Which MC personality u like best.
1- Lawful Good
2- Neautral Good
3- Chaotic Good

It's not really specific; it could always depend on how its written and it can also change but just in general which is more preferred. Im curious what the community likes best. Personally if I were to rank em it would be 8,9,5,6,7,3,2,1,4 respectively

I forgot what these meant, but Lawful Evil, Lawful Good, and True Neutral sound the best to me!!!

 

Don't know what any of those mean, but i went with lawful evil, since i think they can see the world in a more grey color and view things in different perspectives.

As you have said, it is mainly how the character is written. Therefore, because of that, I really do not have a preference.

I see many pitfalls in webnovels, or just using a sort of alignment system for them in general.
People think "Chaotic Evil" and "Chaotic Neutral" mean that you are nuts, you act nuts, and you do whatever you want. No, that is incorrect. You just do not follow the law if you choose not to. You do not murder everyone on sight. "Chaotic" does not signify a "chaos" mindset.

So far, I have yet to see a well-written "Lawful Good" main character in novels. This is because as they do not face any internal conflict with their choices. They make no hard choices because the author writes the world around them. I am specifically talking about the isekai op mc genre where one japanese highschooler thinks he is doing the world a favour by purchasing some slave cat-girl and treating them well. Technically, if he fought against the slavery system, and said system was legal, he would be "Neutral Good," but still "Lawful Good" in the reader's eyes due to his background being from Earth, not the isekai world.
I am also talking about the "X Good" xuanhuan cultivator MCs that just rampantly murder everyone that wrongs them. It is as if they have never heard of forgiveness.

 

Well it depends entirely on what type of story you are writing/reading.
Evil alignment is a pretty terrible choice for most cases, not to mention characters often shift alignment as stories progresses.
I'd say you find the most interesting MC's in the Neutral/chaotic good/neutral parts.

Although going by the mighty bread alignment chart I'm Neutral evil, so I'd be a horrible MC

I would say The Joker very much goes under the chaotic evil mindset.

 

chaotic neutral was a hard alignment to play properly but it was fun as hell because I got to do whatever I felt like. it's crazy but not the typical 'psychotic murder everyone' kind of crazy.
for a novel it would depend on what you were going for; my default choice would probably be chaotic good.

See this is the problem. If you want to create compelling characters, ditch this system. It's so stupid and that's why so many novels suffer from cliche and dull characters.

Although not a really popular opinion, Lawful Evil protagonists are my favorite. Chaotic good comes second and True Neutral characters are good if they are smart.

Apparently Lawful evil isn't as unpopular as I thought considering it's tied for top.

 

Lawful Neutral. It pisses me off when the MC is at the end or close end of any spectrum since they're irrational. And in mid-range, aside from lawful neutral, the rest tends to be inconsistent.

 

I would like to point out that alignments are not personalities. A lawful good person can be a real jerk, while a chaotic evil person could easily be the nicest person you've ever met despite the fact that he's a serial killer. Alignment is how you view yourself, the people around you, and society; personality is how you express that viewpoint.

That said, I like a protagonist whose alignment changes throughout the story as he gains experience and understands the world better, or a protagonist who doesn't fit neatly into any of the categories because he could be seen differently depending on how you look at him.

 

Chaotic Neutral FR. Either that or Neutral Good (Because the MC can be a good person without being a goody-two-shoes).

 

Alignment system doesn't make much sense, people are too complex to be defined by two words.

One character can be loyal in most circumstances, but betray someone if they go against their morals.

One character can mostly good things, but do something evil if they find the need to.

On that note, good and evil are extremely relative, so it's also kinda dumb to try defining characters with those words.
