trying to solve a plot hole of the story I was writing. But my mind tended to go on a loop and sometimes I couldn't even remember what I came up with before I fell asleep, it can be annoying

Why this list looks like a dubious lucid dreaming tutorial at first glance :blobrofl:
