For reference, Shadowbanning is when your comments or replies to a subject are Hidden from everyone else views and only you can see them. The problem is, that you are Not notified of this and you believe your comment has at least been read, where the truth is that nobody else has seen it, and any more comments you make are "deleted"
Just today, an author notified its readers that webnovel has silently implement shadowbanning people who use curse words or sex-related words making their comments invisible to everyone except themselves causing those comments to be "Deleted" so to speak.
$€✗, d a mm, f**k, b a$t a rd, are the words i managed to get through the block, but typical formats such as sex, damn, fuck, shit, bastard, and more are blocked, even if you write s*x, F*ck, its also "deleted".
Even the Most used word WTF, is blocked, so you cannot write WTF anymore.
You cannot put links anymore it seems. Since those are "deleted" too.
So now you cannot comment with freedom and users are restricted on what they can or not write... But this can be expected from a place like webnovel, knowing who the dog owner is.

Censorship happens on social media too like Reddit so not surprising a Chinese website like webnovel doing the same. Freedom only exist if it is controlled and what the higher ups allows. Ignorance is bliss as they say.

Is that all? I kind of expected worse from Qi... seems rather tame. I mean how many times do you find outright plagiarism openly displayed behind their paywall? Half the time even when the real author reports the infringement, another "anonymous" user reposts the same story claiming to be the author. So why should i be surprised they are censuring comments as well?

CD. the problem is that there are some words that are banned when they are not even curse word or related to sex at all... Especially when you write in other languages.

If they don't allow me to post on their website, then I won't post. It's not like it matters to me that much;).

Unless the posts being censored are "The *Beep* Star is coming to *Beep* the planet! Everyone prepare to *Beep*!", I don't see how it affects anything much. People will still post shit somewhere else and the planet will go on spinning as usual. Some things matter, some things don't. This is in the "don't matter" category.

If authors can delete reviews, shadowbanning seems tame in comparison.
