He wasn't as hopeless by the time he met the Brown young lady. When he met mc he was utterly alone and suffering from poison and mc literally saved him and was his only contact during that time. He fell for her after only the 1st meeting when she said she'll help him, that she wasn't afraid of anything bad happening to her for helping him and that he should live. None of that was really groundbreaking, I mean I would have said these 3 main things as well, you'd probably have as well.

But if we think about it, those things are groundbreaking to someone in a desolate situation like our ML. Somebody who hopes he will live when nobody else, including his father, wants him to live. However, I don’t see a problem if this is the way love begins. There are many celebrated love stories in the world that show many different ways in which love can begin. I don’t think this way is any less compelling. ;)

This is a serious human trash we have here.
He's son beat up another child who is currently at the hospital and the father didn't see what he's son did wrong and instead ask for the other children who protect MC to be punished.

I know he is a bad guy, but he could have a little decency at least. I only ask the normal level, like he frowns in front of the public and compliment his son in private.

I was honestly expecitng the Grandfather to immediately take away any rights that kid and his dad had to succession of the Lombardy family. Beating up family members, who are also NOBLES, with wooden swords - that's enough to make sure they never succeed the Lombardy family.

Well I guess he still observes him. He was partially responsible for the fall of the family too in the first timeline. He was too passive and let his black sheep becoming the lord. He didn't give MC a chance to shine too.

Yeah, he's too passive even though he is clearly wise and clever at recognizing talent. If I were him, I would have given Shannet (the aunt) the right to succession. She's way more clever than the idiot brothers of Gallahan, and she is more active and a better leader than Gallahan (Tia's dad). I mean, Firentia is obviously qualified too, but she's still a kid, so I think making Shannanet the heir is the best idea. It's so unfair that Shannet can't succeed the title - I hope its not because she's a woman ... :(

I don't think it was because she was a woman. I believe in an earlier chapter, Shannet said she didn't want to inherit the Lombardy. I believe it was also mentioned after her divorce, that she felt even more unworthy of inheriting. Since her ex-husband did a lot of underhanded things to the family and also had an affair.
Shannet becomes temporary head when it becomes too much for the grandfather to handle due to his age. But only until Tia is old enough to take over.

What kind of spoilers do you want about Shannet?
Apparently he and his mistress were childhood sweethearts and he didn't really love Shannet.
He felt he wasn't being given the recognition that he deserved and was basically using the Lombardi's to steal money from their bank. He put in charge of the bank because he was trusted as the son-in-law of Lombardi.
He also was giving insider secrets/information to the Lombardi's enemy, the Angenas family (the Empress's family).
He also stole Shannet's mother's necklace. It was given to her by her mother when she passed and it was a very sentimental item for her. He gave it to his mistress and told her that it was his family's heirloom. She wore it out in public and Tia saw her wearing it. She was furious, but set a trap by luring her to where she knew her father and grandfather would be. The grandfather already had suspicions about his son-in-laws relationship with her, the mistress, and this infuriated him. His wife's memento and daughter's cherished item being worn by someone else/mistress.
Before - Basically, the same thing. The husband was cheating but he wasn't exposed for his crimes. He stole money from the bank, sold insider information about a mine (turned out to not only contain iron, but also diamonds) to the Angenas family for eventual rights to the mine, and got a hefty sum of money in the divorce. He also took the twins. Shortly after the divorce he got married to his mistress and basically rumors went around saying that the reason they divorces was because there was something wrong with Shannet or it was her fault. It was implied that she never corrected it because of the huge betrayal and basically wanted to shoulder the blame to keep her family happy and not cause trouble.
After - Tia knew her aunt got divorced, but it was always suspicious of why. Since they were always a loving couple but it was weird that he had gotten married so quickly after the divorce. She basically overheads him talking to one of Angenas' family execs about how much the Lombari's are bidding for the mine. The mine was thought to be just a coal mine and was being auctioned off. Auctioners were only allowed to put in one bid and the highest bid got the rights to the mine.
So Tia overhears this and deal about how Lombardi is putting in a bid of 1600 and Angenas should put in a bid of 1800 and that after, they'll give him the rights to the mine. He wanted money so that he could safely divorce Shannet.
Tia is suspicious on how he'd get the amount of money to exchange for the mine and had Clarivan and Violet dig into him. Shannet also overheard and decided to investigate him secretly.
Tia and Clarivan are planning to bid for the mine, because they don't want the Angenas to have it and she knows that there's not only iron, but diamonds too. Diamonds are a new jewel, so she wants the mine because it'll generate a lot of money and to rub it in the Empress' face. They win the bid.
Tia had suspicions about everything and set a trap to expose everything. This time, Shannet doesn't have to quietly shoulder the responsibilities of her unfaithful and thieving husband. She gets a divorce, keeps the twins, and she returns to helping out the family business.

    Not really. No.
After the mistress, Maria, was found out by Tia's grandfather and father to be wearing the necklace. She was escorted to the Lombardi estate and basically made to confess everything.
Maria was forced to confess to Shannet that she had been seeing Vesitan (Shannet's husband) and knew that he was married and had children. She also confessed to receiving the necklace (Shannet's mother's necklace) from Vestian. She eventually led her to their "love house" and Shannet confronted Vestian. He at first tried to play it off as a friends house, but then said that "it looks bad but it's not what you think/misunderstanding" and to trust him.
Shannet slapped him and told him there was no house for him to come back to. He got angry and he tried to follow after her "fix" the situation because he had borrowed money from the Lombardi bank. This was part of Tia's plan to expose him and make the situation worse for him. See spoiler below.
The twins were also there and prevented him from going after their mother. They essentially told their father that they weren't going to let their mother suffer/shoulder the blame/stay quiet about their father's misdeeds.
Their parents got divorced and Vestian and Maria went to jail for stealing money from the Lombardi's and a debt with interest from the loan. His family. the Scholes, were ruined as Grandpa recovered all the support and investment that they had given. He also had their name removed from the aristocratic family registry. Essentially they had nothing left.
He always felt he wasn't being given enough recognition by the family and felt overshadowed. He also was greedy for more power/money. Hated Shannet and thought everyone was looking down on him.
Tia got suspicious after finding out that Vestian was giving insider information to the Angenas and how was he going to pay for the mine after the Angenas "won" the rights. She starting thinking about the past and how it didn't make sense why they got divorced and how it was fishy that he quickly remarried after his divorce. Shannet was a smart and strong woman, why didn't she have custody of the twins, why did she quietly move to her summer home away from everything.
She had Clarivan and Violet investigate Vestian. They found out he was siphoning money from the Lombardi bank and cooking the books. He didn't do a good job as anyone would quickly be able to tell something was off in the accounting. They assumed it was because everyone trusted him as the only son-in-law and "devoted/loving" husband of Shannet.
Tia got angry because the Lombardi's gave a monthly stipend to the Scholes, he got a good job as manager of the Lombardi bank, but he was still greedy and stealing money and making deals with their enemies. She had a hunch that the woman he quickly married after the divorce in the first life might be his mistress. She felt sad for her aunt in her past life and decided that she wasn't going to let that happen in this life.
She and Clarivan planned to put a bid in for 2050 gold for the mine. She new that there was money to be made with the diamonds and that she would quickly get a return from the money initially paid for the mine. The Lombardi's bid 1600 gold, the Angenas 2000. Dillard, the other Lombardi exec and Clarivan's father, got suspicious of Vestian, since he didn't seem surprised that they had lost and it was a secret among only the top Lombardi execs that they were interested in the mine. The Angenas exec didn't seems too surprised when they initially arrived. Then they read the last bid by Clarivan for 2050 gold. Uproar, Angenas angry, Vestian shocked and worried about where to get money so that he can divorce Shannet.
They did mining and discovered a new type of jewel: diamonds! They wanted to celebrate the Pellet company's\Vestian's luck. To the outside Pellet company is run by Vestian, but Tia's the real owner/investor. Tia tells Vestian to invite Maria Patron, the woman Vestian married after his divorce with Shannet in her first life, to test their reactions at meeting unexpectedly. Vestian starts getting nervous as it was unexpected for Maria to be there. She's basically a lesser noble from the country-side so there's no way she would get an invitation to this exclusive high-noble event. Since Maria's from the country-side/lesser noble, she's not really up-to-par in terms of etiquette in high-society and basically comes to greet the Lombardi's. This is a breach in etiquette, as she's a lesser noble, they don't know her, and no one that the Lombardi's new introduced her.
She makes the grandfather suspicious as she and Vestian know each other and they're acting strangely. Vestian's pale and avoiding looking at Shannet and not as lively as he usually is. Then there's Maria, some stranger who introduces herself to them and is telling/implying that she's friendly with/knows Vestian.
Tia later sees them secretly rendezvousing on the second floor. Vestian asks how'd she get in, it's invite only. She get's a little upset that he's implying that she's not noble enough to be there essentially saying "Why? You don't think I belong here?". He smooths it over stating he wasn't really expecting her to be there as it's far from the Scholes land/house. They become lovey-dovey saying how they missed each other, curious about his in-laws, saying they weren't that impressive, insulting Shannet, saying "how can he put up with such an ugly woman" (laughable as Tia describes Maria as plain and saying Vestian has no eyes). He tells her to be patient, he just needs a little more money (implied that he needs more money before he can divorce).
Later Vestian approaches Clarivan to find out why he invited Maria. As she's not really outstanding so he's curious as to why she was invited. Clarivan playing by Tia's script, essentially says he knows about the affair and him stealing from the Lombardi's. He implies or Vestian takes that as Clarivan hates the Lombardi's too and feels more safe letting his true face show. He vents about the Lombardi's and after tries to make a deal for Clarivan to sell the mine to him.
Clarivan says that he'll think about it and that they should meet up later to discuss. Fast forward, they meet up and he tells Vestian that he needs 8,000 gold to buy the mine. Vestian is stunned that he wants that much, but Clarivan says it's not him it's his investors and that the deal is only good for today as he's meeting them tonight. Vestian panics as that's about the amount he's stollen from the Lombardi's but and that's not really enough time to get the money. Clarivan then suggests to get a loan from the Lombardi bank. It should be easy as he's the trusted son-in-law and that they should be able to give it to him quickly, plus he'll easily make the money back with the diamond mine. Vestian agrees and quickly runs to the nearest Lombardi bank, get's the check and gives it to Clarivan. All according to Tia's plan, now how to expose the affair.
Shannet has been investigating Vestian since she also overheard Vesitan giving insider secrets about the bid for the mine to the Angenas. She confronts him about him stealing from the bank. He acts pitiful, saying that her family looks down on him as he's not as good as they are. He's doing this for them and the twins. She says she won't tell anyone about him stealing but he'll have to pay it back. He agrees, she leaves the room and he gets frustrated angry. Blames everyone for not seeing him as a great person. He see's Shannet's beloved necklace and pockets it.
There's a commotion at Shannet's place. Her favorite necklace has gone missing. The head maid and the one who cleaned her place are apologizing saying that they will look for it. Shannet faces the window outside and quietly says that it's okay. She makes an excuse that she probably lost it and that it's not their fault (they won't be punished). She asks to be left alone. Tia and grandpa overheard everything. They go outside, grandpa explains the significance of the necklace. It's not anything really amazing, but Shannet received it from her mother before she passed away. She wore it only on special occasions and it was very precious to Shannet. Tia asks if grandpa had any other jewelry of grandmothers. Maybe he could give it to Shannet; it might not be the same but maybe it might comfort her to just have something of her mother's. They go off to go pick something out for Shannet.
Tia's out at her favorite cafe/bakery and happens to run into Maria. Since Maria, semi-debuted at Clarivan's party, she's been taken in by another noble family and has been staying in the capital. She was hanging out with a couple of other noble ladies, bragging about her mysterious lover/boyfriend. Maria again approaches Tia and introduces herself. She treats Tia like a child and guesses that Tia doesn't remember her but that she introduced herself to the Lombardi's at the Pellet party. Tia basically calls her out for her lack of manners at the party. Tia makes an observation that Maria has a poor sense of choosing people not just men. The ladies that she was with are laughing at her. They are only there to take advantage of the "country bumpkin".
Tia sees the necklace and goes white with anger and disbelief. Cussing Vestian in her mind and asks Maria where she got her necklace from. Maria puts on airs and says it's not something you can buy and says that her precious person gave it to her for her birthday recently. Tia confirms with Maria that Maria's lover gave her that necklace. Maria explains that it's special because it was handed down in his family for generations. This makes Tia even more mad, but rationalizes that it doesn't seem like Maria knows the truth. She'd wouldn't be so stupid to parade around and brag about it if she really knew that it was Shannet's. Maria brags about how loved he makes her feel for such a special gift.
Tia takes offense to everything. Maria's basically bragging about her affair with Vesitan, a married man with two kids, in front of her lover's niece. They're stealing money from Lombardy and she has the gall to face Tia. Tia made up her mind, Vestian isn't the only one who needs to be punished. But today's a good day and Tia quickly plans to expose everything.
She took a glass of juice and deliberately poured it on Maria's dress even though she really wanted to pour it on her face. She didn't even pretend it was a mistake and says she'll compensate her. Maria basically complains and says Tia doesn't even know how much her dress is worth but quickly shuts up when Tia offers a premium dress at Gallahan's store. She says she'll make do with that. The other ladies ask if they can come too. Tia agrees, thinking more spectators to spread rumors.
Tia takes them her father's store in the capitol. Maria chooses the most expensive dress with emeralds on it. One that cost way more than the dress she was wearing. But they happen to meet her father and grandfather, just as planned!
Gallahan asks why Tia's there and sees Maria and co. Thinks it's weird for them to be Tia's companions as there's an age difference. Tia explains that she accidentally spilled juice on Maria's clothes and invited her to get a new one at their store. Her father agrees and says that's okay and takes a look at Maria's spoiled clothing and freezes. He's staring at her necklace. Maria tries to make conversation, not noticing that Gallahan isn't paying attention.
Grandpa calls Maria to come closer, he's staring at the necklace too. He wants to take a closer look. He evaluates Maria as a common person, who is pretending to be confident/noble, but is failing. He asks her what happened and then surprises her about asking about her relationship with his son-in-law. She tries to play it off as not knowing what he's talking about, but grandpa's not buying it. He intimidates her, as the moment Maria approached he knew that the necklace was Shannet's. He immediately suspects Vestian and thinks about when they met at the Pellet banquet. He tells her that necklace belonged to his wife and that it was now his daughter, Shannet's. Maria tells him, that he must be mistaken. He says he doesn't know what the person who gave it to her told her, but that's his wife's keepsake. It has his wife's initials on the back. Maria turns the necklace over and reveals the initials.
Grandpa gives her a choice to be a thief who broke into Lombardi, stole the necklace and be handed over to the Imperial Guards or to confess her relationship with Vestian Scholes. Maria looks back at what Vesitan always said about the "old man"/grandpa and always thought of him as a joke. They made fun of him not knowing that they were stealing from him and realizes that she was the stupid one. She regrets it, but it's too late. Grandpa asks her if Vestian gave her the necklace and she confesses.
They're all going back to mansion, Maria included. Maria tries to apologize and beg for forgiveness, but grandpa refutes her saying if it hadn't been revealed, she wouldn't be sorry. She looks towards the ladies she was with for help, but they look at her with contempt realizing the situation.
Then it continues with Maria confessing to Shannet about what she did and going to her husband and his mistress's love nest. Shannet slaps and confronts Vestian, Vestian worries about the 8,000 gold he borrowed and tries to resolve the situation. The twins stop him and say they're not letting their mother take the fall/blame for him anymore. They get divorced and Vestian and Maria go to jail for theft and Vestian had a debt of 8,000 gold plus interest once he got out of jail. Vestian's family, the Scholes are forced to repay everything the got from the Lombardi and are removed from nobility.
Shannet goes back to being a Lombardi, by running the Lombardi Mining Company. Tia's happy that Shannet is back to being herself/the strong woman she's always been.
