This is a rant about my city older roads.
Don’t get me wrong. I love the old architecture and the sights of the city way back when. The problem I have is how wide the roads are. I mean really. It’s not like people still use horse and buggy’s or model T. It’s ridicules.
    Anybody else have this problem.
Frankly it’s a pain. Especially since I use big trucks

I don’t understand where the problem is since a wide road means more space

My main road complaint would be the city's "Road project" during the end of the year. They break perfectly fine roads, then fix it so that they could report that they used the budget allocated to them. After years of rinse and repeat, I feel like the original road was better than after the road projects...

European road structure always seems pretty tight. Every road inside cities seem quite narrow. American roads feel insanely wide in comparison.

Yeah, where I live we got those old and narrow roads... Coupled with the "me first" everyone and theyr neighbor got these days I'd actually would kinda enjoy broader roads tbh...

My story from my old hometown. Someone abandoned a car on the side road that takes approximately a quarter of the dual lane roads and it stays there for as long as i remember around 8 years when i left the village.
What's amazing is that all it's glass be it windshield or the window are intact throughout the years that i can proudly say the peoples there do not have tendencies to break any glass when they can get away with them that make it a very contrast to typical urban dwellers. Peoples eventually take tokens out of that landmark that is the wheels and whatever inside the hood but leave everything else untouched.
Can't say I'm proud of that though. Not because they are stealing but because whoever taking them apart should've carry the whole car out of that spot. Just steal the whole car ffs it's been taking spaces for years already.
So yeah. Tldr my old villages villagers is so damn lazy to move the car out of the road for years.

Wide roads are a good thing, many places have such narrow roads cars pretty much end up parking on the sidewalk, if there even is one!

I have the opposite problem. All the older roads around where I live are very narrow and people walk around them a lot so they're very crowded. I wish they were wider (ー∀ー)

I'm fairly certain the original poster isn't complaining about how wide the old roads are, but how wide they are not. Poor phrasing, that's all.

The roads are not my problem, it’s the shitty drivers on said roads that’s the problem.

Drivers these days seem like they got their license from a cereal box :notlikeblob::notlikeblob::notlikeblob:

Considering that there might not be many cities in Europe that aren't... atleast 2-300 years old, many probably older than that and some way older than that, expecting them to be perfect fits for modern (especially larger) traffic is... optimistic at best.

I’ll take your word for it, but it’s nice you feel my pain.

    It’s ridiculous right!

I live out in the country but even out here there's some narrow roads too narrow for 2 vehicles to pass one needs to pull off to the side to let the other pass town has some pretty tight roads also but still manageable the only roads comfortable to drive on are the highways
