It is much more fun for kids if they can sing along- which means it needs to be catchy (or easy to learn) and more upbeat music and flashy colors (that's why kids movies/shows/music videos are like this) are like crack for the kid's brain (i'm not joking, the way their brain physically reacts to it is crazy)
Repetitive beats. Upbeat melody. Simpler lyrics. Easier for kids to remember and also for the equally short attention span adults of today.
Lowest Common Denominator. In order for a song to appeal to a variety of children, it has to be designed to be easy to listen to, easy to sing with, easy to learn, cheerful, and simple. Not all of them are tho? The children songs I remember weren't overly catchy. They did stay in one's head. The main point of children songs were that they told stories. Maybe it's the difference between the writers? The songs I grew up with were written by adults who made shows for schools. Baby shark is a pop song from a young idol or something right?
