OR they're used as plot devices, like they're specific to moving the plot along ("the reason for the journey" which isn't always bad but for example: paired with a protagonist that has no clue what to do... it's on the same level of being a shortcut as "truck-kun") OR they act as an intermediary when it becomes impossible for the protagonist to handle it. a crouching tiger per say. for example: the child of the demon king or a hundred year old loli with amnesia. The child doesn't have to be human. cat moms and doggy dads are welcome! "Found families" also count ex.
