    so I can agree with this but the original post was about simple things like mu, li, catty and so forth and that’s what I disagree with.
    things like measurements and names should be left alone.

    For example one Li is an ancient Chinese unit of measure and is about 1/3 an English mile. A league in the other hand is about 3 English miles. A Chinese novel using li should be ok.

    another example is weight. British use stones (14 pounds) and it would be easier to just say 14 pounds but saying stones would be realistic and immersive.

    But I will assume you.
    Stones and pounds is the same language. It's both English. Your example doesn't hold.

    This is a better example, translate "British" to Chinese
    And you get

    Wo ai ni, ni shisi(14) stones shi..

    Do you seriously think that makes sense?

    Guys, don't get conned, Wuji is famous for courting controversy in the forums just to drum up publicity for his site (Asian Hobbyist). The only thing he really cares about is his bottom line in dollars. He runs a stable of translators while at the same time admitting he does not know Chinese or Japanese at all so he tends to shit on them on a whim just because he "feels" they are wrong. You're just being used as advertising to show off how "famous' he is for his ad sponsors.

    Just read the tag he attached to the post.
