Unfortunately, there's still no exact date on when season 2 will be out. I have been checking the artist's twitter regularly and she/he hasn't posted anything for the past months, which means there's no news whatsoever about season 2 :blobsad::blobsob:

Is that guy serious though because he brought up the idea of cheating on Carver twice. One at the victory party and the other time at Carver’s mansion where he went uninvited and then Renee and Carver had a big fight after he left.

In any case, I feel the situation that Renee created was absurd. She should have just confessed to Carver that she was drunk and she confessed to him by mistake. To think that she thinks that he would murder her just for that is so silly and shows her low opinion of him.

As to the prince, I will never feel sorry for him. Why? It really annoyed when he told Renee to stand in the light with him at the victory party. This can be interpreted different ways but the bottom line is that it showed that he has a very high opinion of himself. What’s there to pity about him when everybody worships him and he can practically get whatever he wants? That’s why I’m glad that there will be one thing he won’t get. It really annoyed me how both sets of knights went to the battlefield, risking their lives and only the knights of light were looked upon favorably. No, sorry, that’s just too much to support.

Another thing is the imperial family. Their tactics with Carver is shady and show they obviously cannot be trusted. Renee had better act wisely with them because even their healers and religion think themselves superior to everyone else. That means they cannot be trusted in their dealings with her. They’re not open minded but opportunistic and obviously discriminates. The proposal they gave to the MC that they will only give her the title of Saint if she joins their side obviously shows that they are trying to take advantage of her despite her goals or opinion.

So I read through this novel series and wanted to share before I forget details. The only arc I did not like that much is the arc in the past where MC and the crown prince went. I didn’t care that much about people unconnected with the story up to that point so I found it boring. Nevertheless, I admit the arc ultimately had an important purpose. I got the information through MTL so I’m relying on that translation.
    • I don’t even know where to begin with this family. By the end of the story I didn’t like any of them. So, after Renee accomplished that miracle in which everyone was healed in the Vuos war in season 1 of the manhwa, things slowly and creepily began to move towards her ultimate doom with the imperial family. The funny thing is that others gave her hints along the way and our girl is so naive that she missed all the clues.
    • See, the imperial family is a family of tyranny. They consolidate power by trying to squash opposition. According to Mahala, the current head of Gloria, the saint from 30 years ago was basically driven to her death by the imperial family. Like Renee tried to do, the previous saint rejected the imperial family’s offer to become a saint and join hands with the imperial family. The previous saint wanted to be free and continue her work with orphans. She even fell in love with a man who seemed to be a herbalist and was from humble origins. What did the imperial family do? Assassinate the man and basically drove the point home that the saint must submit to their offer. The saint finally married into the imperial family, because...like there was no room for dissent any longer...and she eventually lost all her joy and died. Since she was a cherished friend of Mahala’s, Mahala has regretted her death for 30 years and is waiting to avenge her death. It’s probably why Mahala grew attached to Renee and decided to advise and help her against the tyranny of the imperial family. She didn’t want the same thing to happen to clueless Renee.
    • So, how did Renee walk right into her doom? Like I said, slowly and naively. (By the way, since MC is from modern times, I actually thought she would have caught the hints early on) Like I posted previously, when the crown prince Elvin told Renee at the victory party to come to the light with him as part of the conversation to cheat on Caber, I already pretty much figured out that the imperial family had set their sight on Renee. The CP also pretty much showed signs of paving this path too before returning to the capital but Caber, unfortunately or fortunately, interfered. It was very important when the CP wanted Renee to ride on his horse back to the capital. It would be a symbol of “The Saint and the Hero of Light”. lol Like a publicity stunt to promote the saint’s affiliation with the imperial family and potential partner to the hero of light. Honestly, these people are quite thorough in their tyranny of paving out other people’s lives without the person’s consent.
    • The CP, on behalf of his mafia imperial family, made an offer to Renee to enter Gloria and be given the title of saint. Over time Renee considered the offer but she didn’t want to leave her temple which is a different religion to the religion that the imperial family joined hands with. See, the imperial family uses the religion to maintain a firm hold over their people because religion influences people. To have a saint from another religion is perceived as a threat to them because they don’t directly deal with the temple of Elnur that Renee belongs to.

    • Admittedly, Renee does begin to see the dark aspects of the imperial family even before they come to heads. Now that she’s out of her CP bubble, she noticed how differently they treated the knights of light and the Nykll knights. She even realizes that it’s like the imperial family has brainwashed the public just by their widely different response to the two sets of knights even though the Nykll knights also accomplished victories every time. She noticed how differently the public treated Caber. For instance, one time Caber took her shopping for a new coat and everybody was trembling and fearful and absolutely nothing that Caber did warranted that kind of behavior. Then when she went outside the store to wait on him, people in the streets saw his carriage and pointed at it and ran away. Then they went to a lake and there’s a bridge to get to a tree in the middle of the lake and everybody emptied the bridge in fear. Honestly, it’s quite ridiculous and sad. Renee realized that day that even she reacted that way and it’s like she was brainwashed because of all the bad and exaggerated rumors about Caber when the man himself isn’t a monster.
    • Renee delayed answering the imperial family’s offer for a good while. She even went on another campaign to Iiknur where ancient monsters appeared and the knights had to slay them and Mahala and Gloria had to find out why the ancient beasts are appearing and why the temple is constantly submerged in water. This is the arc where Renee and the CP accidentally enters the past. This campaign is also where Renee and Caber becomes closer and even plans to get engaged when they return to the capital. The problem is, apparently there is an old book that prophesies about the CP and saint appearing in the period that Renee and the CP visited in the past age/era. This, of course, gave the imperial family more grounds to bring Renee under their fold because now she went back to the past with the CP and they appear in a prophecy so their intention is to make her empress although she’s still oblivious. In fact, it’s quite gratifying to see how much Renee missed Caber and cried because she missed him on rainy days because she knows how much Caber must be suffering since she disappeared and she’s not there to put him to sleep on a rainy day.
    • After the CP and Renee returned to the present time, Renee immediately ran into Caber’s arms hugging him and crying. The girl even slept in his barracks that night on the same bed. Mahala notices that Renee is growing closer to Caber and eventually talks with her and indirectly warns her to be more aware. She kind of gave her a hint that the offer the imperial family made to her is not a choice. She says it in a slightly ambiguous way but Renee just takes her comment at face value for now. Mahala also tells Renee to come to her when she has no other way. This is all foreshadowing.
    • After solving the temple issue, the group returned to the capital. Renee learns from Duan, Tyrak’s brother-in-law, that she and the CP appears in an ancient prophecy. Duan is also kind of warning her too. She’s still not getting the tyranny of the imperial family because nobody is outright telling her. They only drop hints. Duan also tells her that the saint normally marries into the imperial family. Renee is repulsed by this and says she has no intention to do that. She will marry the duke.

    • Caber goes to his duchy outside the capital. He invited Renee but she had to decline because she was traveling with her temple priest to another temple of Elnur. By time she returned to the capital, Caber is still not back. While she’s at the institution where Duan and Tyrak’s wife works, she’s telling Tyrak that she has no dress to wear to the victory ball. Tyrak suggests that his wife, whom Renee visits, can take her shopping for a dress. Unfortunately the opportunistic CP appears out of nowhere and is, as usual, eavesdropping on her conversation. He insists on taking Renee shopping to get the dress and that he will be her partner if the duke (Caber) doesn’t return in time since Tyrak had just finished telling Renee that Caber was held up at the duchy. Clueless, naive Renee eventually agrees to go to find a dress with the CP. All of their actions create rumors in the capital that the CP and the saint are dating. He took her to a boutique to get fitted for her dress and he escorted her to the ball. He’s practically attached to her hip and at one point, he even hugs her shoulder to prevent her from bumping into a server and his hand remained there until Renee pushes it off. At one point Renee had enough of it because she realized what’s happening when people keep looking at them as a couple. Furthermore, the CP is actually creating the atmosphere by his actions toward her. While they both had to appear together at the reception when answering questions about their experience in the past era, the dude was acting like her lover. In addition, Renee doesn’t like parties so everything was getting too much for her. She decided to go to a balcony and the CP accompanied her. Renee is displeased by his behavior. He had even tried to get her not to wear the engagement bracelet that Caber gave her. The CP recognizes it’s an heirloom of the duchesses of Williard. Renee refused to take it off and still wears it. Due to Renee’s displeasure with people’s conversation and the CP’s disposition with her, Renee tells him right then and there that she won’t accept their offer and that she won’t leave her temple. She also stated she will study for Gloria and enter the organization through the proper means. She also intends to get engaged and marry Caber soon.
    • Shortly after telling the CP about this, Renee’s life became hell. She experienced that true horror of perfect tyranny. First, they came and arrest the head priest because in his written letters he called Renee a saint when she didn’t have the title yet. Renee recognizes this is absurd because every where she goes, even at the balls, the nobles call her a saint. However, the imperial family arrests the head priest pending trial and execution. Next, the second confirmation that Lily needed to finalize her entry into Gloria was rejected. Poor girl worked so hard to get in, was already working with Gloria in the Iiknur campaign and all of a sudden, she supposedly failed to get the final confirmation. Renee understands that this is the imperial family’s doing. She goes to Caber to get help after Tyrak suggests this and she arrives just in time to see the imperial army outside Caber’s mansion with a warrant. The butler refuse to open the gates because Caber isn’t there. He’s still in the duchy. This just shows how soon after Renee tells her rejection to the CP that they began their tyrannical plot against Renee. Caber arrives just in time to hear the argument between his people and the imperial army. He takes the notice from the imperial guard and reads it. The imperial family is bringing tax charges and penalties against him for evading taxes. This is news to Caber but he already has a hint to where the imperial family’s villainy lies in this. It has to do with the imperial family’s plot with his father and brother to kill him three years ago.
    • Renee is utterly devastated by this snow ball assault of the people she cares about most. She’s angry, sad, helpless and she feels responsible for all of this. She suddenly remembers Mahala’s warning about if it’s really a “choice” that she was given by the imperial family. She now realizes what Mahala meant. It was never a choice from the start. She goes to Mahala and she’s angry with Mahala for working with the imperial family to reject Lily from Gloria. After Renee calms down, Mahala gives her chamomile tea and has a talk with her. One of the things she lays out is how the imperial family maintains its tyranny. She even enlightens Renee about the imperial family’s treatment of Caber and his knights. She points out if she doesn’t realize that Caber and his knights are especially sent to conquests of countries while the CP is sent to quell rebellions. By doing this, the imperial family aims to show Caber as blood thirsty and basically show the CP as an hero of light. People will be in an uproar about rebellion and support the CP in a positive light while Caber is seen as an aggressor for going to conquer countries. Mahala even tells Renee about how the imperial family tried to kill Caber many times by sending him to extremely dangerous places. Fortunately Caber is not stupid and is quite aware of the fact that this is what they’re continuously doing to him. She also talks about the fact that the imperial family was involved in Caber’s brother and father’s attempt to kill him. In a nutshell, the imperial family has led a long plot to promote their CP and destroy Caber who was also a talent of the same age. Unfortunately it worked so well that their CP is ingrained in the minds of the public as a hero of light and Caber is seen as a slaughterer. Mahala advises Renee to give in to the imperial family and she will help her destroy the imperial family’s hold over her. However, she has to break up with Caber because the imperial family just might try again to kill him. In addition, Mahala tells Renee that the imperial family probably wants Caber dead because they’re trying to give the title of duke to one of the princes. (What a “family of light”)

    • Renee visits the head priest in prison and tells him he will be out soon. Poor man tries to comfort Renee and the whole thing is just sad. On her way out of the prison, Renee runs into the face of her especial tormentor. That would be Lucia, the only princess in the imperial family and sister to the CP. Renee has tea with her and tells her she accepts her offer. She will become a saint, leave her temple and break up with Caber. The tyrannical princess has no qualms about telling Renee about their plot three years ago to kill Caber. She also tells Renee that she has a document of promise where she’s suppose to marry the duke. It can be Kervian or Caber because it’s the title that’s listed and not the name. Of course Kervian is dead so it can only be Caber. In this document is also the details of the tax that they reduced in agreement with Caber’s father and brother. Meanwhile, they are accusing Caber of tax evasion and penalties. In other words, she’s not even hiding their corruption from Renee because, you know, it’s that type of tyrannical power.
    • Renee leaves the temple accompanied by the opportunistic CP. She and Mahala have agreed that she must absolutely submit to the imperial family so that means she has to act with all her might because inside she’s extremely angry about the absolute tyranny over her life. She’s also still upset by what they did to her precious people and she also had to break up with Caber. Meanwhile, fortunately Mahala intervened so that she will stay at Gloria rather than with the imperial family. Renee works with Duan, Mahala and sometimes Tyrak’s wife, Niyan, in order to prepare her skills for a war campaign. Mahala and Renee intends to make the people of the empire acknowledged her independent of the imperial family so that she can gain her independence and live her life the way she wants. Nevertheless, the shameless CP actually comes regularly to take walks with Renee in order to court Renee. Of course this solidified the rumors throughout the capital that the hero of light and the saint are in a relationship.
    • Renee is supposed to be crowned a saint. Her escort will of course be the CP. When he escorts her on stage and she’s about to make her oath to the royal family, she begins to cough up blood. Turns out she was poisoned by the maid who was helping her dress. She’s a fanatic of the Belzata kingdom which has only one religion. Renee almost died from the poison but thankfully Mahala and others were quick to administer healing. This action, of course, leads to war. Renee insists on going because she wants to use this war to gain her independence from the tranny of the imperial family.
    • When she goes to war, it’s at first uncomfortable because some of the knights and healers who went on prior campaign know that Caber and Renee were friendly but now it’s all about the saint and the CP. Not to mention Renee told Caber not to talk to her or approach her when he sees her. After getting used to or ignoring the situation, Renee focused on contributing to the war. At one point when they went to capture a fort, the leader of Belzata cursed Renee and she couldn’t use her divine power. She therefore became useless and she always had a guard detail. She’s also frustrated because she needs to achieve a major accomplishment in this war. Once she was resting in her tent and decided to take a walk outside, she heard the Nykll knights worrying that Caber was hurt by black magic. The night before Caber saw her walking with her guards and had approached her to ask if she was okay since she was cursed by black magic. She gave him a very hurtful response and basically told him to stay away from her. Now that she heard the knights quietly talking about him getting hurt, the girl took off running towards the gate where the incident occurred. When she sees Caber, she breaks down crying in front of everybody including Caber, Mahala and CP. Caber doesn’t approach her though. He is hurt but not badly. His arm has an injury where he pushed Tyrak out of the way of the black magic. Mahala tried to quickly resolve the situation by swiftly taking Renee away. See, Renee isn’t supposed to reveal her weakness but she just did.
    • Later that night Renee goes out for a walk with the guards. The CP sees her and decides to walk with her. Renee basically asks him what does he want. He’s obviously showing concern for Renee but this is the first time since the oppression that Renee behaves with hostility. She’s always suppressed her true feelings about the imperial family including in her dealings with the CP. Renee eventually leaves the CP standing there and the CP reflects on his life. He’s basically always had a life where he gets what he wants. After all, he was recognized as a rare talent from a young age and he’s a successful person. He knows that other people can be fake but it’s all part of the life he leads with the fawning nobles. He liked Renee’s honesty when she plainly said he was using her in the Vuos campaign. After Renee did the miracle, he knew all along where things would lead. She will come to the light. The problem was Caber. He didn’t really think seriously about it at first because Renee seemed afraid of Caber. However, he noticed that things changed somewhere. He especially noticed how sad Renee was when they went back into the past and how she cried holding the bracelet that Caber gave her. And when they returned to the present, Renee ran crying into Caber’s arms. He tried to delay his family’s tyrannical plot but ultimately he would benefit from it too just like he benefits from all their other tyrannical plots. He actually only started feeling guilty after he would take Renee on walks in the capital and she was different. It felt like she was acting. Her laugh was no longer clear and her smile was fake. Still, he thought she would come around with time and accept him and his family. He also knew what his family did to Caber three years ago but he didn’t care. (Dude doesn’t get his hands dirty but benefits from the sidelines heh. It’s quite clever. Nobody can ever accuse him of not being nice). Now he saw Renee break down crying in front of Caber earlier that day so he’s finally feeling full blown guilt.
    • At one point Renee and Caber falls down a cliff and gets separated from the rest of the group. They’re both hurt but intends to get back to their group ASAP because they might run into the enemy army. Renee still can’t use her divine power so she can’t heal Caber. She’s also still suffering from the poison she ingested at the saint ceremony back in the capital. Therefore, it’s imperative to get back to the group. Fortunately, on one hand, they gained invaluable information from watching the leader of Belzata in an incident while they hid. Renee recognizes a necklace that the leader is wearing. It has to do with her experience back in Iiknur. Eventually, through some dangerous troubles they get back safely to the group. CP also brings Renee an antidote to the poison she ingested. He also offers her to return to capital so that she can be safe especially since she can’t use her divine power. She promptly refuses him because she has a goal she intends to accomplish. She thanks him for the antidote but clearly, at this point, Renee is hopping mad at him and his family. She can’t suppress it any longer and is openly hostile to him. ( I think her current frame of mind is due to everything that happened to her in a short period of time. Her loved ones collectively threatened, she was forced to become a saint and promptly poisoned. Now the poison was still in her body and then she was cursed because she was forced to go on a campaign as the only means for her to gain her independence from the aims of the imperial family)
    • Eventually, in a moment of crisis, Renee regains her divine power and fights against the leader of Belzata. She defeats him and heals him where his neck was rotting because of an ancient necklace of their religion. Renee can touch the necklace without her skin rotting. The leader surrenders or rather, calls a truce to the war because of Renee. He likes her power. By the way, he almost killed the CP twice and Renee saved the CP by using her blinding light and shield. It was funny that at one point Renee tells the CP how does it feel to be touched by the light (her power lol). Anyway, the leader of Belzata likes Renee and starts to call her sister. The dude follows her around a lot. Renee realizes she can use him to gain her freedom because he basically stopped the war because of her. Fortunately, the leader is willing to be used. Renee immediately sheds all pretenses. She’s with Caber. The leader is even hanging around her and Caber. lol
    • The CP comes to Renee and asks to speak in private. She’s not too pleased about it but goes anyway. He tells her that he will ascend the throne soon and he will no longer interfere with her because he no longer has to follow the emperor’s orders (poor excuse). She doesn’t have to be his empress and he apologizes for what they did to her. He’s also complicit in what they did to her. Renee is still hostile and she even thinks if the CP is trying to say he’s doing her a favor by giving her back her freedom. Renee straight up tells him that he can’t interfere with her anyway. She looks at the leader of the other country and he waves to her. She understands that she has the upper hand now and that the leader defeated the CP and now she has the backing of a powerful person. So, she basically conveyed to the CP that he and his family cannot touch her anymore and it was through her own efforts rather than his grace/kindness/mercy/favor.
    • When they return to the capital, the leader of the other country and his delegates are with the group. As usual, cheering is heard for everyone else but Caber and now the leaders of the other country who is with Caber and Renee. The emperor and Lucia are waiting. The saint is recognized for her prominent achievement in the war. The emperor asks her what is her wish and he will grant it. She wishes for Gloria to be independent of the imperial family. lol The emperor was forced to agree in front of everyone. Renee looks at Mahala and the two are happy that they achieved their goal.
    • Another great piece of news to fight against tyranny is that Caber decides to become independent from the empire. His duchy is very wealthy and with the backing of the leader of the other country who will open diplomatic ties with the empire, Caber successfully achieved independence. This is his gift to Renee. In that way they don’t have to be victims of the imperial family again. Renee’s gift to Caber was her independence from the imperial family. Renee will head Gloria after training with Mahala so the two plotted to be independent from the tyranny of the imperial family.
    • At the party to celebrate the end of war, Lucia comes up to Renee and basically told her she (Renee) won. Renee still has to deal with the imperial family at times but thankfully they don’t have to deal with them too much anymore. Caber’s knights also came under his authority completely with the condition that he will help when the imperial family needs them.
I honestly didn’t agree with Renee not admitting to Caber that she made the love confession to him by mistake. I felt it was twisted. However, I really do think it saved her from becoming the tragic saint 2.0. Caber is an introvert and initially rough but after the CP showed up uninvited at his house and overtly flirted with Renee about cheating, Caber and Renee had a fight.

It’s the fight that changed Caber’s rough behavior. Renee basically told him that he scares her and hurt her wrist in his rough grasp. It’s amazing how this changes his behavior for a very long time. It effectively made him cautious about any and everything he does with Renee. So much so that Renee has to initiate quite a few things between them (his behavior kinds of remind me of Arhad in Reminiscent Adonis). He doesn’t touch her unnecessarily. He doesn’t ask her out if he thinks it’s an inconvenience for her. Just a really cautious man after the fight. He’s very sincere in his behavior towards her. For example, she told him about the first snow and lovers viewing it together meant they will be together forever. When the first snow came, she finds him outside in the early morning waiting for her. Renee was truly moved by it because he remembered what she said and waited in the cold until he saw her.

After that fight, things really took a turn with them and they began to grow closer. However, it’s not until the Iiknur arc that their relationship accelerated. They shared their first kiss there, initiated by Renee. They also decided to get engaged during that arc. It’s when Caber gave Renee the bracelet to protect her. Even during the breakup she never gave it back to him. It protected her many times.

When they fell of the cliff together, that’s when they reconciled although they continued to hide it for a bit afterwards. After Renee broke down crying in front of everyone because Caber was hurt, I don’t know who could doubt her feelings for Caber. So Caber knew her feelings and they pretty much they rekindled their relationship after the fall from the cliff. They married within six months after the war. They have two adorable kids later on. I’m quite partial to their son Robin because he seems like a cutie pie. He wakes up mommy with daddy each morning.

Renee attends the party with Caber. The dress is bought by Caber but was chosen by Lily, the butler and the boutique owner. During the party, Caber is held up by some of the aristocrats. These particular aristocrats hang on to Caber as a tool because he’s the leader of the aristocrat party though I doubt Caber does anything more than his duty.

While Caber is busy, Renee goes outside. She’s thoughtful about the evening so far. She saw the CP at the party. As usual he was praised a lot and surrounded by the nobles. Renee thinks that it’s the moment when she felt a new distance from him. He felt strange to her when she saw his attitude of smiling softly and responding kindly to those who approached him. Renee felt odd when she realized his kindness wasn’t really confined to her. However, she didn’t feel sad so it was weird. She questions herself and wonders if she had really liked him. The more she thought about it, the stranger it was. She thinks she started to like him when he put a bandage on her ankle. Then she wonders if she liked him before that. She thinks that it’s funny to think about it but she kind of believes that they both used each other as a means. She wonders if it’s his looks she liked. She then realizes that her worries are gradually flowing in a strange direction. She thinks that maybe the CP liked her since she and Lily agreed that he took care of her more than others at the barracks. Still, Renee is confused. She asks herself if she really liked the CP. She wonders if that’s the case, why isn’t she sad to see him so popular with other ladies at the party.

As she’s pondering these thoughts, someone else comes to the secluded part of the place where she’s at. She decides to go back down the stairs to get away. The person is coming up the stairs and she’s going down. It turns out it’s the CP. Renee is so surprised by his appearance that she takes a step back. He greets her and she returns his greeting with an awkward smile. She wonders if he came up there to think too. Renee looks at him quietly because of an unfamiliar sense of incompatibility and she was also ashamed because just a few moments ago she kept thinking whether she liked him or not. She couldn’t wait to get out of there since she felt awkward. She felt like he will be able to read her mind.

There were five steps between them so Renee needs to pass him to get down. The CP laughs. He tells her he was a little frustrated at the party so he came out for a walk. Renee kind of regrets coming out for a walk. She begins to walk down to pass him. She makes an excuse that the moon is beautiful and now that she’s seen it, she’ll head back down the stairs. Suddenly the CP steps up towards her as though he intends to block her descent. He tells her the dress looks good on her. Renee laughs and tells him thanks. He asks her if the dress is tailored to her. She almost answered when she realized that he’s asking if Caber bought her that dress. While she’s agonizing over the response to give him, he seemed to take her behavior as the answer to his question. Uncomfortable, she also compliments him on his attire.

Just a step between them, the CP calls out “Priest”. Renee feels a strange sensation in the quiet moonlight when he addresses her like this. She decides to step back and he takes a step up. She realizes that this is no longer a coincidence. He is willfully blocking her descent. He’s behaving differently and she doesn’t like it. It’s unfamiliar to her. He looks down on her and asks her if he’s mistaken. Didn’t she like him? Renee was so surprised by his questions that her eyes opened wide. He then laughed. He wonders if she’s in a relationship with the Lord (Caber who isn’t a duke yet). Renee was so silent again that she didn’t realize until he approached her and covers her hand on the railing with his. Their faces are close together. They’re in a dark, secluded place together. He bends down and whispers to her if they should cheat while smiling beautifully.

Renee looks at the CP with unfamiliar eyes. She was embarrassed by the strange words that he just said. Embarrassed and flustered. She keeps thinking about the contrast between his beauty, that secluded place and his words. Basically, she’s swept away by him and the setting. He asks her again if she didn’t like him. Renee is still astonished by his question and behavior and doesn’t say anything. She thinks she would be swayed in a strange direction if she answered him. Overall, she just felt embarrassed about the situation.

Due to this, Renee found a clue though not an exact answer about her feelings for the CP. She ponders that if she really liked him, wouldn’t she be nervous about his suggestion? Wouldn’t she have blushed with excitement? In the current situation, which she found embarrassing and scary, she took a step away from her confused feelings and look at herself. She carefully removed her hand from the CP’s hand. The CP let her hand go. She tried not to make it obvious that she was avoiding him.

Finally she asks him why he asked her if she liked him. She says she knows he treated her with kindness and she appreciated it. She reflects on the time they spent together. She thought all along that he cared about her divine power and she was glad to see him up close but at some point he said he cared for her and not only her divine power. She believes that’s when her confusion about her feelings started. She was confused by the way he comforted her and cared for her minor injuries. However, with the surrender of Vuoss, the war ended and she was no longer a priest. She thinks he’s been very friendly to her and she wonders if he also experienced confusion about his feelings for her just like she became confused about her feelings for him.

Therefore, she asks the CP if she’s now a “means” for him again? She thinks that if he liked her, why would he give her that strange offer (about cheating). Renee thinks she didn’t entirely like the CP either but she really wanted to ask him if he liked her at all although it was contradictory. Suddenly, the CP starts laughing. Renee grew embarrassed because it was a laugh that didn’t suit the situation. Once again, he changed his smile. He asks Renee if she wants to be his “purpose”. Renee is speechless. Rather than being carried away by him, she decided to keep silent.

Eventually the CP asks if Renee turned down his offer because she’s afraid of Caber. She doesn’t answer him although he is right that she get goosebumps thinking of being caught cheating. She doesn’t want to live like a candle in the wind. The CP sweetly tells her that she doesn’t have to worry. Renee is surprised by his remark. It’s like the CP is telling her don’t worry about Caber and Caber’s existence doesn’t matter. (How am I supposed to pity someone as confident as the CP? Dude is brimming with confidence). The CP, in the moonlight, affectionately whispers to Renee that the light will shine on him and the priest so she doesn’t have to worry about Caber.

Renee promptly makes her escape. She thinks that what the CP said to her was strange. It’s strange to say that the light will shine on them so suddenly. She was horrified by his smile as he looked down at her so she stepped aside. He blocked her again and told her to take it easy. Therefore Renee jumped down without answering. It was dangerous but she basically runaway by a precarious descent. She thinks what the hell is the CP saying. What was with that attitude that said not to worry about Caber’s existence at all? Moreover, what was that about the light shining on them as though Caber’s existence didn’t matter as if it was natural?

Renee’s thoughts were mixed up and frustrated. She then realized that she’s been gone for a while. She thinks that by now Caber would be aware of her absence. Sure enough, she hears his low voice calling her. He asks her what she was doing up there and she said she was looking at the beautiful moon. She feels guilty. Although she turned down the CP’s odd offer, the entire situation made her feel awful because she’s deceiving Caber who is treating her sweetly. They decide to leave the party. She asks Caber why he likes her. He said he likes everything about her. He likes her smile, the way she cares for others and her priesthood (probably her competence).
So, Renee and Caber are slowly getting to know each other and are actually getting along. Caber invites her to his mansion for dinner. They have tea, probably on a balcony, before dinner. Renee begins to ask Caber the name of various flowers in the garden. He gives the names after he thinks about it for a bit. Renee finds it amusing because it’s totally like he isn’t really into flowers but memorized the names so that he could guide her through the garden in a knowledgeable way. Turns out that he did memorize the names the day before. lol I guess this is all part of his conviction to only show her beautiful things. Renee is seriously tickled by his sincerity. At the same time she’s embarrassed. Why does he look so peaceful as though it’s natural to care for her. She realizes that he’s really happy to be spending time with her and the setting is lovely.

Caber asks her if she has any more questions and her heart trembled sharply. Every time she faces him, her heart reacts honestly but now it was ticklish as if it was in a different chest. Her chest trembled. Just as they were about to head in for dinner, the butler approached Caber. He says there is a visitor. Caber isn’t expecting anyone so he tells the butler to send them back. The butler says it’s the darn CP. Caber wants to know why the dude showed up at his house without an invitation. Turns out the CP is looking for Renee. She’s been avoiding him like a plague after he made her that strange offer about cheating. She makes sure she leaves the temple to avoid him. The butler tried to send the uninvited guest away but the guy insists that he wants to see Renee. This sort of ruins the atmosphere between Caber and Renee.

Eventually they allow the CP into the residence. Renee decides to talk with him in the garden while Caber moves away. The CP tells her it’s hard to see her. As usual, in her thoughts, Renee is admiring his looks. The CP tells her she’s hard to find nowadays. He’s here to finish their conversation from last time. Renee immediately gets nervous and offers him to walk in the garden because she thinks Caber, who is close by, will hear his inappropriate conversation. Renee is trying not to give the wrong impressions to Caber so she stays in sight but walks a distance out of earshot. Immediately she asks the CP what on earth does he want to talk about. He asks her why she’s wary of him. Her attitude was sharp and he seemed to anticipate her reaction. The dude starts to talk about the duke’s garden and Renee decided not to respond because she didn’t want to prolong the conversation. Renee observes that the CP seem to be enjoying the situation. (I’m glad she ends up disliking him later on. Why is he trying to corner her at the duke’s place?)

He tells her congratulations. She asks for what. He said they decided to give her the title of Holy Lady. She finds it unbelievable because other saints did more work and miracles before being given the title. She thinks this is nonsense. The CP says there’s a condition though. They will also require her to enter Gloria. Renee doesn’t want to leave the temple of Elnur. She notices the CP’s expression changed. She doesn’t want to enter Gloria too because she doesn’t want to face beasts and admittedly, people dying in front of her. She tells the CP that she’s not confident in facing the seriously injured. The CP thinks her weakest is her strength to save others.

Expediting the conversation, Renee asks if entering Gloria is the second congratulation. They want her to be a priest in Gloria. He encourages her to join Gloria. She won’t have to take the test. So, the offer is that she would be given the title of saint only if she enters Gloria. Renee wants to know what’s the connection. She also asks what if she refuses the offer. The CP tells her this is a good opportunity. She knows that naturally the offer means honor, status and money but something is bothering her. She thinks it’s weird that she would only get the title if she enters Gloria. If she refuses to enter Gloria, she won’t get the title. Finally she realizes that the connection is the imperial family. They’re only going to give her the title if she enters Gloria, an organization where they wield authority. Basically, she will belong to the imperial family and not the temple of Elnur.

Consequently, she asks the CP if they want her to be a part of the empire (the country) or the imperial city (their monopoly). The CP asks if there’s anything in it to harm the priest (what a joke considering the latter actions). The CP actually tells her that she would just be getting closer to the light (such mumbo jumbo) because the light will shine on the priest. He takes a step closer and tells her that he wants her to think positively. In addition to this proposal, his other proposal (cheating and/or joining him) is still valid. He tells her to take her time and answer his proposal. He tells her they will be waiting. Renee asks for what and he starts to talk about cheating. She unconsciously raised her hand to cover his mouth.

She knows Caber won’t be able to hear but she responds to the CP in a low voice that she refuse his offer then. The dude just smiles. Renee looks at Caber and the CP tells her to go ahead because they’re done talking. He laughs and seems very pleased about the situation. He kisses her hand and tells her may the blessing of the light be with her. This makes Renee very afraid because the dude is acting nonchalantly without any regard to his actions that are undoubtedly provoking Caber’s temper.

Caber asks the CP what the hell he’s doing. The dude nonchalantly says he came to say hello to the priest and he’s sure Caber saw it. It’s like he’s making mockery of Caber as he watches his expression subside in a relaxed manner. Renee feels that the nonchalant look almost embarrasses her. Caber asks him why he came to his place when he could have sent a letter. Renee is very anxious about the situation but she notices the CP looks relaxed. Her shoulders tremble at Caber’s chilling voice. The CP tells Caber about the title offer that he presented to Renee. He said he will say goodbye for today because it up to the priest to decide. Renee observes that the CP smiled beautifully and brightly, which didn’t suit the situation. So basically while she and Caber are suffering under the awkward situation, the CP is quite at ease. I think the CP tells Caber that he wouldn’t be this suspicious if Renee was his. He then withdraw from the garden with a light bow.

The atmosphere is spectacularly ruined from the time the CP showed up. Caber has a bad expression and looks like he’s barely keeping his patience. Not to mention that the CP’s last words about Caber’s insecurity made the situation even worse. Renee notices Caber is very upset and tries to call him in a small voice. He grabs her wrist and drags her away. She’s never seen this kind of face from him before. She’s gets very frightened. She’s never seen him this angry.

Caber demands an explanation for the CP’s words and behavior. She tells him about the proposal for saint and Gloria. He laughs bitterly and tells her that they’re making her belong to the imperial family. Renee thinks Caber seems very familiar with this situation. He immediately understood the underlying implications of the proposal. He takes a step closer to her and she steps back. She wants to know what’s the other offer (cheating) that was mentioned. Renee is afraid as it’s like he’s interrogating her to dig up information about the conversations she had with the CP. She starts to feel resentment for his aggression towards her. She definitely refused the CP’s offer to cheat but it was the CP who ignored her answer so why is she suffering from Caber’s anger. She answers Caber and tells him that the CP made a strange offer but she refused him and the CP kept trying to bring it up again but she refused again.

Renee thinks that although she was confused by her feelings for the CP before, she made up her mind and avoided meeting him on purpose afterwards. And a little while ago she asked him to leave after saying what he wanted. She’s done everything she can to respond to him. It’s unfair, sad, and scary that she has to face Caber’s anger because of the bad feelings the CP created. Her anger soared and she shouts out loud, “damn the light”. Then she shouts to Caber if he wants to talk to her or threaten her. She was so scared by the situation that she could faint. She tried to tell Caber as much as possible about what happened between the CP and her but she doesn’t feel obligated to say everything. She asks Caber if he has any idea how scary it is to have her wrists held and forced to come to the dark place to talk threateningly?

Caber calls her name. Renee thinks of the other time he dragged her to the cliff in Vuos. She feels it’s unfair and she was scared. She feels so sad that she breaks out crying. She tells Caber that she answered him but he didn’t listen. He’s just forcing her to keep talking. She’s sad and angry. Caber’s face completely changes as he watches her cry. He backs away from her and apologizes. He said he acted emotionally although he knew she was scared. He admits he was really, really wrong and asks her not to cry. Renee couldn’t accept his apology yet because she felt the injustice of the situation and walks away but she can’t open the back door so Caber has to go open it for her. In her usual clumsiness, she almost fell so Caber has to grab her wrist. As soon as he does this he looks alarmed since she had just complained how he drags her by her wrist so he immediately lets go once she’s safe. Renee notices it right away. But still she ends up falling. She’s embarrassed and says she hates it. She knows that Caber probably thinks she means him but she doesn’t correct him.

After this fight, Caber becomes very cautious right to the end of the story. He doesn’t initiate physical contact with Renee. She’s the one who usually initiates it. He also thinks a lot about whether something is a burden to Renee before he brings it up. In a way it’s good in the short run but it sometimes makes Renee impatient in the long run because he thinks a lot before making a move in their relationship. That’s one of the reasons why Renee kissed him first because he always held back. Renee kind of propose to him too.

    • So, after Renee and Caber’s big fight, he doesn’t show up in front of her. Instead he sends poor Tyric every day for a week. Like he sends medicine for bruises for her wrist. Renee thinks her wrist isn’t bruised so she doesn’t use it. However, Tyric keeps coming every day to ask if she’s okay, if she slept well, etc. According to how she responds, another gift might come like tea to help her sleep well. lol Renee thinks she’s sick and tired of seeing Tyric’s face everyday and wonders when the duke will come. He’s preparing for succession now and she wonders if he’s that busy.

    • Renee feels bad for Tyric getting caught up in the issue between her and Caber. She asks Tyric if Caber ordered him to come here every day. He answers that Caber told him that he doesn’t want to scare her. He also tells her that he never saw Caber agonize and wander over anything so he knew it was a love problem. She pretty much figures that Caber is digging himself into a hole with his agony.
    • Renee tells Tyric to tell Caber to come to the temple. While she waits, she thinks that she was drunk and accidentally confessed to Caber and then she was afraid of him. When he dragged her to the cliff, she was afraid of him. Then she realized that in their fight, she said how she honestly felt. That means she isn’t as afraid of him as before. She thinks that he wouldn’t hurt her.
    • Renee watches as Caber arrives at the temple with a large bouquet of flowers. She watches him walk back and forth in front of the building fidgeting. He’s obviously nervous. They meet each other and he’s still nervous. He begins to apologize like an apology letter. Sorry for shouting, sorry for forcing you, sorry for dragging you by the wrist, sorry for everything, one by one. Renee asks him if this is what Tyric advised him to do. He doesn’t answer. Eventually he says she doesn’t have to forgive him and he did everything wrong. However, he doesn’t want her to say she won’t see him anymore. Renee thinks Caber still thinks that she said she hates him when in fact she meant she hated the situation where she fell in front of him while attempting to open the back door.
    • She looks at the unusual bouquet of flowers and asks him what are they. Caber told her it’s the flowers she said she liked. Of course her lie has come back to bite her although she admits that the flowers are beautiful but they are the flowers that he showed her in the mountain of Vuos where she nonchalantly says they’re pretty because she was uncomfortable with him. Now she’s speechless because he went out of his way to prepare that unusual bouquet of flowers for her.
    • It was that moment when Renee couldn’t say anything. The moment she held an armful of flowers that she doesn’t know the names of. She looks up at Caber who is apologizing in front of her and wonders what is this mysterious feeling that makes her want to cry.

    • Caber tells her again, he doesn’t mean to ask for her forgiveness. He doesn’t think the wrong he did could be solved because he apologized. He will always live in atonement for his actions but please don’t say she doesn’t want to see him.
    • As the days pass, Renee would look at the flowers and add her divine power to prevent them wilting. Lily sees her doing this and teases her. She thinks that Caber didn’t know the names of the flowers in his own garden so how did he find these unusual flowers that he showed her months ago. All of his gifts of apology and his sincerity are creating these unknown emotions inside her.
    • Caber is having his succession to finally get the title of duke after all these years. The Williard family wants to have a party because it’s the first succession in many years. Caber tells Renee about the party but didn’t ask her to attend. He didn’t even recommend that she attend in the first place. She also noticed that after he gave her the bouquet of flowers and apologized, he began to read her mind. So he told her that it’s okay not to come to the party.
    • Ah, but the Williard family showed up at the temple behind Caber’s back to invite Renee to dinner. She recognized them by their black hair and pale white skin just like Caber. Apparently it’s a genetic of the family (Caber’s son Robin also has pale white skin and purple eyes but Renee’s hair color). Turns out that the relatives thinks she’s a nominee to be the next duchess so they invited her and gave her dress and jewelry. Caber finds out about this when visiting Renee and he’s embarrassed and apologizes repeatedly. So Renee ends up attending the dinner. Caber promises her that he will cut off any and all talks of marriage from his relatives. He doesn’t want them to burden her with such talks. In fact, Renee thinks he looks so fierce about the issue that she’ll never see his relatives again. She teases him about it and he naturally thinks his fierce expression is scaring her so he panics and softened his expression. Renee laughs and thinks that he’s like a ferocious wolf in front of its master.
    • At the duke’s home, the guests are waiting and seem pleased to see her on Caber’s arm. Renee thinks engagement or marriage is not on her mind because she doesn’t know how to define her relationship with Caber. Before, Lily had advised her to wait until Caber gets tired of her and dumps her since she was afraid to admit she confessed to him by mistake. She looks up at Caber and thinks of the bouquet of flowers, the medicine and the tea he sent to her to apologize. Caber wonders why she’s looking at him and thinks it’s because of the aristocrats so he asks her if she feels pressured. She denies it. She thinks of the bouquet again and experience strange feelings.
    • Basically Caber shielded her from the aristocrats all evening so that she can eat and enjoy herself. Eventually they took a walk in the garden and Renee thinks they were supposed to do that 10 days ago but ended up failing to do so become of the CP’s sudden visit. It looks like it’s going to rain and something incredible pops out of Renee’s mouth. She asked him if the duke’s ornamental knife really bleed on a rainy day. (Head desk). He looks at her and doesn’t say anything for a while then Caber asks her if she wants to know.
    • There are brutal rumors in the empire for three years now that blood flows from the duke’s residence on rainy days. That’s why people are scared of the duke’s residence on rainy days. Renee has heard the rumors too and secretly wondered if it was true when the duke started coming to the temple on rainy days. She thought she could ask the question now since she feels more comfortable with Caber now. In response, Caber tells her let them watch it together if she’s curious. He’s also curious because he’s never seen it either. Renee shouts that she was wrong in a shaky voice. Caber starts laughing. Renee thinks it’s embarrassing but she notices Caber is smiling at her like she’s cute. Her face heats up. The two eventually thinks it will snow instead and Renee tells Caber the cliche story about if lovers meet on the first day of snow they will be together forever. Renee blushes red when she sees Caber’s purple eyes. Caber is obviously sold on this story and he stands still with a troubled expression for a long time.
    • Sure enough it begins to snow early the next day. Lily and Renee are excited and want to go build snowmen. While they’re chatting, they realize the duke’s carriage is outside. Renee is so shocked she ran out the door in her pajamas then immediately turns back where Lily is waiting with a thick outer garment. Renee is confused about why the duke is there. It’s also very cold outside. She runs the long way to meet Caber. She wants to know why he’s here when today is his succession ceremony. He must be very busy. It also didn’t rain last night so he should be fine. So, why on earth is he here? Caber didn’t answer and tried to give her his coat. She refused because she clearly understood why the redness on his ears and cheeks and piled up snow around his feet that he was there for a long time. She gets mad at him. His cheeks are frozen. She wants to know what’s all this is about. He finally answered that he’s afraid that she’ll be pressured since it was his one-sided wish. He just wanted to see her during the first snow.
    • Renee realizes that Caber thinks that he’s the only one who wishes to be together probably since the day she confessed. She looks at him all frozen and pale and can’t help being moved by his sincerity. She touches his cold cheek and her chest tickles. She warms his cheek with divine power. He laughs a little and says he likes when she worries about him. He tells Renee that from the moment he saw the first snow, she came to his mind. She experiences all kinds of emotions. Caber then tells her that now that he’s seen her it’s all good. He encourages her to go inside out of the cold. She complied but hallway walking back, she just couldn’t walk. She feels all kinds of emotions. Her cheeks heat up and turns red. She’s thinking of Caber and realizes she’s feels immense joy.
    • All day she tries to deny her feelings and makes excuses like it’s because she ran back to the temple and that’s why her heart was beating fast and she flushed. Nevertheless, every time she thinks of her reaction in the morning, she blushes red. She keeps thinking of Caber in her spare time. All of his actions from the time after their argument to the morning of the first snow. She thinks she’s sick. lol She wonders what’s wrong with her. She can’t get him out of her mind and she’s acting like a typical girl with a crush even if she doesn’t realize it.
    • The end of it all is that she decided, on her own, to go to the party that celebrates Caber’s succession even though he didn’t recommend it since he didn’t want to burden her. Renee impulsively decides to go even though the party might be over. She was restless about everything that happened. However, this time when she’s getting dressed, she realized that she wants to look pretty. This surprises her but she doesn’t deny it. She thinks that something has been changing for a long time now.
    • Renee arrives when the party is at its end. She thinks of turning back but when she sees Caber through the window, she walks reflexively towards the party. She wants to see him. She’s announced in the room and everybody stares at her. Caber is surprised but he immediately smiled like it’s good news to put Renee at ease. Well, she’s far from ease because his smile is making her heart thump like crazy. Poor girl feels like she’ll faint. Caber greets her with a laugh and she thinks that he’s a man who didn’t know how to hide his smile.
    • Renee tells Caber that she’s there to congratulate him. Caber is clearly happy by her presence and she thinks their situation is unfamiliar. They’re both definitely experiencing new sides to each other. She wonders why she had turned down coming to the party. Then she realized that besides the burden of politics, she didn’t want to stand beside him without liking him. So she refused to attend the party. But now here she is and Caber looks so happy to see her. Her heart is pounding and a fever is rising on her cheeks.
    • The nobles want to stick around because the saint showed up but Caber ends the party. After all the guests leave, Caber asks about the carriage Renee used to come there and if it’s waiting for her. She ignores the inquiry and instead walks further into the party room. It looks like she intends to stay for a while. She asks him if he enjoyed the party. He said he found it boring until she came. She asks after his health considering he was standing in the cold early that morning. She apologizes for not bringing a gift. Impulsively, in the moment, Renee asks him if he wants to dance. Although she only knows one dance, which Caber taught her for the Vuos victory ball, she still extends her hand to him and he took it. Renee’s heart is doing more strange things and they begin to dance. She thinks Caber’s eyes are filled with laughter and deep emotions. Her heart is beating like crazy. She is very conscious of Caber’s hands around her waist. Her ears are burning up as they continue to dance and she concludes that she has definitely fallen for him. She can’t deny it anymore. She likes Caber. In fact she can’t stop thinking about him.
    • Renee realized she likes Caber. He’s always on her mind nowadays. She tries to study but she can’t even concentrate. She understands now why it’s hard to study in the early stages of a relationship. She keeps crawling into bed and acting giddy when she studies in her room. Heh. Eventually she decides to go to the library with Lily who is hard at work studying for the Gloria exam. At this particular library, there’s a research area where Tyric’s wife, Niyan, works. Renee is interested in magic for defense/attack and Niyan can do explosive magic and shows her some examples.
    • Later when Renee leaves the library with Lily, Lily returns to get a book. Renee is left outside waiting for her and unwisely starts to attempt to do explosive magic in an empty courtyard. Just as she’s about to get herself injured, somebody pulls her back. It’s the CP. He tells her she has to be careful. He tells her it’s amazing she tried to do magic with her divine power but she should only try doing that safely. As usual, she admires his looks in her thoughts. She’s shocked to see him too because he was away in Iiknur regarding the submerged temple. They think the place will collapse.

    • It seems the CP came to the library research section for a request. He talks with Renee about what she was attempting to do by practicing magic. It’s an unusual thing because most healers don’t use magic. He offers to teach her since he can heal as well as use magic. Renee doesn’t want to impose on him. He must surely be busy. She refuses with the excuse that she kind of get the hang of it to practice on her own. They talk about stuff related to the sword, the oath of the knights of light, Abner, etc. Renee sees Lily coming and tells the CP that she’ll think about his offer to teach her. Renee thinks that she’s grateful to the CP for saving her from injury but there are boundaries she needs to keep because he said some things to her before that put her in trouble (with Caber).
    • The CP tells Renee he will see her soon. She asks why. He said he just made her an offer to teach her if she wants. Renee looks at him. He starts laughing and then he tells her he expects that she will accompany the duke to his sister’s birthday party soon. He then talks again about his offer to teach her. She tells him again she will have to think about it.
    • Renee knows she will benefit from accepting the CP’s offer to teach her but she still hesitates because of things he did to her and Caber. She’s also concerned about Caber’s reaction. That issue aside, she couldn’t control her smiling face because Caber sent a gift to cheer her on. I think Lily is taking the Gloria exam so it might be a gift to share. She thinks of going to the duke’s residence because she hasn’t seen him since the night of the party. When she gets outside, Caber is actually at the temple. He came to ask her if she will attend the princess’s party with him. Renee notices that Caber is so careful with her. He cautiously invited her and carefully asks if he can buy her a dress for the party. She recognizes that Caber has been so cautious with her in everything since their fight. He seems worried that even the slightest act of offering something might be considered coercion and didn’t take anything for granted. Even now Caber is telling her that she doesn’t have to agree to attend. She wonders how did he become like this. But then she remembered Caber told her the other day that he acts this way because he wants to take good care of her. Impulsively, Renee walks up to Caber in the present time and hugs him and tells him that she’ll attend the party with him.
    • So, Caber and Renee attend the birthday party of the princess Lucia. Renee thinks the atmosphere is really strange and different from the time of the Vuos war celebration. It’s because Caber is now the duke and leader of the aristocrat party. They all know that the imperial family has far too much power and there was nobody to keep them in check for three years now. (It’s probably why the imperial family kept preventing Caber from getting the duke title while working on diminishing the power of the aristocracy so they can continue their perfect tyranny). Now there’s an undercurrent in the party that the nobles are displeased by the unchecked power of the imperial family. Even Gloria has suffered from diminishing power because of the promotion of Abner and the knights of the Holy Light. Renee feels the tension in the air.
    • However, it’s even more troublesome that the Holy Lady, Renee, is the duke’s partner. They think that with Renee by Caber’s side, his power will increase. This is most likely a threat to the imperial family even if Renee doesn’t yet realize how far tyrants will go to keep their power. Nevertheless, she has some idea of the politics and feels uncomfortable. Caber, reading her reaction, immediately asks her if they should leave the party. Renee thinks they shouldn’t leave. She begins to think Caber hates parties more than she does and teases him while laughing. Caber does a good job at keeping people at bay. He has an unapproachable atmosphere about him. Renee thinks she should get used to parties. It’s only been two months since they returned from Vuos but she’s been to several parties.
    • Eventually the royals come to greet them. That would be the CP and his sister Lucia. As usual, Renee worships their beauty in her thoughts. She thinks the princess is like a goddess. She’s flustered by the princess’s beauty though Caber, as a man, doesn’t even care about the princess’s looks. Lucia greets Renee. Renee goes on quite a bit about the princess’s looks in her thoughts. (It’s honesty quite annoying because it comes across like a fanatic) The girl is even trembling in the presence of Lucia and struggling to talk. The princess asks Renee if she’s in a relationship with the duke. Renee chokes and starts to cough. Caber hands her a glass of water that he took from a server. Instead, the princess starts to talk to Caber and his face gets stiff. (He probably can’t stand her because he knows what they did to him with his father and brother). He talks to the princess in a business-like tone. Renee wonders about the interaction between the two.
    • As she watches Caber talk to the princess, the CP comes in front of her and starts talking to her about Gloria and the title of saint. He’s still trying to convince her and tell her there are no bad conditions. Renee thinks the imperial family’s sycophantic praise has gotten worse over the last 20 years. She’s still hesitant about becoming a member under the imperial family. She’s worried about the unexpected. Everything might look good upfront but it might not be the case in reality. She even thinks perhaps it’s to separate her from Caber. She thinks of this as she watches Lucia talk with Caber. She doesn’t say anything so the CP laughs. He tells her that he respects her cautious attitude because so many things might change. He tells her to take it easy and think positively. She tells him she’ll answer in due time. He keeps selling her on the offer like a salesman.
    • In her mind, Renee thinks that it might be a good offer, but she’s not attracted to it and she wants to refuse but she couldn’t express her refusal because she was worried. She thinks that maybe something bad will happen to her if she refuse like blacklisting her. (She has a modern mindset here because she clearly has no clue what they’re capable of) She thinks they can’t impeach her. Watching Caber, Renee is surprised that he takes the same unfriendly attitude with the imperial family that he does with the nobles. Heh.
    • The royals move away and once again Renee is wondering if the royals have a beauty DNA. They’re so beautiful that it’s no joke. Caber calls out to her as she’s staring at Lucia. He wants to know why she’s staring at the princess like that. She responds that the princess is so beautiful. Caber asks, “Is she?” without the slightest change in expression. Renee wonders what kind of lukewarm response is that. She tells him to look at the princess again. She thinks his reaction is because he’s seen her several times. Caber’s expression gets even stranger. He totally doesn’t get Renee’s praise of the princess’s beauty. She grabs Caber’s arm and bends him closer to her to whisper in his ear and tells him in fact she thought the princess is like a beautiful statue coming out of a torch. (confusing translation) Caber laughs. With Caber’s smiling face so close to her, Renee blushes furiously while her heart begins to thump. She turns away her face and Caber asks her what’s wrong. The problem is her heart. She loosens her hand on Caber’s arm and covers both of her cheeks with both hands. She turns away her face from Caber who is now looking at her more closely because of her reaction. It’s then she sees the CP looking at them. He probably saw it all. He tried to put on his usual smile but failed and his face hardened.
    • On the balcony, Caber and Renee are talking. He wants to leave but she wants to stay a little longer. He gives her his coat because it’s cold outside. She tries to warm him up and they almost kissed. Renee winced from the cold wind on her shoulder and Caber backed off and apologized thinking she didn’t want this. He claims maybe he’s drunk and excuses himself to get a glass of water. Renee immediately protests this but he was gone before she could catch him. Renee realizes that he didn’t drink any alcohol at all so what’s this development. She’s regretting that she flinched and shivered from the cold because she wanted to kiss. She ends up hitting her head against the wall but stopped after the pain. Instead she screamed and frowned when she remembered the moment. She thinks if he hadn’t left the balcony she might have grabbed him and done something. When she’s thinking about the missed opportunity again, she hit her head against the wall repeatedly. By time Caber returns and sees her red forehead, he asks her what’s wrong but she didn’t think she could tell the truth that she’s sorry she missed the kiss moment. She hit her head against the wall again and Caber stops her. He wants to know what’s going on and who came and disturbed her. Now she wants to go back home to the temple to repent for her desire. Even in the carriage she hit her head again. The next morning she woke up with a lump on her head.

In my opinion, it’s both. I think he’s the kind of person who doesn’t want to admit or doesn’t realize he has feelings for her. However, it’s quite clear that he has feelings for her throughout. I get the impression that he’s the kind of person who doesn’t take risks. The most he did was delay the imperial family going after her. He’s not like other princes who rebel against their emperor father. Nor does he have the strength to protect Renee against his family. This is why in the end he still lives the life he lives. He doesn’t risk anything so how could he gain anything except what he’s already been given? He watches a lot from the sidelines but never does anything despite all the things his family does to others. So, in a way, he’s a weak person in terms of conscience, strength and protection.

In any case, it doesn’t take long for Renee to fall for Caber anyway so perhaps it was better that the CP didn’t risk anything. Renee would have undoubtedly stifled under that family too because she’s different to them. In contrast, Caber does any and everything for Renee and she had a lot more independence. Remember Renee’s initial goal was to get rich and not work. lol She has to work at Gloria but at least it’s a private organization. Caber also supports her well.

    • Lily heals Renee’s forehead. She wants to know if Renee played a forehead flicking game at the party. Renee feels sheepish because she thinks she almost became a dangerous beast last night. She’s distracted by her amorous thoughts so she goes to Lucille library. There she meets Niyan’s brother Duan, who is Tyric’s brother-in-law. He’s a researcher there and he will become relevant in the upcoming arcs. Duan offers Renee some cookies. They’re the same ones that Caber gave her because she said that she was throwing a party at the temple for Lily’s end of exam. Turns out these cookies are expensive and hard to get. They sell out soon after the bakery opens. The cookies remind her of Caber and she remembers that the same day she received the cookies, she hugged him as soon as she saw him outside the temple. She throws her head on Duan’s desk. The poor guy hears a thump and wonders what’s happening. Renee deflects by telling him the cookies are so delicious.
    • Duan can read memories on items from a year ago or less. He’s a historian and researcher. He and Renee discusses Iiknur which will be the next campaign that Renee will participate in along with Lily and Caber. Ancient beasts are appearing there and the temple there is submerged in water sporadically. Duan and Renee also talk a lot about the Bemtecan temple. It’s the place where Renee and the CP will go back to an ancient era and they’ll live like a married couple because it’s dangerous for single women in that era. (Renee actually honors her love for Caber while apart. The bracelet he gave her protects her from assimilating to the era and keeps her memories in tact. She also insists to the CP that he not talk about it to anyone in the present time. She doesn’t want Caber to find out about living like a fake couple because she doesn’t want him to get any ideas beyond what actually happened. Caber never finds out about it)
    • When Renee finishes speaking to Duan, she meets Mahala, the head of Gloria, for the first time. She’s also a friend of the former saint. Mahala tells Renee she’s very interested in her. Mahala also tells Renee she looks young and naive. Heh. Mahala tells Renee she would like to praise her for not making up her mind for the imperial offer that the CP presented to her. She also warns her to act and think well. (Warning flags) Mahala stares at Renee for a while and then tells her she would like to have a cup of tea with her sometime. There was definitely something more about her words, as shown by the reactions of Mahala’s team, but Renee is still completely clueless or naive.
    • Renee has to go to Iiknur. This time the mission will be much more dangerous because ancient beasts can appear suddenly. Renee is scared as she reads about the ancient beasts. She starts to think again about defending herself. This brings up the CP’s offer to teach her. She thinks that she would like to learn from him but first she wants to talk to Caber. Turns out he’s visiting the temple right then. Renee goes to him. She laughing to see him. She thinks that sharing a very small moment with someone she likes makes her laugh. She feels like the muscles on her face are out of control.
    • Caber wants to take her to the lake in the capital because it’s a nice day. She’s wearing a worn out cape so he wants to take her to a boutique to purchase a new one. He buys a bunch of clothes in the boutique and sent them to the temple. She and her friends can choose what they like. Meanwhile, Renee observes the way people are behaving towards Caber. It’s like they’re running away from seeing someone scary. Caber notices her silence and asks her what’s wrong. She doesn’t know what to answer because she doesn’t know herself. She didn’t feel good because now she’s experienced how people treat Caber herself. Even through the carriage windows she sees people outside retreating to avoid the carriage. It’s natural to move out of the way of the carriage but she felt even darker when she sees their frightened faces and glimpses.
    • Renee began to realize why she felt unpleasant. She felt familiar yet unfamiliar with the fact that people were afraid of Caber. They were scared of him, avoided him and trembled at his appearance. She feels that’s exactly how she was. She notices that Caber seems quite familiar with such a response. It didn’t seem to matter to him. She feels upset. She wants to know why is he treated that way. She knows the rumors but he didn’t kill anyone here, he didn’t take out a knife so why are they scared. Yet, just a few months ago she was scared to death and now she’s in this illogical quibble. She feels she’s in a contradictory situation because she’s upset and worried that Caber might see others shirk him.
    • She looks at Caber with fresh eyes. He looks pale because he’s white. His black hair also contrasts with the white skin. His tired eyes are because of his insomnia. She thinks how everybody fears him because of the vicious rumors and how nobody cheered for him when they returned from the Vuos campaign. At the time she thought the situation was simply strange. The CP passes and there are loud cheers and then Caber passes and there are no cheers. The two accomplish the same victory but the reaction is wildly different.
    • Renee starts to wonder since when did she stop being afraid of Caber. Before she knows it, his face is close to hers because she unknowingly cupped his face while thinking about this question. Heh. She makes an excuse and thinks that ever since the first snow she’s always reaching for his cheeks. Caber doesn’t mind her action of cupping his face because it’s her hand. Renee thinks she wants to die in a good mood or from shame.
    • They arrive at the lake. Apparently people make wishes here. Renee notices that with their arrival, people are again sneaking away. She feels upset. She talks to Caber to distract his attention but Caber doesn’t seem to care about people’s reactions. Renee thinks maybe because he’s used to it but she feels bitter again. When they head for the bridge, it was crowded and then suddenly became empty. Renee keeps Caber engaged talking about the upcoming campaign location and tourist spot, Iiknur. Renee thinks the lake reminds her of the lake that Caber first showed her. He’s surprised that she remembers it and seems quite pleased. On their way back, Renee makes a wish to return safely from the Iiknur campaign. Caber laughs when he hears the wish because he keeps telling her to hide or runaway when the beasts appears.
    • This brings up the fact that Renee wants to learn to protect herself. She tells Caber all the things she’s been interested in from the Lucille institute (Duan and Niyan) and how she wants to learn from the CP. she asks him if that’s okay. Looking at his expression, Renee goes on to say that he will teach her most likely in Iiknur in the camp where everyone will be so they won’t be alone. In response, Caber nonchalantly tells her to do as she pleases. She’s so surprised that she immediately asks why. She wants to know why his reaction is like this. Caber calmly tells her that she doesn’t think learning is bad. She replies but the person teaching is the CP. Caber tells her that she seems to be more worried than he is. He continues that there is no one more capable than the CP in the application of divine power. Caber compliments the CP’s ability generously.
    • Renee feels a little embarrassed by her overreaction. The carriage ride home is quiet. Renee keep feeling uncomfortable even though Caber said it’s okay. She feels guilty that she complicated Caber’s feelings. She thinks that Caber is wary of the CP because of her ambiguous behavior but now he says it’s okay to take the CP’s class. They arrive at the temple and Renee doesn’t want to end their meeting like this. She feels regretful. She’s having mixed feelings about this whole CP class issue. She also had to thank Caber for the clothes he bought for them at the temple. Caber tells her to go in because it’s night and it’s cold. It starts to drizzle and she thinks maybe that’s why Caber was silent and pale in the carriage. Caber urges her to go in. She encourages him to come in and rest since it will rain and he has insomnia on rainy days. He immediately refuses. She impulsively puts her hand on the wall to block him. She invites him to sleep there for a few hours. He doesn’t answer but watches her and she’s blushing like crazy. She completely traps him between both arms and tells him she won’t do anything so please sleep over. He gives in and sleeps there for a few hours.
    • Lily passed the Gloria exam. Both her and Renee are ecstatic. Renee goes to Lucille institute to visit Niyan. It’s five days before they leave for Iiknur so unfortunately Niyan and everyone else are busy. Turns that the ancient beasts are more powerful than usual and they just found it. Usually the senses of the ancient beasts are dull except one but with these ones, their senses are all alert except sight. That means the number of people to be sent will increase to deal with this news. The research teams are also experimenting with different ways to respond to defeating these beasts. The labs are very busy so Renee thinks of going to the library downstairs. Before she opens her mouth to tell Niyan bye, the CP enters the room.
    • The CP asks Renee what is she doing here. She responds she came with Lily who is measuring her divine power to enter Gloria. The CP tells her she could have entered Gloria with her friend (the offer condition). Renee simply laughs it off. She senses something different in the CP’s behavior. He seems distant but perhaps it’s better this way. She brings up the topic of his offer to teach her. The CP said that was a while ago. Renee says if the offer is still available, can she ask him to teach her. He says he’s going to Iiknur soon. Renee says if he’s too busy to teach her there, then it can be after the Iiknur campaign.
    • Renee begins to wonder if by his reaction he changed his mind and if all her trouble over deciding this was in vain. The CP asks about her change of heart. He said she didn’t take his offer positively before. Renee realized then that she didn’t hide her vigilance at all back then. She responds that she thought about it for a long time. The CP just keeps looking at her. The guy suddenly tells her that she went to the lake outside the capital two days ago. Renee wonders why is he talking about something so out of the blue. The CP tells her that he heard they went to a boutique in the square. He asks if they bought clothes for winter. Renee wonders why is he bringing this up because he should be busier than anyone else. Renee wonders if so many rumors are spreading about she and Caber. Her mind then goes back to when she entrapped Caber between her arms and she starts to get hot and fan herself. Heh. (Her mind sure likes to think about those moments)
    • The CP tells her that the duke won’t like it. Renee promptly tells him she already told the duke because she doesn’t want to be misunderstood. Therefore she thought it was only right to tell the duke. Furthermore, she’s really only just learning. Her sole purpose is to gather information. Renee realizes the CP looks stiff and kept his mouth shut. She realized that she saw this same expression when she blushed furiously at Caber during Lucia’s party. Since a strange silence ensued, Renee tells him that if he changed his mind that’s okay. She shouldn’t have asked when he’s so busy. The guy keeps looking at her with a stiff face. Suddenly a deafening explosion rang through the lab. Part of the wall falls and the CP hugs Renee’s head to protect her from falling debris. He hugs her to his chest and Renee is dazed by the blast. As soon as she realizes she’s close to the CP, she draws back. All of a sudden the guy is smiling incredibly bright and tells her that he will teach her with all his heart.

    • The campaign in Iiknur begins. Since Lily is part of Gloria now, her work with the group is different so Renee is on her own. No problem though because she sticks to the Nikyll knights. She begins her lessons with the CP while they’re at the base camp. However, during the day Renee is usually with Cavert’s group when they do searches. They’re trying to discover the reason why ancient beasts are appearing in Iiknur and why the temple is submerged in water every few days. An early search has Renee with Cavert, Tiraq and another Nikyll knight. They were swarmed with beasts and Renee had to watch Cavert slaughter nearly ten of them because Tiraq and the other knight were also fighting beasts. Due to this, Renee understands just how skilled Cavert is though she was afraid for him at several points during the attacks. The ancient beasts are like mutant beasts so they are very gross and have tentacles, numerous eyes, acidic blood, etc. Anyway, it’s like Renee falls a little more for Cavert. She thinks he’s cool so when their eyes meet casually, her heart races.
    • After they finish eliminating the beasts in that section of the temple, they meet up with the other half of the search group, who were also attacked on the other side of the temple, and they head back to the base camp. On the way they take a break and Renee goes into an abandoned shopping mall. She’s admiring the tourist items and Cavert accompanies her. They’re looking at charms and jewels. This prompts her to remember that while Cavert was fighting the beasts, she saw a bracelet on his wrist. She looks at it now and inquires about it since she’s never seen it before. Cavert’s reaction is strange and mysterious. He tells her it has a protection spell on it so he wears it when he fights beasts. It’s a bracelet with black plates and amethyst jewels. It turns out that it’s an heirloom of his house. Renee thinks it looks luxurious and mystical. Cavert seems awkward about it so Renee thinks he’s hiding something so she doesn’t want to pry. In response Cavert accidentally lets it slip that he’ll give it to her later. Renee wants to know why he’ll give it to her. Cavert is embarrass and hesitant. He finally admits it’s for the duchess and he doesn’t want to pressure her. Renee impulsively says why does he think she would feel pressured. Renee laments in her thoughts that Cavert hesitates and thinks that anything concerning his wishes towards her might be a burden to her. It’s the same way he acted on the first snow day and when he invited her as his partner to the princess’s party. It seems like Renee tells Cavert that she really likes him. Her voice is shaking and her fingers are trembling on Cavert’s arm. They’re caught in a sweet moment and he holds the back of her head and he bows his face closer to her. Renee feels dizzy in the moment. The tip of their nose touch, their breath are mixed though there’s a short gap and just as they’re about to kiss, Tiraq interrupts. lol
    • Renee is embarrassed by the situation and her face gets a little stiff. Cavert must have interpreted her expression to mean he crossed the line so he apologizes and leaves to check the item Tiraq said they found. Renee wonders if Cavert interpreted her expression strangely again or did he apologize for the situation instead. Renee hits her head against the wall again asking why. They head back to base camp with the item they found which is covered in ancient writing but doesn’t look old. They’re not sure if it’s important so they’ll give it Mahala who will probably use Duan’s expertise. Meanwhile, Renee is absorbed in thoughts about the failed kiss. She hit her head several times so she used divine power to heal it hoping that no one realizes. She feels regret and anger over the failed moment. She wonders why does she feel sorry and why does she feel angry. What would she do if Cavert hadn’t left the store.
    • After they reported their search findings at the base camp, Renee meets Lily later that night. They talk about their different experiences on the search party that day. Lily was with the Holy Knights. Throughout the conversation Renee is hitting her head against the railing. Lily wants to know what’s up with her. lol Was she cursed by an ancient beast? Renee is too ashamed to tell her as she hold her hot cheeks in both hands. Renee even feels like crying because she’s in such agony. Lily suspects this is about Cavert. Renee feels that she and Cavert aren’t making any progress. He keeps hesitating because he thinks she’s scared. After admitting this to Lily, she feels miserable. She begins to talk to Lily about her problems. Lily tells Renee to make the first move since Cavert thinks she’s scared. Renee is shocked by her suggestion so Lily tells her then don’t do it then.
    • Lily says just a few months ago Renee was really scared of Cavert and how did she end up like this. Renee feels ashamed and shuts up. Lily retires to sleep shortly afterwards and Renee stays a while sitting on the steps of the building until she went to take a late bath. She spends a long time washing up with cold water and also washed her hair. When she came out it was pretty late. She figures most of the priests she share the tent with are already asleep and decided to take a walk around the base camp instead. It’s a beautiful night but she eventually finds herself still agonizing over the failed kiss attempt that day so she starts to recite scriptures. Before she realizes it, she’s actually outside Cavert’s tent where he’s sitting by a bonfire.
    • In her mind Renee is arguing with herself about whether she came there thoughtlessly or intentionally. Still, she didn’t expect him to be outside so late at night. Cavert is also surprised by her appearance there. Nevertheless, Cavert comes to her, realizes her hair is damp and takes off his cloak and puts it on her. She asks why isn’t he asleep yet and he turns back the question on her. They both say they can’t sleep and instead sit down on the tree in front of the bonfire. Impulsively, Renee leans her head against his shoulder. She quickly says sorry thinking that her hair is wet and it’s the setting that drove her to rest her head on his shoulder because it’s a beautiful night and they’re sitting in front of a bonfire. She took her head from his shoulder but Cavert assures her it’s okay and rests her head on his shoulder. Some awkwardness inspired by this new closeness ensues but then they start talking about the reports that day with the Holy Knights. They realize the situation in Iiknur has grown more serious. They also talk about the silver tablet that their search team found. It seems Duan is researching it to determine if it’s important because they have yet to find out what is causing this strange phenomenon of ancient beasts and flooding of the temple. Renee says out loud, ‘then it was a good discovery’ (the silver tablet). This makes her realize that it sounded like she was unhappy with the discovery before because it interrupted their kiss. Still, the potential usefulness of the tablet doesn’t mean that she’s completely free of complaints. (She really wants a kiss it seems)
    • Renee thinks maybe Cavert is also thinking that the tablet interrupted their kiss and begins to get anxious and nervous. She feels like her inner feelings have been revealed so she tries to cover herself by saying that if they hadn’t gone to the lake, they would have never found the tablet. Cavert doesn’t say anything so she gets even more nervous. She notices he’s no longer wearing the bracelet and inquires about it. Renee immediately feels like she’s just made the awkward situation worse. Eventually Cavert gets up and tells her it’s late. Their search tomorrow will be with Gloria so she needs to go rest. He helps Renee up from her seat on the tree but Renee is sad to leave now. She thinks that he’s too quick to let her go. She thinks they were talking peacefully in front of the bonfire, she was leaning on his shoulder for the first time and looking up at the starry sky and suddenly it ends like this? Renee looks up at him to say goodbye and then she suddenly grabs his collar, lifted her heels and kissed him on his lips. Just a peck. She’s swept away by the feelings and kisses him again. She kisses him a third time and just as she’s about to open her eyes, Cavert cups her cheek and next thing she knows a slippery heat penetrates between her open lips making her dizzy. In an instant her tongue is entangled and her breath is mixed. As if he’s been suppressing his impatience, it’s like his emotions exploded and he can’t endure them any longer. Her head leans back and the heat inside her mouth is mixed up. An indescribable hot heat penetrates everywhere. Even the breathing is rough. She feels like her legs will give out. With a barely exhaled breath, Cavert takes off his lips very slightly. Renee’s mind is going haywire and she’s out of breath.
    • Renee wonders since when has Cavert been holding it in. He was holding it in like a man holding back his excitement even at this moment. He chased her lips again and again and again. The answer was mixed in the lips that were so filled with desire that it gave her goosebumps beyond the sweet point. His lips were so tenacious that she almost couldn’t breathe. Her legs were so weak that they couldn’t stand and she felt dizzy. She felt like her body was melting with overwhelming emotions. Hardly breathing, Cavert closed his eyes again like a man holding on to his patience. He hugged her soothingly and leaned her head against his chest. She thinks he’s also trying to calm himself down. He’s hugging her breathing heavily like a man trying to calm down his excitement. Renee closes her eyes tightly and leans against his chest. Her mind is dizzy, her cheeks are burning and her heart feels like it will burst. She’s embarrassed that she started it but it turned out to be more than she thought. The fact that Cavert has endured it was heartbreaking. She wraps her arms around his neck and either she or Cavert asks to kiss one more time.
    • Next day Duan responds that the silver tablet is used in a ritual for “time” worship. It was done in ancient times by the priests of Elnur. Therefore, Renee has to be their guinea pig since Lily says she’s now with Gloria. Before hundreds of people, Mahala makes Renee touch the tablet, lift it, do all sorts of actions to see if anything would happen. Renee is extremely embarrassed to be showcased like this and feels upset after a half hour of following Mahala’s instructions. Cavert tells her she’s worked hard at the end of it so she finally cheers up.
    • The two sets of knights plus Gloria are going on a mission to search the temple for the first time. That means that Lily is also in the group with Renee for the first time. She teases Renee about her attitude the previous day and asks if she worked it out with Cavert. Renee immediately covers Lily’s mouth because Cavert is in the group as well. This prompts her to remember the hot kiss and her cheeks are blazing red. That’s how she reacts whenever she remembers the night before because even earlier that morning the Abner priests whom she share a tent with asked her if she had a fever. Renee constantly replays the kiss inside her head and thinks she needs an exorcism. Heh.
    • Renee is talking to one of the Holy Knights she knew from the Vuos campaign. He’s explaining about the temple and its rituals. The place has ruins so there are steep climbs and cracked roads, etc. She’s hears the commotion of ancient beasts appearing because Tiraq could be heard screaming. lol He has a strong aversion to the beasts. However, one moment she sees stragglers in her group near her, as she carefully climbs and the next moment she’s alone. Why? She’s in the past but she doesn’t realize it. She meets a priest who is looking for the silver tablet. She tells the priest that they have it and she’ll bring it to her but she needs to know the way out so that she can find her group. Renee is fretting and embarrassed because she feels that the team must be looking for her and she’s lost. The priest gives her a necklace and Renee puts it on. When the priest points to the right direction, she suddenly sees her team and is very embarrassed. The first person who notices her is the CP. Renee thinks he looks very worried and anxious. She wonders if it’s because he’s the team leader and she wasted their time since they had to look for her. She apologizes and says the road was rough so she fell completely behind. She notices his face hardens. The anxiety that was on his face is completely supplanted by hard emotions. She looks at him wondering and then she realize that Cavert was approaching her from behind.
    • Renee goes to Cavert who asks her if she’s hurt. She knows he’s worried and probably feels responsible for her disappearance. She assures him she didn’t encounter any beasts and she’s fine. She even shows him her limbs so verify that she’s fine. Renee goes to Mahala and tells her about the priest who wants back the silver tablet. Mahala tells her there are no priests in this temple. Renee reaches for the necklace that she had put on her neck and there’s nothing there. Renee is truly confused and Tiraq screams because he thinks she saw a ghost. lol Renee is wondering if she dropped the necklace but she had put it around her neck. She describes the necklace and repeats a phrase that the priest said.
‘The foolish men realize the time and enlighten the reason, and they are afraid of the darkness but welcome the light.’
    • Mahala looks increasingly serious after Renee states this saying. She checks to see if there’s a curse on Renee but there’s none. At the camp, they contacted Duan. He was discussing the temple and tablet with archeologists and here comes Renee telling him about a saying that the priest mentioned to her. Duan thinks that it’s like the past is recreating itself in Iiknur. The ancient beasts, ancient tablet and now ancient priests. He unfortunately tells Renee that she will have to carry out the ritual of returning the tablet since she’s the only Elnur priest there. Renee is upset. She doesn’t like the situation at all. When the meeting is over, she approaches Cavert and leans her head on his chest just like she would if it’s a wall. She only did this because everyone else had already left the conference room and now she can finally behave in a personal way with Cavert. The CP must have forgotten something because he returns and enters the room and picks up the communicator he claims to have left behind and leaves. Renee feels shy because somebody caught them. She was going to pull away now that they’re alone again but Cavert hugged her.
    • The two start talking about her experience. Is it a dream or clue? Renee complains to him and he listens to her and tries to placate her. She buries her head in his chest and asks him if she should really move the silver plate in the ritual. She’s obviously scared about it and has mixed feelings. She notices Cavert has the bracelet on again. All of a sudden her mood changes as she thinks that although she will face hardships in the future, she’ll have him by her side. She close her eyes and bury her head in his chest. She thinks it’s a peaceful moment.
    • She spent more time with Cavert in the conference room and then came out for dinner. After dinner she has her third class with the CP so she goes to his barracks. She was embarrassed about being caught by him earlier but puts on a calm air. She reflects on what she’s been learning so far from him and how she intends to use her knowledge. Today Renee speculates that the CP must not be feeling well. He seems distracted and his responses are delayed. Since he’s doing her a favor, she thought she didn’t have a right to complain but instead waited for him patiently. When he meets her eyes he quickly stiffens and looks away. Eventually Renee tells him he looks tired and they could stop for today. Since he doesn’t respond, Renee wonders if he’s disappointed in her progress or if he’s really feeling sick. Renee decides either way, she’s leaving and thanks him for teaching her today.
    • Clumsy Renee accidentally butts her knee to the desk, a dagger falls towards the hot brazier and she foolishly reaches to grab it and it almost cuts her wrist but the CP saves her. The dagger is burning in the fire and she was about to thank the CP for saving her but instead he angrily yells at her for doing something dangerous. Renee is embarrassed by his scolding. She apologizes to him. She looks at the burning dagger and feels bad. However, that’s not the end of it because the angry CP brings up what happened that day when she was lost in the temple. (Honestly, her going missing doesn’t read like it’s her fault. She suddenly slipped into the past while trying to climb a steep ruin and people were near her at the time). Renee feels it’s unfair but she thought that since he’s the commander of their group, she caused them trouble so she apologized again. The CP asks her if she thinks it’s right to walk slowly when the frequency of beasts appearances has increased. He berates her and tells her that she was talking to a Holy Knight at the time and she should have caught him. Renee said it would have been a nuisance to him. The angry CP says it was a nuisance for everyone to search for her.
    • Renee suddenly becomes speechless with his behavior. She understands that it’s her fault even though they got an important clue to their mission but she did her best to climb in the ruins with an uneven road all while fearing the appearance of an ancient beast. She feels resentful and depressed about the CP’s angry scolding. All she says though is that she’s sorry. She pressed her emotions down and bowed her head and apologized. He says something to Renee that translates weirdly but whatever it is, Renee’s attitude change abruptly. She thinks she should humbly accept and reflect on herself because she was criticized for what she did wrong but she grew increasingly embarrassed by his continued words. From the context it seems like it has something to do with Cavert. I’m not sure if he insinuated something about her behavior with Cavert because she became dumbfounded and asked him in a stiff voice what he’s trying to say. The CP shuts his mouth as if he was embarrassed for a moment and stared at her with a stiff face that she has seen more frequently lately.
    • Renee feels the unfairness. She pulls her wrist from his hand. She says she came out of the temple and told the chief everything. He was there so he listened too. She thought her report was over. After all, how many times must she tell the event over and over again. The CP asks her what about the duke. Renee of course talked with the duke about her experience and complaints. She admits she spoke to him some more after the conference was over. She asks the CP what is he trying to point out. Renee feels a little embarrassed by the conversation because she realized from the point of view of the general commander, he could think that she was dating during a conquest. However, it was only after she finished the job that she approached Cavert and she’s being criticized for it. (So, although the dialogue of the conversation is somewhat confusing, it seems the CP is taking issue with her and Cavert even though they truly only hugged after the conference finished and nobody else was in the room)
    • The CP, with a shocked face and smile, tells Renee that it’s as if she really likes Lord Williard. Renee wonders what‘s with his petulant attitude. However, more than that, she wonders what the hell does he want to take issue with. The CP starts to wonder, almost like talking to himself, if she wasn’t afraid of Cavert before. With a darkened face and in a low voice, he asks her if she wasn’t afraid of him and stayed away from him. Renee wants to know why would he ask her that and why is he acting like this. She doesn’t know what’s going on in his head but she suddenly thought she should say it neatly. She calmly responded that yes, she was afraid of the duke. Her emphasis on “past tense” seem to crack over the CP’s calm expression. He looked at her with a strange expression but she accepted his gaze and told him she isn’t afraid of the duke anymore. She knows that it was a long time ago. She decided to give a name to the feelings she experienced on the day of the first snow and the countless moments afterwards. She plainly tells the CP, she likes Cavert.
    • Renee, Mahala, Cavert and the CP have a conference call with Duan. Duan advises that the silver tablet needs to be placed in a certain area of the temple but he and the scholars can’t decide whether it should be at dawn or sunset when the sunlight hits the tablet. Cavert says that they need to get it right and don’t be careless because it’s not them (Duan and the scholars) participating in the ritual. Duan gets scared. Renee thinks that Duan looks a bit more scared than he normally looks in front of Mahala. The guy even whispers to Renee that he thinks he’ll die if anything happens to her. lol Meanwhile, all four of them in the room can hear him so Renee kinds of change the subject. Duan promises he will look into the issue more and get back to them. With the meeting over, the three leaders talk about the search, etc. Renee waits around for Cavert and when he joins her and they are just about to leave, Mahala asks to speak with her.
    • Renee feels nervous because it’s the first time she’s having a conversation with Mahala alone. Mahala takes her to the hallway of the fourth floor of the building. They’re looking out the windows at the rain and base camp below. All of a sudden Mahala asks Renee if she likes rainy days. Renee responds that she doesn’t hate rainy days. Mahala says the leader of the Nikyll Knights hates rainy days dearly. Renee smiles awkwardly. She thinks Mahala probably knows the rumors that on rainy days blood flows at the duke’s manor. Mahala asks Renee if she uses her divine power on the captain of the Nikyll Knights every rainy day. She tells Mahala that Cavert usually can’t sleep well but on rainy days his insomnia gets worse. She usually use her divine power and puts him to sleep.
    • Mahala then changes the subject and asks Renee why does she go to the CP’s barracks. Renee hopes Mahala isn’t misunderstanding her so she quickly explain that she just goes there for lessons. She’s interested in using divine power offensively. It’s supposedly a secret that the CP can use divine power for offense and a bit of healing so Renee tries to keep that secret although Mahala already figured that out because she saw him trying to heal himself after dealing with beasts. Suddenly Renee realizes that here is the perfect person who use magic as well as divine power. She’s all excited now and her eyes are shining and Mahala is tickled that Renee seem to be overflowing with questions about the topic of self defense and offensive power. Renee thinks Mahala is a genius that she can learn from. Renee thinks Mahala was the one who came up with Shield and Blessings. Mahala confesses that she wasn’t the one. It’s the former saint who came up with them.
    • Renee knows the famous story that Mahala and Cecilia, the former saint, were close childhood friends. The former saint died shortly after receiving the title of Saint (must be bad luck because Renee almost died after receiving it too). Renee thinks this is the first time she’s ever seen Mahala look so at peace as she’s thinking about past memories. The flashback is short lived as Mahala then looks at Renee quietly. Renee thinks Mahala looks regretful. She asks Mahala if she looks like the former saint. Mahala says not at all. Renee says that’s a relief because she doesn’t want to cause Mahala pain. Mahala seems to be struggling. It’s like Renee doesn’t look like the former saint but she still thinks that Renee’s fate might become like the former saint. Renee is of course oblivious but knows that Mahala is thinking worriedly about the both of them. Mahala brings up the topic of the two proposals of Saint and Gloria. Mahala pointedly asks Renee if she thinks the decision is her choice. Renee asks, “What?” Mahala gives a low laugh and sneers. She grabs Renee’s shoulders and tells her to come to her the moment she’s infinitely helpless. Mahala emphasizes to Renee that her enemy’s eyes are so bright under the dark sky. She tells Renee she cannot be her loss. She will not remind her of her distress. She tells Renee she won’t let it go. (She’s talking about the imperial family)
    • It’s raining in Iiknur and the group is worried because fighting ancient beasts on a rainy day is something everyone wants to avoid. Therefore there won’t be any searches until the rain stops. Instead they will focus on the shield to protect the base camp. Renee heads to Cavert’s barracks because she’s certain he can’t sleep. She takes some food with her because he didn’t have dinner. When she gets there she finds out he took several sleeping pills on an empty stomach so she complains about it. She tells him he should have called her. He responds that she must be tired so he didn’t want to call her. Renee thinks the most tired person is worrying over her being tired. She thinks Cavert is high on the drugs and lectures him for a while. She puts him to bed and applies divine power as they talk about Mahala. Renee wonders in her thoughts what did Mahala mean by her words. Cavert tells Renee that Mahala also can’t sleep on a rainy day. Apparently Mahala used to like rainy days until the former saint died 30 years ago on a rainy day. Renee thinks that for Cavert it’s the same though it’s three years ago for him.
    • Renee asks Cavert if his insomnia started three years ago. He says that he didn’t sleep much in the past. He mostly slept 3 or 4 hours and 6 hours if it’s a lot. He often lived like that in the middle of an assignment/war. Renee wonders how many years has he been living like this. She thinks it can eventually affect his health. She thinks of Cavert and Mahala who are stuck in painful memories of the past and she impulsively asks him if he’s still stuck in the memory of three years ago. Cavert is calm and then he raises himself and leans his head on her shoulder. He admits to her that he’s still stuck in that memory. He’ll suffer every rainy day repeatedly. He says maybe he will never be free from that day but now he has her by his side in this moment so it’s okay now. She raises her hand and hugs his neck. She hugs him tighter as he says because she’s there with him. It rained for four days and Renee visited Cavert every night to put him to sleep.
    • Mahala orders Renee to stay at the base camp until they hear from Duan. That means she won’t join any search teams. They’re also worried because when the temple becomes submerged in water, more ancient beasts normally appear. Duan finally contacts Mahala and Renee about the ritual ceremony to give back the silver tablet. Renee thought she can get a way out of it since she didn’t have the right priestly robes but Duan sent some to Iiknur. Mahala and Renee practice the ritual but Renee is afraid that ancient beasts will pop out while she’s walking alone for 20 minutes outside and then another 30 minutes inside the temple. The knights can only follow her at a distance. Renee suggests that the knights search the temple just before the ritual and then Mahala thinks that maybe it’s better to have a knight stay in the temple before the ritual. The ritual will be carried out the next day. While they talk, the alarm artifacts in various temples go off like crazy. Mahala rushes out and the knights assemble. They are sending out almost all the knights and mercenaries to destroy the beasts at all the temples. The knights left behind will protect the base camp. Cavert orders Tiraq to stay and command the small remaining troop of about 40 people. Renee is seriously worried about Cavert but Tiraq reassures her. She has watched Cavert fight some of the more powerful beasts before but they’re really scary and big so she can’t help but worry. It’s also night time. After Tiraq keeps reassuring her repeatedly, she decides to stay a little comfortable.
    • Lily and the other apprentices are relieved to stay back at the base camp. It’s supposedly the safest place because of the shield. Renee talks to her for a bit until Mahala comes to get her. Mahala wants to know if the priest she saw at the time in the past said anything about the ancient beasts. Renee says no. Mahala thinks time is mixed up and furthermore, she’s afraid a certain beast will appear. Suddenly there’s an alarming noise in the distance and then below in the base camp. Both ladies rush out. A beast is threatening the camp. A mercenary dies in the attack as Mahala directs the knights to kill the beast before it destroys the shield. Renee is worried about Tiraq because he’s always noisy when he fights the beasts. She goes to look for him and he’s sitting down terrified and traumatized as three beasts stand before him. Renee calls to him to snap him out of his fear. She practically drags him away, protecting him with her body but not protecting herself. She hears Mahala cursing as she comes to rescue them and attacks the beasts. Tiraq comes to his senses and just as Mahala turn her back to the beasts thinking that it’s safe since she’s in the shield, Renee yells and then sees a black purple force that strikes the beast. Cavert and his knights have returned to the chaotic base. Renee is healing Tiraq with divine power and they’re talking about saving each other’s life. Tariq thanks her for saving his life just now. Cavert hears the conversation and demands to know what happened. Yikes. Tiraq tells the truth and Renee wonders how can he be so self-destructive. Mahala, who is probably pissed, also spills the beans about Tiraq and walks away. Cavert is clearly upset because Tiraq is a knight and his second commander too. Cavert actually grabs Tiraq by his collar and tosses Tiraq. Renee wants to know how could Cavert toss Tiraq, who is a large person, so lightly. Well, he tossed him to the barracks and ordered him not to come out. Renee thinks in a way Cavert is being considerate to Tiraq who is traumatized by the beasts.
    • Renee follows Cavert happily even though she admits that in this hectic situation they can’t relax. He tells her to stay with Gloria while he and Mahala leaves to deal with a very powerful beast. Renee begs him not to get hurt and he pats her gently before leaving. Renee looks around the chaotic camp. The most important thing is to keep up the shield. Mahala has advised her to stay in the building but Renee reasoned that if the shield breaks she won’t be safe in the building anyway. Suddenly, a winged beast is heard on the way. The biggest threat was the beast that Cavert and Mahala left to take care of but the sudden appearance of this winged beast is dangerous to the shield. Indeed after a few moments, the winged beast smashed the shield. Everything happens so quickly. They move to evacuate the injured and Gloria and some invaluable items that they couldn’t afford to lose. The barracks are being destroyed and the ground is shaking. Renee supports Lily then Tiraq joins them and support Lily. Tiraq stays to fight the beasts as the girls rush away. Next Renee sees the barracks will collapse on them and pushes Lily out of the way. She braces for the calamity but feels nothing. Turns out the CP holds up the collapsing barrack and tells her that as he said before, she’s not alert.
    • The CP seemed slightly relieved to see that she’s fine and then he frowns and tells her that she should keep in mind that she’s the most important thing to the mission right now (ritual ceremony). Renee hears cheering now that the Holy Knights have arrived. There’s golden energy spread throughout the camp. Renee is glad that she was able to save Lily but she thinks that it was very scary to have the barracks fall on her so she’s grateful to the CP for saving her but she was livid at his words. Renee simply thanks him though she’s annoyed inside.
    • A new enormous beast almost like a dinosaur appears. It’s spewing fire from above as well. Everything is a total mess. The enormous beast is spitting fireballs even though it’s far away and the boxes of supplies in the camp catches fire. Renee finds that they are surrounded by flames. She sees the CP take out his sword and uses his energy. She’s never seen his fight before but since he’s the head of the Holy Knights, she expects that he’ll be able to take care of the situation. Other knights had already run back to the camp because the huge beast was kicking them out of the way. Not to mention the enormous beast also brought numerous smaller beasts with it. The CP deals with the enormous beast and sporadically the winged beast as he protects Renee. Renee thinks she’s hindering him because he has to worry about protecting her. Tiraq shows up a bit later to save Renee who had no way out. The problem is, they’re blocked by the beasts in front and flames behind. Eventually the enormous beast injures the CP’s right arm after the CP injured the beast good and proper. Therefore, he’s seriously impaired as he’s also hit by an acidic attack. Renee heals him. She thinks of their dangerous situation where neither Tariq nor the CP can finish the job and then she sees Mahala’s magic and something flying in the night sky. Turns out Cavert is on the winged beast and jumps down on the enormous beast killing it instantaneously with his black sword by cracking its hard shell.
    • Renee finds the moment so shocking that she whispers his name and it’s like he heard it as their eyes meet. She looks at him standing high above the enormous beast and thinks he looks more marvelous and brilliant than ever. The people in the camp are cheering and she simply looks at him for a long time.

    • In the aftermath of the base camp attack, many people were injured and the site ruined. Renee and other priests had to focus on healing injuries since Gloria had exhausted their energy on giving blessings and supporting the shield. Blessing is like a protection to strengthen the mind and body. They were given to the two leaders of the knights and other elite knights while they were fighting. Mahala is upset with Renee for exposing herself to danger but allows her to continue her efforts to heal the injured. She finally asks Renee to go heal the CP who was trying to heal his injured arm by himself.
    • Renee goes to the CP’s barracks. As soon as she appears the CP asks her in a hard voice, why is she coming into his tent. Renee thinks that she came here because she was asked to and why is he picking a fight with her. Renee immediately turned her head to the side, almost screaming, because she was so surprised to see him half naked. She seems distracted by his bare body and tells herself she’s a healer, she only came to heal. (She’s so shallow at times lol) She tells herself to calm down and tells the CP in a calm voice that he can’t heal his injury by himself. His arm was in a terrible condition now that she sees it. His arm was drooping and blood occasionally burst out from the area. She thinks his arm might be broken. However, she notices that his expression towards her looks hateful and tells him so. She thinks even though their conversation a few days ago wasn’t positive (the one where he interrogated her about Cavert), they were together just an hour ago. But then she thinks that when she tried to heal his eye an hour ago, he tried to block her hand. She thinks the guy is strangely stupid. The CP once again refused her service to heal him. He said he can handle it. Renee sarcastically tells him that he sure did a good job healing himself and she wants to applaud him.
    • Renee treats him with her divine power and then wants to bandage his arm but he blocks her again and says that she shouldn’t use so much divine power. He will treat his arm and if it doesn’t work, he’ll ask another priest. Renee tells him all the other priests are busy and the average priest can’t heal such an injury. She tells him that she knows he has a problem with her but she has to prioritize her work. Long story short, Renee treats him. The CP tells Renee he has issue to talk about. He said he already knew she would play an important role in this mission. He then starts talking about the Saint title. He also think that it was too early to declare her a saint and Renee agreed. Renee thinks that compared to other saints, she really haven’t achieved anything to deserve the title. In fact, if she wasn’t with the two sets of elite knights but instead she was with ordinary knights, she’s sure that she wouldn’t even be considered for the title. Therefore, she agrees that it was a hasty decision and figured that the imperial family just wanted to use her as a symbol. The CP says they looked into the history book and there’s a connection to Renee. He doesn’t tell Renee what it is though. He says that instead, they wanted to bring her out of Elnur and to do that, they thought of putting her under Gloria. Renee wonders why is he telling her all this. He’s talking objectively too and it gives the whole conversation a strange feeling.
    • As usual, he goes back to her statement in Vuos where she said she doesn’t mind that he’s using her as his means for the end he wants to achieve. Renee vaguely remembers the conversation and thinks that back then she thought it was a win-win situation because she got to happily admire his handsome face and he gets to use her divine power. She now wonders if his previous offer to cheat was part of his means to a certain end too. The CP tells her that he will rise to the highest position and it would be perfect if the saint was with him on the road. Renee thinks that it’s like the CP is trying to remind himself of his purpose. His voice is shaky as he repeats “his means”. Renee thinks his eyes looks confused then he touches her cheek with a trembling hand and she feels a sensation as he heals a shallow wound on her cheek. Renee wonders why the CP still has his hand on her cheek since the wound is already healed.
    • Renee has to go through with the ceremony tomorrow. Mahala thinks they shouldn’t delay it because she feels that might be the reason the ancient beasts appeared. Everybody has gone to sleep because it was an exhausting day but Renee can’t fall asleep. Furthermore, the CP’s behavior had her in a profound mood. She wonders why has he kept picking a fight with her since some time ago. And he’s always going back to the “means to an end” conversation that they had back in Vuos. Cavert interrupts her thoughts. He looks very tired because he’s been fighting beasts and he just finished a meeting with Mahala. He’s also volunteered to be her escort tomorrow in the forefront. He will go before her to make sure the temple is safe. Originally the CP was supposed to do it but he’s injured. They talk about Mahala and Renee thinks of the saint. Renee wants to know what is the connection between herself and coven and what is the imperial family hiding. (I think she’s referring to the history book that the CP mentioned).
    • Cavert encourages her to go to bed. He will even give her sleeping pills if she can’t sleep. (Remember she took some in Vuos). She tells him it’s just that she has a lot on her mind. They hug and she rests her head on his chest. She thinks it’s becoming a habit for them. She asks Cavert if the temple won’t collapse when she put down the silver tablet, right? lol She’s glad he’s escorting her. She’s actually relieved. She has a vague belief that he would be able to get rid of any beast that appears. She trusts him but she’s afraid of the unexpected. Although she survived the attack on the base camp today, she’s still shocked by what she saw. While Renee is worrying about various unexpected scenarios, Cavert assures her that he won’t let anything happen to her. She looks at him and realized that he truly meant it. He tells her that when he heard that she was almost beaten by a beast, he couldn’t breathe. He won’t let her get hurt. He gave her a sincere pledge like a knight and kiss the back of her hand. This sets Renee’s heart on fire and starts a fever. Renee thinks it’s not just a feeling of excitement but also the feeling of being filled with trust. She calls him a knight and tells him she looks forward to his kind cooperation. She’s suddenly feeling good and begins to smile.
    • Renee notices Cavert seem to be agonizing over something. He has a mysterious look on his face. He says he’s told her before that there’s protective magic on the bracelet. He raised his arm and she sees the bracelet. Renee remembers he told her that the bracelet will automatically activate in an emergency. Cavert says he didn’t expect to say this now as he takes her hand carefully. He looks down at her and hesitates but Renee reads his intentions. She knows that the bracelet should belong to the duchess and the fact that it’s coming to her.... Cavert tells her the bracelet will protect her and after this mission is resolved, let them go back to the capital and get engaged. Renee immediately screams and covers his mouth. She does this because she’s superstitious. She realizes Cavert can take her reaction in a negative light so she tries to explain herself. After getting over his shock from her reaction, he puts the bracelet on her wrist and she admires it on her wrist. She thinks she was surprised by the word “engagement” because she hadn’t thought that far. She thinks a grand title of Duchess seemed unrealistic so she probably didn’t dare to think of it in more details. But to think that Cavert was already drawing that future. She feels a little shy, embarrassed and like her heart will explode.
    • Renee tells Cavert, yes, let them to do it. That is, get engaged when they go back to the capital. The two seem to find the situation unbelievable as they gaze at each other with trembling eyes that turns to joy. Cavert hugs Renee tightly and then laughs. Renee thinks it’s an impulsive decision because she’s never thought about it properly before but she doesn’t regret agreeing to get engaged. She thought maybe she wouldn’t have heard about engagement for a long time if the bracelet didn’t have a protective spell. Renee looks at the bracelet and realizes it has ancient words inscribed on it. The language looks familiar because it’s similar to the ancient language Duan showed her over the communication device when they discussed the temple situation. She asks Cavert what is the meaning of the words. Cavert seem to hesitate but when Renee holds his arm he replies in a shaky voice,
“Let me belong entirely with you at that time”
    • The air is emotionally charged between them after he repeats the words inscribed on the bracelet. Renee thinks the base camp is quiet but it’s never been so noisy inside her head and heart. She’s received this bracelet and heard its meaning. Her heart is thumping as she meets Cavert’s eyes. The setting is described and Cavert bows his head to kiss her. Their lips touch softly and overlap sweetly and carefully as if dealing with something so precious. Her hands tremble for a moment with the heat of his lips spreading and the sheer emotion. She winds her arms around his neck. Cavert at first was careful but then he starts to kiss her like a man whose patience has been cut off. He kisses her very deeply as if he’s stimulated by something. In that moment, Renee feels as though her body is melting thickly.

    • So Renee successfully performed the ritual ceremony. Mahala decides to wait five days to see if putting back the silver plate made a difference in the situation. Indeed the ancient beasts stop coming out. However, they couldn’t be certain if all of the problems were simply because of the silver tablet that didn’t belong in the present time. Mahala decides that 80% of the team should now go to search the Bemtecan temple. It’s a huge temple that is usually submerged in water every month or so since the phenomenon started. It’s big enough to contain a village.
    • Renee, as usual, goes with Cavert and the Nikyll Knights. However, at some point two roads in the temple meet into one and the Holy Knights meet up with them. Renee is excited about the temple so while thinking Cavert or anyone of the Nikyll Knights were behind her, she asks if it’s true that this temple is an underwater temple. When she looks back, it’s the CP. She curses to herself when she realizes it’s him. She thinks she’s walking in front of someone who told her she is annoying a few days ago. She looks and sees that Mahala had stopped Cavert and was pointing down a hall while talking to him. That’s why the Nikyll Knights stopped too. The capricious CP starts to tell Renee about the temple and their bathing rituals. Renee is surprised that the CP is still continuing to talk to her because she had turned her head away from him when he first answered the question about the temple. Nevertheless, since he’s willing to talk as a guide, she responded positively to him.
    • The CP tells her a lot of history about the temple and their rituals. Their worship of the god of time. Also, the way they treated wounds, etc. Renee thinks that the awkwardness between them has diminished slightly due to the conversation but it feels like they have been at odds since coming to Iiknur or even before that. After the conversation ends, Renee doesn’t feel the need to say more so she turn her eyes forward again. Instead she decides to wait for the Nikyll Knights. As usual, her “damsel in distress” mode kicks in and she almost falls and CP tries to help her. This prompts a bitter silence between them. Renee wants to wait for the Nikyll Knights but the current place where she’s standing isn’t a good place to wait because it’s narrow so she goes further with the Holy Knights.
    • Renee is admiring the temple area where they are now. She understands the tourist attraction. The CP suddenly shouts for his knights to shut up because he hears a sound. Renee sees a blue reflection in the ceiling. She puts her hand on her priest robes and pulls out the blue necklace that the priest from the past had given her. The CP approaches her. The necklace is buzzing with a blue light. The CP realizes this is the necklace that Renee told them about before. However, without any time to think, a loud noise fills the room and water like a tidal wave enters in a flash. It poured into the window. Renee feels the necklace is dragging her down and she keeps going under the water. The CP rescues her after they struggled a while and then they end up in the past.
    • Renee wakes up coughing and they’re on dry land but still in the temple. She actually thinks they’re in the right time period so she’s thinking about whether the others got out of the temple safely and if Cavert had to rescue Tiraq because Tiraq said he’s not good at swimming. She laughs out loud when she thinks of this. She notices the CP keeps looking at her strangely and it’s not until she properly takes in their surroundings that she suddenly asks where they are. The CP says he doesn’t know where they are. She observes the difference in the look of the temple and that they might be in Bemtecan era.
    • Renee sees that the blue necklace now looks blue, green and gold. She wants to take off the necklace and throw it away because she thinks it’s the root of all evil. The necklace had tried to sink her in the water. The CP asks her what is she doing with the necklace. The CP tries to help her but the necklace won’t come off. Renee thinks that the others might have fallen into the era and wants to go look for them. She thinks of Cavert but really thinks she wants to find Mahala first because she’d be able to find out something about the situation.
    • Once the two gets out into the main part of the temple, Renee becomes the center of attention. Before she realizes it, she’s dragged away by women to a house where they try to force her to undress and wear a belly dancer’s outfit. It seems that all unmarried women are dancers in temple rituals in that era. Renee is crying and protesting until the CP comes and finds her. To resolve the situation, the CP tells the persistent women that Renee is his wife. Renee’s eyes convey her disapproval and the CP feels it’s unfair because it’s the only thing that could rescue her. Sure enough the women leave her alone and they leave the house in a hurry. Outside they meet some priests who inquire where they are from. The CP names a faraway country in ancient times. The priests are a bit wary but asks if there’s anyone who would volunteer to put up the strangers until their ship is ready to leave. A family of three volunteers. The little child in particular is excited to meet them. The two go with the mother and son and have tea at their house until the dance ritual is over in the temple.
    • Later, the two walk around the temple looking to find the other team members. They can’t find any of them. Renee begins to realize this is reality but refuse to stop walking and searching until the CP tells her they need to stop. They return to the family’s house and Renee is out of humor. The family gives them the second floor to stay. It’s just a big open room. The family stays on the first floor. Renee is upset and criticizes the CP about his calm attitude. She realizes she’s being unfair to him but she can’t deal with the reality that they’re in ancient times. The CP brings her a bowl of soup with potatoes and meat and encourages her to eat. She eventually apologizes to him because she realize that his response to the situation is more rational. He quietly observes and tries to figure out their situation while she expends energy getting frustrated and alarmed.
    • The CP begins to tell her about a ritual that the temple will have a week later to the god of time. Renee gets very excited when the CP says the ritual involves the silver tablet and that maybe they will figure out something on that day. Again she apologizes to him since he was gathering this valuable information. She’s in a better mood now and goes to thank their hosts for the food. She goes back upstairs and sits looking at the engagement bracelet. She thinks the bracelet didn’t protect her from the flooding in the temple and assumes that the protective charm doesn’t work. She turns the bracelet several times on her wrist and laughs. She wonders about Cavert’s current situation. She holds the bracelet tightly as she looks up in the night sky. The CP comes to tell her that warm water is ready and he sees her holding the bracelet on her hand and raise his eyes to her face. Renee thinks he has a mysterious look in his eyes. (That’s because he knows what the bracelet means)
    • The next day Renee is annoyed when she wakes up still in ancient times. She actually hoped everything was a bad dream. The lady, Salome, offers to take them outside to learn about the place. However, they need to dress in ancient clothing. When asked, Renee chooses her outfit and uses a string that signifies she’s married. After getting dressed, she joins the little kid and then the CP comes out in ancient attire. Renee screams out loud because some parts of his skin and muscles can be seen and she finds him very handsome and fit. She unconsciously looks down at her bracelet because she couldn’t meet his eyes. She thinks that she missed Cavert last night but if she goes back today she will have to repent in front of him.
    • The family, Renee and the CP goes to the temple. Lots of people are waiting for many hours to be healed. Renee knows the method used, water, doesn’t actually work. Since they’re from the future they know the medical treatment given is useless. Renee wants to heal the people and the CP argues that they shouldn’t stand out. They have a heated exchange to the point that the bystanders think the married couple is arguing and they become the center of attention. They make up by the CP smiling and hugging Renee’s shoulders. He eventually agrees to help Renee but she tells her not to reveal her divine power.
    • Renee offers to help the healing priests while the CP looks on warily. She succeeds by adding a bit of her sacred power to the water to help heal others. She spends hours helping out and becomes friendly with the priests and helpers. The topic of conversation is usually Renee and the CP who are seen as a married couple. Renee thinks that while she’s gotten used to his handsome face, sometimes she just can’t help but admire his face because it looks like a statue. The priests and helpers are of course unaccustomed to seeing someone like him so they admire his beauty along with her. The topic of conversation eventually changes to an epidemic. Apparently people will be coming to get healed. They also say the king and nobles aren’t coming outside their homes because they fear the epidemic.
    • Although the CP is still reluctant about Renee healing at the temple, he has to admit they get good information there. They talk about the epidemic and the CP keeps warning Renee not to stand out. She tells him she gets it. At the family home she helps to make dinner and then sits down with the family to eat. They tell Renee and the CP that the CP is talked about a lot. Renee gaze meaningly at the CP to convey that he’s the one who stands out and not her. Renee also thinks that it’s like the CP is assimilating to the past. At times it’s like he’s becoming his role. When Renee gets ready for bed, she thinks it’s kind of awkward to stay on the second floor with the CP. However, she sleeps near the window and he sleeps near the stairs in the big room. When she gets upstairs, she sees the CP with a communication device. She immediately accuses him of hiding it from her. He says it doesn’t work. He apologizes for not telling her but Renee knows that she’s in the wrong. She thinks that they’re always at odds. To break the awkwardness, the CP starts to talk to her about her progress in divine power for use as self defense. It works to resolve the discord between them.
    • Renee continue to take classes from the CP at night after returning from working in the temple. Even though she’s tired, she keeps herself busy to prevent gloomy thoughts because at times she thinks she will never be able to return. The closer it comes to the time when the ritual takes place, the more she feels despair that it might not work out that they can return. Meanwhile, it’s like the CP is really assimilating to becoming her husband. He’s always smiling at her and treating her like a wife. At one point at breakfast he reaches out to her to brush something off her lip and she slaps his hand away. He was surprised by her behavior but she was also surprised by his behavior. On the way to the temple the CP apologizes to Renee and then things become awkward between them again until they reach the temple and he had to protect her against some knights escorting an important priest. This time Renee let it slide that he’s hugging her shoulders like a couple.
    • It’s about five days or so since Renee came to the past. Since she thinks she’s leaving in two days, she goes out early on the fifth day to work hard. It starts raining at some point during the day and the work finished early. Renee is in low spirits because the rain reminds her of Cavert whom she has been thinking about every day since she arrived in the past. At dinner, although the food tastes good, she can only bring herself to eat half of it. She retires early to sleep but just kept tossing and turning. She gets up to go to the terrace where she sits down fiddling with the bracelet as she’s holding in her tears. She misses Cavert a lot. She wonders if it’s raining there too but knows she’s thousands of years in the past. Then she starts to get overwhelmed with thoughts that he won’t be able to sleep. She wishes that time stopped there to prevent him from worrying about her. She’s fussing in her mind about her friends helping Cavert. She reflects that since it started raining she’s been walking on a tightrope of emotion and she felt like crying. She utters his name and thinks that it’s the first time she’s called his name out loud. She admits she misses him to the point where she really wants to cry.
    • While Renee and the CP are in the past, those left behind at the basecamp are dealing with ancient beasts. It’s been five days there too. On the day of the incident, the water came into the temple and then drained again quite quickly. After the panic, Mahala and Cavert found out that Renee and the CP are missing. Cavert refused to leave the temple until he searched it even when Mahala at first wanted them to leave just in case the water comes back in. By sunset they couldn’t find the missing two so they returned to base camp and contacted Duan who is stunned by the news. Duan promises to look into the situation. Over the days ancient beasts start to come out again and Cavert who is calmer than anyone else, on the outside, practically butchers the animals instead of just killing them. All his knights know exactly what’s going on and acts accordingly. Even Mahala looks at him and can’t really tell him anything because he’s calm on the outside but clearly a mess on the inside. He hasn’t slept for days and refuses to take the sleeping pills since Renee complained about it last time. He thinks that he was at first bothered that Renee disappeared with the CP but grew relieved that the CP could at least protect her. In that way his anxiety is a little less.
    • In the ancient era, the day finally arrives for the ritual. Renee is hoping that she’ll be able to return to the future today. Tears come to her eyes on the morning of their potential return. It’s a beautiful day so no rain prevented the ritual. Renee thinks that she had promised herself not to get her hopes up but her commitment to that way of thinking disappeared. Renee is chatting with the lady of the house cheerfully. The CP comes down and Renee thinks that he’s acting more oddly as the days go by. He acts like a husband and it makes her uncomfortable. She thinks that she might go back today and she’ll run straight to Cavert and tell him about everything that happened there.
    • At the ritual, the king and nobles attends. The dancers perform and Renee observes the event. When the priests begin the pray, Renee prays sincerely to please return to her original time. After praying she looks at her bracelet and remember the words engraved inside. ‘Let me belong with you at this time’ She touches the bracelet several times and ponders the meaning. When the ceremony outside finishes, Renee and the CP follow the priest with a crowd and then suddenly people start to collapse around them throwing up blood. Someone falls into Renee’s arms and she heals the person with divine power. Another person sees a white flash and shouts and points to her. The CP rushes to protect her and evacuate her from the place. They go to the family’s house and start arguing. Renee wants to heal people and the CP thinks it’s a bad idea. He asks her if she’s willing to take responsibility for the outcome? She’s arguing that she can’t see people dying in front of her and not do anything. The mother comes home interrupting their heated argument. She’s sick with the disease too and before Renee can do anything, soldiers come to drag the mother away to quarantine. Renee basically confronts the soldiers and things are getting noisy and then a priest shows up to get Renee. The king wants to see her and the CP goes along as her husband. They are given a change of clothes to meet the king. Renee thinks that while it’s unpleasant to continue acting as a married couple with the CP, she’s grateful now that they did otherwise she would have to face the king alone.
    • The king wants Renee to stay in the palace probably because he heard that people were healed from her helping out the priests in the days prior. Renee thinks the king is selfish and doesn’t want to comply with his request/order. The CP resolves the situation and while he’s at it, he gets the king to tell them where they quarantine the citizens. Now Renee will be able to help the mother who they stayed with during their time there. In the bedroom that the king provided, Renee apologizes to the CP for missing their chance to go back and also thanks him for protecting her during the commotion at the house they stayed at. In her thoughts Renee wonders why the CP is still acting like she’s his wife. She feels uncomfortable with his behavior. He even touches her cheek and tells her that her safety is the most important thing to her. Later that night Renee waits until the CP is asleep to use divine power on his head because she thinks something is wrong with him.
    • Renee sneaks out of the palace the next day to return to the family’s home and then the temple. She meets the priest that gave her the necklace before at the temple. Unfortunately, the palace guards finds her at the temple and she’s escorted back to the palace. At the palace she meets the priest who caused the epidemic. He accosts her asking her to heal him and Renee realizes that he was hiding his illness and therefore infected others. He reveals to the king that Renee has a mysterious power. This leads to Renee getting permission from the king to enter the quarantine place where her host family was sent. The CP is, of course, against Renee using her power because of the consequences. Renee does as she pleases and starts to heal the mother and child from her host family. She creates another miracle like Vuos but bigger since she has more control over channeling divine power. As a result, anybody in the area was healed for hours as white light pours from the sky like rain. Before, the place was desolate and now even plants begin to grow there. Renee faints after pouring out that much power and spends the next day recovering. Many people deify her and she’s embarrassed about how powerful the effects of her divine power became. Now that she’s solved the epidemic, she thinks this is the answer to the phenomenon in Iiknur because her miracle also leads to the downfall of the priest who increased the spread of the pandemic and the priest who had given her the necklace became the high priest. Now that particular priest is wearing the new high priest robe, she realizes that she was the person she met before when she slipped back in time previously.
    • Renee is ready to return to the original time. The ritual will take place in two days so she’s relaxing and doing sightseeing so that she can tell Cavert about the places she saw. She hasn’t seen him for about more than a week now and she feels like crying. As Renee walks with the CP, she realizes that now she has the time to focus on his strange behavior. More and more he’s treating her like his wife. She thinks of finding the answer by talking to the high priest and the CP accompanies her to the palace. Outside the palace a jeweler calls out to Renee complimenting her bracelet. He asks to see it. She raises her hand to show him. He reads the inscription inside and enlightens her. He asks her who gave her the bracelet. He tells her that someone out of their original time will assimilate to a new time otherwise the mind would be in a bubble. He says some sentimental things and Renee realizes that the bracelet actually protected her and helped her to keep her original time otherwise she would have probably assimilated too like she suspects is happening with the CP. Hearing this, that the bracelet protected her, she actually breaks down crying. The CP hugs her shoulders to comfort her.
    • Renee meets the high priest and the priest asks her to take part in the ritual ceremony. Renee thinks she only has to follow the procession but on the day of the ritual, the priest asks her to place the silver tablet in the ceremony. She didn’t want to agree at first but then thought maybe that’s her way back to the original time. Before the ritual starts, she has to stay in a room to meditate. The CP is there too. Renee tells him that finally they can return. The CP looks unhappy. He tells Renee he doesn’t like it because when they go back she’s not by his side. Renee thinks that she would have shoot back at his words but this time she finds it curious. He’s been treating her as his wife but why does he remember the original time if he’s assimilated to the ancient era? Renee simply tells him she’s sorry to hear he doesn’t want to go back.
    • Renee performs the silver tablet ritual but nothing happened. Then the blue necklace she was wearing all this time glows. The priest points this out to her and then Renee thinks that she needs to give it back to the priest. Before the priest takes it, Renee reaches out her hand to the CP recognizing that he was swept into the past trying to save her and she should return the favor. He grabs her hand smiling as though she’s his wife. A wind starts to blow when the priest touches the necklace and then Renee and the CP ends up in the original time at sunset. Renee’s memory and consciousness are in tact. On the other hand, the CP seem dazed until his eyes become clear. She doesn’t know what he’s thinking when they make eye contact but out of consideration for him, Renee looks away. Renee thinks the necklace is still with her and permeated into her hand. She doesn’t know if it’s an illusion though. She tells the CP that she’s going back to the base camp.
    • Suddenly Renee hears her name from the front of the building. The moment she sees the purple eyes, she runs to Cavert immediately. Facing him with pure joy and trembling hands, they hug each other. The voices of other people could be heard. Mahala sees Renee and walks to the CP. Tiraq welcomes back Renee but Renee buries her head in Cavert’s arms and laughs. She’s finally back to the time where she completely belongs to someone.
    • Ten days passed in the current timeline just like it did in the past era. Renee is glad to reunite with Cavert but it’s too much of a situation to be cuddling with him. It was a serious matter for both her and the CP to have disappeared. Only Renee gives a report on the past because the CP was still in a blur. Mahala said she’ll question the CP after hearing Renee’s report but Renee slyly discourages it. She’ll give the report and she does it for three to four hours. Duan also sees Renee and tells her he’s happy to see her since he was sure he would end up dead. Renee thinks that people seem to be more pleased with her return than the CP’s. It’s probably because of the people who missed her. Renee notices that Cavert just keeps looking at her as though he’s confirming that she won’t disappear. When she finished her report, Mahala offered her a special room to rest in but she refused. Instead she wants to head directly to Cavert’s barracks to put him to sleep. She feels like he will collapse soon.
    • Renee realizes when she gets to Cavert’s barracks that he didn’t take any sleeping pills. While she’s scolding him about not sleeping, she breaks down in tears and tells him that she missed him. Renee hugs Cavert’s neck crying and tells him she really, really missed him a lot. He replies that it’s the same for him. Cavert tells her, where she disappeared to, whether she is safe, whether she’s alive, whether she can come back, whether he can find her...are all questions that haunted him. Renee says of course she would come back. She thinks that they shouldn’t suffer from such meaningless questions anymore. She thought of such questions too every night and she would hold on to the bracelet that shine so beautifully in the moonlight and swallow her tears. The two continue to share with each other and console each other. Then they were lying in bed together on the narrow bed but it didn’t matter because she was wrapped in Cavert’s arms. She missed him every night and she doesn’t want to be away from him another night. At first Cavert was stiff but then he began to relax as she used her divine power on him. Renee acknowledges to herself that she’s the one who wanted to see Cavert longer. She thinks that perhaps because they were apart, her feelings for him has grown stronger. She tells him many things about her time in the past except about playing a married couple with the CP. Renee also tells Cavert about the bracelet and how it protected her from assimilating to the time in the past. She shudders to think of what would have happened if she wasn’t wearing the bracelet to protect her. Eventually, Cavert fell asleep first with Renee in his arms. Renee says to herself that it’s good to be with Cavert at this time of the year. (I think she’s paraphrasing the words engraved on the bracelet). It was a sweet sleep that Renee hadn’t had in a long time.
    • The next morning Renee wakes up just before dawn. She thinks she slept in bed with Cavert yesterday because she was possessed by the joy of meeting him again. She admits that she’s done something crazy but rebutted that it was a good decision. She’s relieved that it wasn’t a dream that she was back and she feels good because Cavert’s face is so handsome. She watches Cavert sleep and is glad because he was desperately in need of sleep. He’s sleeping like he fainted. She wants to get out of his barracks before other people wake up because it would be embarrassing and annoying. She quietly leaves and meets Lily who burst into tears when she sees her. After Lily calms down, they talk about what happened over the past few days. Renee believes that since she healed the people in the epidemic, the phenomenon in Iiknur stopped. Even the silver tablet that was in the present time disappeared. The appearance of the ancient beasts also ceased. Lily leaves to get ready for breakfast and Renee decides to go back to Cavert’s barracks to eat breakfast with him. He’s awake and looking pale. He’s obviously looking for her since she wasn’t there when he woke up. Renee understands right away and runs to him and hugs him. She asks him if he was scared and he willingly admitted it. In response, she hugs him tightly. She likes that he’s only afraid because of her. She promises him that she’s here from now on and always.
    • Renee realizes belatedly that people passing by are staring at them but with happy faces. She assumes it’s because she’s returned and now the Nikyll Knights can live more peacefully since their commander is in a better mood. She eats breakfast with Cavert and Tiraq, who complains about Cavert’s eating habits while she was gone. Afterwards she and Mahala takes a walk together and she shyly admits to Mahala that she missed her. She’s gotten to know Mahala lately so she’s grown fond of her. Mahala wants to talk about Renee’s decision to heal the people of the past with her divine power. Apparently the CP revealed it when Mahala interviewed him. Consequently, Mahala wants to know Renee’s answer to the question about what if things got out of control after she decided to heal the people. She’s not trying to reproach Renee but she’s curious about what Renee thinks. Renee says she didn’t want to regret not healing a dying person right in front of her eyes. Mahala thinks Renee and the former saint, Cecelia, are similar in this way. Mahala thinks that Renee’s sacred power has grown and maybe she can use it for shields and blessings. She also came to the same conclusion as Renee that by Renee healing the people of the past in the epidemic, the phenomenon ended in Iiknur. They feel that perhaps the god of time brought someone from the future to help them.
    • Since Mahala thinks Renee has talent, Renee jokes with her and asks her if she’s trying to sell her on joining Gloria. Renee remembers that it’s been two months since she didn’t answer the proposal that the CP presented to her to become a saint and enter Gloria. Renee is cautious because she doesn’t know what’s hidden behind the proposal. She knows she has to give the CP an answer soon but she hasn’t really thought about it at all. She finds the offer of saint burdensome. She also doesn’t want to leave the temple of Elnur. Mahala asks Renee if she made up her mind yet. Renee responds with jumbled thoughts because she doesn’t want to upset Mahala since Gloria is part of the deal. However, Mahala looked at her in silence and pity. Mahala warns her that she’ll be busy when she returns to the capital and until then, she had better take a break. Mahala’s eyes looks behind Renee who hears someone approaching. It’s the CP, who according to Renee, is so beautiful that even if God poured years of care into it, he could not fail. He tells Mahala that Duan is trying to get in touch with her.
    • Renee asks the CP how he’s feeling because he said he wasn’t well yesterday after they returned. The CP says he’s doing better and thanks her for her concern. She thinks he’s avoiding her gaze but it didn’t matter because she didn’t want to talk to him for long. However, she asked him if he remembers the past. He says he doesn’t remember everything but he recalls some of it. Renee thanks him for protecting her while in the past era. She thinks that she decided to let it slide that the CP acted like she was his wife since it wasn’t his will and was caused by assimilation. She also feels that she’s lost her weakness because she never wants it to be found out that they acted as a couple. She wants to keep him quiet.
    • After lunch, Renee takes Cavert to the temple to show him the place where she stayed with the family and other places. Cavert asks her if she’s sad and she admits that she isn’t sad because where she went was thousands of years ago. She also tells him that she thinks it would have been okay if it was him who went with her. She thinks that perhaps she would have been more comfortable. She feels like she might not have hated it if they had to act like a couple. She feels that the CP’s acting as her husband was rather gruesome and funny but it got worse as time went on. However, if it was Cavert, she would have stopped herself from trying to cure him for acting as her husband. With the CP, she tried to cure him with divine power to the head. Renee then thinks that she’s going to get married to Cavert but it seems so simple. She recalls they said they’ll get engaged when they return to the capital. Thinking of it makes a hot fever rise on her cheek and she starts fanning herself. Cavert doesn’t have a clue what she’s thinking and touches her forehead while asking if she’s sick. He thinks it’s because she moved through time and encourages her to get some rest.
    • It’s time to return to the capital but the group does one more search to check that everything is fine. Renee goes too but this time Cavert is holding her hand. Both are thinking of the time the water flooded the temple and she disappeared. After the group confirmed with their eyes that all is well, the CP announces the completion of the mission. The group returns to the capital. As usual, Renee praises princess Lucia as a goddess in her thoughts. She’s happy that the princess came to see them. Renee returns to the temple of Elnur.
    • Duan wants to see Renee at the Lucille Institute so she visits him. He announces to her right away that she will become a saint. She feels burdened by his zeal. She asks him what is he talking about. It turns out that Renee’s actions in the past era of curing the epidemic are recorded in a very old history book. Renee also recalled that the CP also mentioned this previously so he knew she would be connected to the past and that’s why he proposed to his imperial family to make her a saint. This is what appears in the book:
A stranger who came to Bemtecan by the grace of the god of time (Tekan) saved the time of chaos.

The book also says: “The servant of Elnur and the Knight of Light who protects him were together.”
    • Renee thinks that this must be why the CP acted so calm when they disappeared. He already knew about this. She thinks it started from the miracle in Vuos. The CP paid attention after that and then proposed to make her a saint because he thought she might be related to Bemtecan. Renee still believes that her deeds do not justify a saint title because other saints have done as much. Duan believes that the imperial family cannot accept a powerful priest in Elnur. After all, the imperial family is united with Abner, the state religion, so they can’t afford to let Elnur grow. Duan assumes a hard attitude when saying this and Renee is surprised. She feels that his attitude also reminds her of Mahala. Renee doesn’t understand the significance of going back in time as it relates to the imperial family. Duan explains that the neighboring kingdom, Belzata claims Iiknur as its territory but the empire refutes that claim. Now that she and the CP went back in time, showing that they are connected to Bemtecan history, the empire now has a valid claim that Iiknur as their territory.
    • Duan asks Renee if she will accept the offer of saint. She stutters over an answer and she interprets Duan’s expression to mean that whether she refuses or not, her future has already been decided. He tells her that the conclusion of his story is that the imperial family will not give up on her.
    • Duan’s warning leaves Renee feeling uncomfortable. She realizes that the empire wants to use her as a symbol for their legitimacy. She wants to talk to Cavert about this matter so she takes a carriage to his house. When she gets there, she finds out that he’s taking a nap and tries to dissuade the butler from waking him but Cavert had already ordered the butler that Renee is priority. While the butler is taking Renee up the stairs, Cavert appears in black, comfortable sleeping clothes. It’s clearly apparent that he just woke up but Renee is having a heart attack because of his muscles and abs. She thinks that she’s unintentionally seen men’s upper bodies quite a few times in the ancient era but she’s never seen his. She doesn’t know where to look but can’t help looking as she stutters that she must have woken him up. Meanwhile, Cavert is simply happy to see her. She feels that he woke up and came in a daze to see her. Cavert tells her that she’s here so of course he should get up. Renee encourages him to go back to sleep as he gently caresses her cheek with a sleepy touch. She reflects that it has become a habit of his to stroke her cheek and caress her hair. Her body trembles reflexively when he touches her cheek. She thinks that before she would have settled down but now she can’t. It must mean that they’ve gotten closer since they went to Iiknur. She feels nervous so she’s chatting nonsense. She doesn’t want to look down at his body as much as possible so she fixes her gaze on his face. She talks incoherently to him and Cavert asks her to sleep together, right in front of the butler, who drops the papers he was holding.
    • Renee’s face is burning red. It was a heat worse than the warmth of Cavert’s hand on her cheek. She realizes that Cavert probably means sleeping together like they did in his barracks. Cavert confirms that’s what he meant. Renee thinks her face is on the verge of exploding and she’s ready to faint as Cavert looks at her mysteriously with her heated cheeks. She couldn’t look at his face any longer and lowered her eyes, only to actually scream out loud when she sees his abs through his robe. Only then Cavert realizes that his robe is open. Renee thinks he took sleeping pills so he was still in a daze. She tells Cavert that she has something to do at the temple so she’s heading back and she leaves the mansion quickly although her quick steps did stagger once in the middle. As she goes, she thinks that the imperial family needs to immediately withdraw the title of saint they offered her.
    • Arriving at the temple, Renee immediately goes to the prayer room. The head priest and Lily praises her devotion. This reminds her that she can’t in good conscience accept the title of saint. She finds it burdensome. Later, Renee talks with Lily about Gloria. Lily needs to get the final acceptance letter. She passed the exam and she apprenticed with Gloria in the Iiknur campaign but she needs to final acceptance. She can’t do blessings yet but neither can the other apprentices. Lily encourages Renee to enter Gloria. Now that Renee has met Mahala, admittedly, she’s become more interested in Gloria.
    • Princess Lucia shows up at the temple of Elnur. Renee is as usual praising her beauty in her thoughts (and thinking all kinds of nonsense as if beautiful people, by her standards, don’t have feet of clay too). She’s actually wondering if the princess only eats morning dew. (roll eyes with all the fawning) The princess starts talking about Renee going to stay in the imperial palace. They will provide a palace for her. She asks Renee if she won’t accept the offer. She points out that when she accepts the offer then she can come out of this old temple. She tells Renee that her brother (CP) asked to give Renee time to decide so she waited until the end of the Iiknur campaign. She says it’s time to hear Renee’s answer. The princess laughs but Renee thinks she felt a strange incompatibility with her. The princess says that she heard Renee saw the Bemtecan empire and it’s amazing news and it’s something that’s going to make the empire more brilliant. Renee realized that the princess’s attitude confirms that the imperial family knew that she would go to the past. The princess tells her that precious people should be honored. Renee asks if that’s why she has to go to the imperial city, enter Gloria and become a saint. The princess says that she’s the saint of the empire. As someone who saw Bemtecan, she can’t stay in such a small temple. Renee thinks that although she hasn’t had a clear antipathy for the imperial family, she’s wary of them because of their clear intention to make her belong to them. The princess tells Renee that she hasn’t yet realized how much influence she (Renee) can exert. She tells Renee the founding festival is coming up and they want to present her as a saint. She says that along with her brother, the CP, they will announce that Renee has seen Bemtecan. It’s the first time that the saint and the emperor’s light and hero, the knight of the holy father, will appear and that’s news to the international community. There the saint will make an oath to Gloria and the imperial city. The princess is kind of softly threatening Renee and tells her that her brother (CP) was supposed to hear her answer on his way back from the Iiknur campaign but didn’t hear an answer. She tells Renee her brother is very kind to her, oddly enough. The princess tells Renee that it’s time to hear her answer.
    • Renee asks what if she refuses to enter Gloria. Renee thinks that the princess’s tone was very sweet but somehow it feels like a threat. That’s what she also thought when the CP offered it. Renee thinks she wants to talk to Cavert about this because Cavert had expressed anger previously about her belonging to the imperial city. Moreover, there’s a subtle tension between the imperial family and the aristocracy among the nobles. (Cavert is the head of the aristocracy). The princess says that it’s a good offer. The imperial city will respect her (LOL) and Gloria will see her as a talent.

    • Even without consulting Cavert, Renee thinks she doesn’t want to go to the imperial city. Renee asks the princess for more time. The princess agrees and reminds her that it’s way pass the original deadline. While Renee walks the princess out, she suddenly tells Renee that Duke Williard made the greatest contribution to the Iiknur campaign. Although Renee and the CP did something special, says the princess, the duke dealt with most of the ancient beasts. Renee is very elated by the news. Renee notices that the princess looks strangely at the smile on her face. She then tells Renee to make a wise choice. She said personally she like Renee very much. Shortly after, the princess leaves.
    • The priests at the temple are all falling all over themselves because the princess visited. Renee discusses the offer with the high priest for the first time. The man is overjoyed for her and thinks it’s an honor for her to belong to the imperial city that symbolizes light. Renee thinks that Lily reacted the same way. As the times are, she understands their reaction but it wasn’t always the case that people supported the emperor. It seems loyalty to him has grown even more since the peacefulness. Although wars occur more frequently than in previous times, it was more luxurious because there was an empire hero, the CP. The ever-increasing territories and capital made the empire richer.
    • Renee also didn’t like that they held up the CP as the sole hero. Cavert was nicknamed the battlefield spirit and all the imperial people are afraid of him but praise only the CP even though the two have similar achievements. She feels a sense of alienation from the monarchy. She feels like they’re brainwashing every where and she wonders if she’s the only one in the empire who’s impure.
    • Renee decides to visit Duan before dark. She knows he’s a member of the imperial city but he doesn’t seem unconditionally loyal to them and doesn’t blindly praise them. Duan had told her before in a hard voice that he wouldn’t wait to see the power of the imperial city grow. Unfortunately, however, when she arrives at the lab she was told by Niyan that Duan was out of the office. Niyan talks to Renee about magic and sacred power but the talk eventually leads to talk of the imperial city’s unparalleled power. Niyan seems to be excited that Renee will become a saint but Renee tells her that she hasn’t accepted the offer yet. Niyan tells Renee there would be a threat from Belzata if she becomes a saint but not to worry because the mighty empire will protect her. In her thoughts, Renee becomes even more adamant that she doesn’t want to accept the offer.
    • Renee tells Niyan that they offered her to stay at a mansion paid for by the imperial city or stay in a palace set aside for the saint. They talk about restrictions on behavior to keep the dignity of the saint. It may mean she will mainly interact with the priests of Abner and the high priest. Renee makes a slightly disgusted face and Niyan laughs. Suddenly Niyan says, come to think of it, the saint usually marries the emperor. She says to date, every saint has been married into the imperial family. Renee thinks then this will be the first time that a saint doesn’t marry the emperor. Niyan then starts to talk about how Tiraq (her husband) suffered under Cavert. She can’t believe that Cavert likes someone because he never seemed interested in people. Renee agrees. Niyan starts teaching her some more about magic afterwards.
    • Renee leaves the Lucille Institute and heads to Nikyll Knights building to see Cavert. When she gets there, she starts feeling the after effects of a magic experiment that Niyan conducted. It makes her incredibly drowsy and heavy with sleep. Her vision starts to blur and Tiraq sees her holding on to a pillar. Cavert sees her, realizes that something’s wrong and runs to her just in time to catch her before she falls into deep sleep. When she wakes up, it’s dark. Cavert is in the room working by the dim light of a candle. Apparently, while Renee was asleep, Cavert found out the reason why she fell asleep. They contacted Duan and Niyan was with him so she was able to tell them why Renee fell asleep so abruptly. The aftereffects affected Renee severely because she doesn’t have mana. Cavert is upset because she could have fainted on the street. Fortunately, the effects kicked in when she arrived at the Nikyll building. Renee wants to know where they are and Cavert tells her in a bedroom next to his office. Tiraq insisted he build the room when Cavert built a new Nikyll building in order to move out of the imperial city fortress. Renee thinks that no matter how she thinks about it, Tiraq might have made a big contribution to Cavert’s life up until now. lol
    • Cavert apologizes to Renee for unintentionally showing her his half naked body last time since she ran away. He thought that’s why she didn’t come to see him since that time. Renee is in agony to forget the image and begins memorizing scriptures. Her weird behavior prompts Cavert to come near and ask if she has a headache (Aftereffect of magic) but Renee naughtily thinks she’s suffering from another kind of aftereffects (his body). It’s snowing outside so they talk about the weather and then Cavert invites Renee to the northern duchy, La Debus. (That’s where his comatose father resides) He’s going there for four days. It’s a wealthy duchy. The duchy was conferred to the Williard family by the emperor long ago and then mana stone was discovered there so scholars often call La Debus, the imperial mistake. lol Therefore, the imperial city levies a high tax rate on the duchy but even after that the duchy still earns a lot of money. However, mysteriously, three years ago the high tax rate was reduced.
    • Renee tells Cavert that she has to visit a new temple that Elnur is building in four days so she can’t go to La Debus with him. Cavert says it’s okay and he would like to build a temple of Elnur in La Debus eventually. Renee asks him if he could just build it like that. He says he’s Lord so he can. Renee discuss the difficulties of getting priests for there, etc. After discussing that issue, she happily tells Cavert that he made the biggest contribution in the Iiknur campaign. He says why. After all, she was the one who solved the issue. Renee tells him the princess delivered the news. Instantly, Cavert’s expression hardened with coldness. This prompts Renee to remember that Cavert did not respond very positively to the princess at her birthday party.
    • Renee tells Cavert about the princess’s visit and her words related to the saint offer. She also tells him about what Duan said. Cavert agrees with Duan’s conclusion that the imperial family won’t leave her alone. He tells Renee that they have always adjusted everything to their advantage. He reveals to Renee that Kervian Williard loved the princess. Renee is shocked. She knows some of the story about the brothers. The first wife and then Cavert’s mother died. There was never any apparent discord between the brothers until the incident happened three years ago. Then rumors startEd to say that the brothers didn’t get along from the start. Cavert tells Renee his story and reveals that he doesn’t know what kind of conversation Kervian had with the imperial family but they offered Kervian something in order to get accepted by them. After that, Kervian tried to kill him.
    • Renee is understandably shocked by this revelation. Renee now understands the magnitude of his insomnia. His family and brother tried to kill him. Cavert tells her that the imperial family knows very well how to use someone who will benefit them. Cavert admits that on its face there is nothing bad about the offer. However, they don’t like him so they might have called her to the imperial city on purpose.
    • Renee thinks that before she would have thought that the imperial family is trying to take hold of her to check Cavert’s growing power but after hearing that they used his brother to try to kill him, she doesn’t feel good about it. She reflects on how the imperial family kept preventing Cavert from succeeding the duke title with flimsy excuses. She recognizes that it’s because they used the time to increase their power. Renee understands that with her standing beside Cavert, his power would increase so the imperial tyrants are trying to use her in this way too.
    • Cavert tells Renee that maybe if she refuses the offer, they will still try to make her a saint. Renee is immediately reminded of Mahala’s warning about whether the offer is a choice. Renee thinks she can’t take this offer. She thinks about the Cavert whom she met three years ago who lived like everything was meaningless. And now the offer from the imperial family that is trying to force her regardless of her opinion. She grabs Cavert’s arm and tells him to let them get engaged before she accept the offer. Cavert is surprised. She tells him she doesn’t want to end up like his brother. Not that she could kill him but she doesn’t want to lose him.
    • Swept away by their feelings, the two kiss. Renee thinks the moment was endlessly sweet when Cavert’s lips touched hers. She thinks she’s so desperate for the breath that comes into her mouth. She can’t avoid this sweet, desperate kiss. Gentle lips carefully bite her lower lip. It was a soft kiss that made her heart tickle and her whole body melt. He kissed her very carefully. The process of the cold outside air, mixed along with the slightly twisting head, and then getting hot again, was chillingly sweet. She naturally embraced Cavert and accepted more of his kisses. When the new air gets warmer and hotter, her back touched the bed. There is clear bewilderment on Cavert’s face. Renee was surprised too. She was kissing Cavert but when she leaned back, she fell into the bed completely. She was talking to him sitting on the bed anyway so she thinks it’s the natural result.
    • Cavert sits up and apologizes to her. Renee grabs him by the collar and force him to face her. She tells him he always apologizes. She knows it’s because of that time she told him she was afraid of him and yelled at him. Since then he has taken a step back from everything. Renee thinks that she’s glad that he is considerate of her but she doesn’t always want him to step back. She realizes that he’s always worried thinking that she’d never see him again if he did something wrong. Now he seems to know that she doesn’t hate him but he’s still low key. In the present moment, she grabs his collar and tells him that it’s just that she was surprised (about kissing on the bed) but she didn’t hate it. She tells him that he can kiss her.
    • Their lips touch as soon as she finished speaking. A lovely tender kiss swept away by their emotions. Cavert’s lips stop as they try to chase hers. Renee playfully tells him to kiss her gently and then their lips overlap again. Cavert takes off his lips slightly making her senses sensitive. The brush of his lips makes her feel giddy. He asks her how long can he kiss her. She wraps her arms around his neck with a sudden appreciation and tells him, until the snow stops?
    • Renee goes to a province outside the capital where a new temple of Elnur is being built. She meets with some old nobles along with the high priest. She’s thinking that she wants to engage in missionary work. She also wants to build up Elnur’s religion. She’s doing this in order to make her position stronger to prevent the imperial family from trying to use her. She’s already pretty much made up her mind that she doesn’t want to deal with the imperial family especially after hearing what they did to Cavert.
    • When she returns to the capital, Cavert isn’t back from La Debus duchy. He is already three days late in returning and the Iiknur celebration will be held the next day. She’s also worried about attending the party without Cavert since he’s very good at protecting her from the nobles. She visits the Lucille Institute where she meets Tiraq. They’re walking in the courtyard and Renee is complaining about her fears of attending the celebration without Cavert. Renee really wants to attend the party to build the strength of Elnur otherwise she would miss it since Cavert isn’t back. She tells Tiraq that she’s worried about the dress and her partner. She was relying on Cavert to help her pick a dress for tomorrow’s celebration. She has money but she’s worried about what to buy. Tiraq, who was boasting that his wife, Niyan, looks good in everything she wears, suggests to Renee to ask Niyan for help. Suddenly someone’s voice breaks in and tells her to come with him.
    • Renee thinks that unfortunately, she knows this voice. It’s the CP. He tells her he didn’t mean to butt in but he overheard their conversation. He says if she’s worried about a party dress, he knows a boutique where his sister purchases her dresses. Renee thinks she doesn’t want to go with him but when she heard that the princess purchases from there, her trust in the boutique increased. The CP says that she will be the star of the celebration so shouldn’t she wear a dress to match that status. Renee eventually accepts his offer after pondering for a while. She thinks they haven’t had a proper conversation since they returned from the past and that he seemed to have willfully avoided her. Favors from him would make her wary but thinking on the time they spent in the past, she was a little happy and accepted his offer. She puts her hand on the hand that he offered and she felt him flinch but she decided to ignore it.
    • The CP takes her to a boutique in the center of the capital square. There were only a few people there. Apparently it’s a boutique run by the imperial city’s exclusive designer. The CP introduces Renee to a noble woman and her daughter. Renee is impressed by his handling of the nobles. She admires his charisma and tells him so. The CP says that’s why she should agree to allow him to be her partner at the party tomorrow if the duke doesn’t return. When he first proposed the idea in the carriage drive to the boutique, Renee didn’t answer him. The CP tells her that they will have to explain their time in Bemtecan at the party so he will be with her then. The CP basically sells her on their promotion of patriotism at the party, and if the duke can’t make it, then she can be comfortable next to him.
    • Renee thinks that what the CP says is plausible so she will think about it. The other two princes will also attend the party and they want to meet her. Renee remains stiff because she feels the burden of the imperial family’s interest in her. Yet, she decided to accept the CP’s offer to escort her if Cavert didn’t return by tomorrow. She realizes that the CP was quite pleased by her decision, personally introduced her to the boutique, and gave her a dress.
    • The CP and the boutique lady choose a flashy dress for Renee and she objected because she would stand out too much. The CP says that as the main character, she should shine. Renee still objects. She insists that’s not her style. In the end she made a compromise with the CP and the boutique lady. While they’re foisting their opinions on her, Renee wishes to herself that Cavert came back. In the meantime, she decided to follow the CP’s opinions as much as possible.
    • The CP then looks at her wrist and says how about a different bracelet. (Keep in mind he knows the bracelet she’s wearing is for the Duchess Williard). Renee immediate refuses. The CP insists that the bracelet doesn’t go with her outfit. Renee thinks that somehow he seems persistent in wanting her to remove the bracelet. The boutique lady agrees with him. Renee refuses and she notices there’s a crack in the CP’s smiling face.
    • The following night at the party, Renee arrives with the CP. She can’t move her head properly because there are a lot of accessories on her head. (snickers) Her dress ordeal was also stressful and she didn’t eat lunch. As soon as she entered the party, everyone’s eyes turned to them. There’s also a strange view of Cavert’s absence. She thinks it’s the CP that’s drawing the attention because he’s always the center of the party. He’s also treating her kindly. Renee thinks this isn’t Bemtecan so she can’t do anything to him but she finds him suspicious.
    • Renee meets the other two princes. One is a high priest of Abner despite the fact that he doesn’t have divine power. Heh. Renee notes that this is packaged as faithfulness but it’s the power of the imperial family. The other brother is active in social circles. Renee finds their attention burdensome. Renee also naively promotes the temple of Elnur to the nobles right in front of the CP’s nose. She mentions a temple will possibly be built in La Debus, Cavert’s duchy. The noble she was talking to was very excited by this news especially since it’s the duke’s territory. Renee at least notices that the CP looked at her with a very strange smile.
    • The marquis who they met at the boutique the day before brought a bunch of ladies to Renee and basically broadcast that Renee is wearing a dress tailored by the CP himself. They even notice that the dress Renee is wearing matches well with the CP’s clothes. Hearing and seeing these ladies, Renee takes a step back from the CP but she almost bumped into a server and the CP put his arm around her shoulders. He keeps it there and Renee wants to get rid of his hand. She eventually took his hand off herself and thanks him for his care.
    • The emperor appears and says a bunch things. He notes that regrettably the chief of Gloria, Mahala, couldn’t attend. (smart woman). The emperor introduces the CP and Renee and they give an account of their visit to the past. Renee feels that the more she speaks, the more burdened she feels. They praised Renee for healing the sick despite the possibility of being dragged away by soldiers. Renee notes how they conveniently left out the conflict between the CP and her over this issue. Instead they wrapped up the incident in miracle with dedication. She feels overwhelmed by the spin they put on what actually happened.
    • The CP asks Renee for the first dance. He says it’s to celebrate their safe return. She accepts his reasoning and feels that it is polite to dance the first song because he escorted her. As Renee dances, she also finds the CP’s gaze burdensome. He led her to the middle of the floor, smiled and then softly whispered in her ear that she’s beautiful today. Renee deflects the compliment by telling him that the lady who dressed her up worked hard for three hours. lol The CP doesn’t say anything to that. The dance ends and Renee thinks she learned that dance from Cavert. She tries to move away after the dance but the CP wouldn’t let go of her hand. Renee tries to get him to let go of her hand but he tells her since she’s the main character of the party, why doesn’t she dance two songs together. Renee says she only knows that one dance. The CP says it’s alright and just follow him. Renee refuses but ends up dancing a second song. Half way through the song she again asks the CP to let go. She tells him again to let her go and she stepped on his foot. He asks if she did it on purpose. She denies it. They finish the second song and then Renee goes to the balcony. The CP follows her with the excuse that he’s her partner.
    • The wind is cold on the balcony. The CP tries to put his coat on Renee’s shoulders but she firmly refuses. He tries to do it again and she shakes her head. She tells him she doesn’t know why he’s trying to be so kind to her. He asks her why does she question his kindness. Renee reminds him that he said she was annoying. One of her accessories fall from her hair and he picks it up and puts it back in her hair despite her protest. He tells Renee to let them just say that he changed his mind about her being annoying. Renee tells him that she thinks he’s fickle. Renee asks him if he was especially kind to her tonight because he’s using her as a tool again. The CP burst out laughing but the laughter ended in a contrived way. He asks her if he wants to use her would she let him use her. Renee says no.
    • Renee thinks she accompanied him yesterday and today to say this. She tells him she refuse the offer he gave her. The saint title and Gloria are honored but she doesn’t want to leave Elnur to stay in the imperial city. She decided that if she wants to go to Gloria, she will prepare herself and enter it. She thinks in other words, the real meaning behind her refusal was that she did not want to belong to the imperial city and become the means there. She lifts her wrist and say that she’s about to be engaged to the duke (she’s foolish to reveal this). She says this is the bracelet she received.
    • In response, the CP’s face hardens. His eyes become cold. He looks at the bracelet and already knew what it meant. After all, it has been handed down in the duke’s family for generations. Renee actually tells the CP her intention about the timing of her possible engagement. After acting cold, the CP then puts on a picturesque smile. He says if the priest’s opinion is that, he will pass it on. Renee thinks what a capricious man to the end. She bows her head slightly and thanks him.

    • Cavert was delayed in La Debus because his father finally died. He had collapsed three years ago and his condition rapidly deteriorated recently. The funeral takes place over three days. It’s a very simple funeral for a former duke of the empire because Cavert only allowed family members to attend. After hearing the news, Renee wonders if she should attend.
    • She remembers that Cavert revealed that his brother tried to kill him. She wonders if his father knew that the brother made a deal with the imperial family to kill Cavert. She recalls it was a day that they invited Cavert to dinner after he returned from the battlefield. A day to kill him. The father sat on the sidelines and watched his son, Kervian’s actions. Renee worries about how Cavert feels at his father’s funeral.
    • While Renee ponders on these things, the duke’s butler comes to see her. Cavert contacted him to relay a message to Renee. He tells her not to come to La Debus. Renee does the complete opposite and immediately prepares to go. Tiraq helps her to access the gate to La Debus because only aristocrats or high ranking noble uses it. Since Tiraq, a commoner, is the deputy commander of the Nikyll Knights, he’s able to access the gate.
    • Renee and Tiraq arrive in La Debus and enter the mansion when it’s getting dark. Cavert calmly greets them and Renee observes that there is no sadness in his face. He only appears serene and calm. Renee asks him why did he tell her not to come. He answers that he didn’t want this to be her first memory of this place.
    • The funeral hall is silent. Cavert stares at his father’s coffin with a face devoid of emotions. Renee thinks he seems to have sent his father away three years ago. She lays a white lily in front of the coffin and then asks Cavert if her coming there upset him. Renee thinks Cavert is too accustomed to swallowing his feelings and bearing everything himself. She knows he suffers from the fact that his father sat on the sidelines and watched his brother try to kill him. Cavert doesn’t want to call his brother and father a loss but in the end they held his back for more than three years. She knows the anxiety he suffers on rainy days. He simply called it insomnia but it was in fact insomnia and anxiety.
    • Cavert tells Renee that he didn’t call her there because he also didn’t want to be comforted by her. He doesn’t want to admit that he cares about his father’s death. At the end of his words he ironically stretch out his hands and hugs her. He didn’t want to be comforted but she finally hugged him.
    • Renee returns immediately to the capital. Cavert promised her that he will return after three days. A quiet time passed in the capital as Renee’s days continued as usual. She continues her work at the temple and Lily continues to go to work at Gloria every day until the sun sets. Two days passEd like this until one day Lily returned earlier than usual. She tells Renee that a noble guest visited Gloria that day and she heard a strange story circulating ever since. Renee inquires what is the rumor. Lily looks around anxiously and carefully asks Renee if she can be honest. She tells Renee that the rumor is about ‘The Holy Knight’s fervent courtship of the Saint’. (This was a premeditated move by the CP on the night of the celebration when he was acting overly attentive and like a lover with Renee before she shoots him down good and proper on the balcony)
    • Renee frowns and thinks this is a very strange rumor. Renee realizes that this rumor was caused because of the CP’s behavior towards her on the night of the celebration. She wonders if the CP will hate hearing it but then immediately realizes that this was probably what the CP intended all along. He was especially kind to her at the party. So this was the purpose. The intention was to spread rumors. Lily, with a serious face, informs her that among the aristocracy there is already talk of a love triangle.
    • Renee tells Lily not to worry because she’s getting engaged soon anyway. She intends to talk to Cavert about the engagement later and inform Lily of the schedule first. Renee also tells Lily that she turned down Gloria’s offer and Lily promises to help her study for Gloria’s exam when she makes up her mind to enter Gloria through the proper means.
    • While Lily and Renee are talking about the love triangle rumors and Gloria’s entrance exams, the high priest calls Renee urgently. Both Lily and Renee go to him and the high priest hands over a document that informs them that the imperial city will no longer send funds to them. Renee laughs amazed and thinks if that’s their way of retaliating against her after she turned down their offer. It’s not a problem in the immediate future because they’ve been getting a lot of donations but there is worry for the long term. Cavert had also made a huge donation three years ago so that helped them to operate but currently 60% of their budget comes from the imperial city (translation: the taxes paid by citizens not the imperial family’s money) Renee thinks they can operate on their own for a year and is determined to work hard in the future to raise donations. She curses the imperial city thinking of them as pathetic and shakes her head.
    • Renee thinks she expected some headwinds anyway since she turned down their offer. She knows donations will continue to come in but she naively thinks she can have her cake and eat it too in dealing with tyrants. She actually thinks that they will still make her saint as a symbol against Belzata but the saint will come out of Elnur so the donations will pour in. She’s also more agreeable now to Cavert’s idea of building a temple of Elnur in La Debus. She believes that expanding society and gradually increasing influence will counter such pressures from the imperial city.
    • Renee and Lily suddenly hear a raucous outside. A tumult begins to spread. It’s the sound of armor and soldiers. They storm the office of the high priest. Everything happens swiftly as they grab the high priest and drag him away. Renee notices that the emblem on their armor is that of the imperial city. These would be considered police of the imperial city who arrests violators of the imperial law. The poor priest is dragged to the front of the temple and the other priests, which are mostly children that the high priest had rescued, follow after him. Quite a commotion occurs as the other priests grab the arms of the soldiers begging them not to do this.
    • Outside the temple, Renee notices a carriage bearing the patterns of the imperial tyrants. Only the imperial tyrants could ride in such a carriage so she knows one of them is sitting in it. The soldiers holding the high priest’s arms on both sides force him to kneel down. They accuse him of using the wrong words on a document left in the Elnur temple in Ferransa. They accuse him of causing confusion among the people of the empire by writing down matters that have yet to be decided. Renee thinks that the high priest left a congratulatory message for the believers in Ferransa who visited the temple but she doesn’t understand what was wrong with the document. The high priests asks what word did he use to be punished by the imperial law.
    • The high priest is told that he referred to the temple as the temple of the Holy Lady. The soldier states that there is currently no saint in the empire. He announces that the priest will be punished severely for making rash remarks as if it had been decided while discussions were still ongoing. Someone protests that many people are using the term “Saint Lady” but why is it that only the high priest is getting punished. The soldier informs them that the weight of the word and the official letter is distinctly different. The arrest warrant that the soldier shows them has the emperor’s seal on it.
    • Renee feels that the response to arrest the high priest is disproportionate. She looks at the imperial carriage again as it was about to leave after witnessing the arrest and runs in front of it to stop it. Inside is the princess Lucia. Renee accuses the woman of dragging away the high priest on purpose. The woman says the high priest’s crime is clear. He used the title “saint woman” in his official letter. Renee rebuts that even the Knight of Light used the word saint woman. The princess cuts her off promptly and tells her she doesn’t intend to engage in a war of words with her. She pointedly tells Renee that there’s a fast way to resolve the situation. She plainly tells her if she becomes a saint, the sin of the high priest will disappear. Renee thinks that this woman looks down on people. The princess tells her she’s very smart so use that smart head of hers. They won’t touch her because she’s precious but they will touch the people around her.
    • Renee ends up laughing in hostility. It was obvious that it didn’t affect the princess because she acted perfectly like a person at the top. Renee asks her if she’s threatening her. The woman responds that it’s a kind offer and then enters her carriage and then leaves.
    • Renee is angry. She’s angry at the unfair situation. She’s getting angrier thinking about it. There was nothing she could respond to in the situation. Another high priest comes to take over in the meantime but many priests in the temple were in tears because the imprisoned high priest was the one who rescued many of them, including Renee. It’s not known when punishment will be imposed or when execution will take place. Renee thinks it’s the imperial family’s way of putting pressure on her by not telling them any information.
    • Renee is pacing in her room. Lily assures Renee that the claim that the imperial family made against the priest shouldn’t be able to stand because the official letter has no proper effect. In addition, public opinion already holds her up as a saint. Renee accepts Lily’s reasoning but she thinks that this situation is unusual because there’s no trial and only one-sided punishment by the imperial city. If they claim injustice and report it to the court, who can protest against the edict bearing the emperor’s seal? No matter how independent the court is believed to be, it cannot go against the imperial family. She’s seen a lot of situations like this where people in power wield it unfairly.
    • Lily comforts Renee and Renee thinks that Lily doesn’t seem to accept that the imperial power is using an unfair move to blackmail her. Suddenly she remembers that the CP was staring at Lily with strange eyes when she told him that Lily was a close friend of ten years. Renee wonders out loud if nothing will happen to Lily, right? Lily assures Renee that she’s already in Gloria. However, the final acceptance will be decided tomorrow. Lily tells Renee to let them throw a final party before she leaves for the Gloria dormitory. Renee doesn’t think it will work given the atmosphere of the temple right now. Renee thinks it’s good that Lily will belong to Gloria/Imperial City because they won’t touch her. She leans her head on Lily’s shoulder and fight back the urge to cry.
    • Tiraq visits Renee the next day after he heard about the commotion at the temple. He wants to assure Renee that it will be okay but he thinks it’s hard to say that it would be easy to resolve since the arrest was stamped with the emperor’s seal. Renee thinks that Tiraq’s response to the situation shows the unfairness of the situation. Tiraq tells Renee that they need to respond to power with power. He tells Renee that the chief (Cavert) will take care of it.
    • The two leave the temple and arrive at the duke’s house. Renee is feeling optimistic as she goes there. Cavert is the only duke of the empire and he has so many achievements. She thinks he will be able to rescue a priest from a small temple. But why? She meets soldiers at the gate of the duke’s residence. The butler refuse to let the soldiers in. The butler informs them that the duke is away. The soldiers say that they have been ordered to search the duke’s mansion. Renee notices they are wearing the same armor and emblem as the soldiers from yesterday. The butler argues that they can’t search the duke’s residence when he’s not here. The soldiers argue that they can search an unoccupied residence. Tiraq steps forward to also prevent them from searching the residence. He asks them if they are saying that the duke already committed a crime. They wince when Tiraq yells this accusation. They bring out a document and informs Tiraq that it was already confirmed by the imperial city’s finance department. The document accuses Cavert of breaking the tax code and therefore his house should be searched to find where he hid the stolen money.
    • Tiraq argues with the soldier. The soldier holds up the search order and shows him it bears the emperor’s seal. Suddenly a chilling voice asks the soldier if that’s why he thinks he’s the emperor. Everybody fall silent as Cavert appears. Cavert takes the order from the soldier and reads it. The parchment contains a story about the tax rate of the Duke of La Debus. The duchy had to pay 45% tax to the imperial city each quarter but it fell to 20% three years ago. Imperial City claims they never allowed such changes in tax and is investigating Cavert for an unauthorized adjustment of the tax rate. In addition to the taxes that haven’t been paid, the fines written and the amount owed was truly unimaginable. Renee notes that five times the amount of taxes were calculated as a fine for deceiving the imperial power. (These villains’ abuse of power really make my blood boils. The tax deal is part of the deal that they made with Kervian to kill Cavert. Talk about corruption at its finest)
    • Renee thinks this is obviously wrong. Why are they only now taking issue after three years? No matter how she looks at it, the intention is obvious. She turned down their offer and she was going to get engaged to Cavert (she told the CP with her own mouth) and now they’re trying to hurt Cavert. She thinks the imperial city hates it when she, a saint, sticks to Cavert’s side since the duke’s influence will grow. That’s why they’re pressuring her like this.
    • Cavert orders the soldier to tell the finance department to send a clear document to the mansion. He adds that if they come to his mansion like this one more time, he will punish them for their careless behavior. Cavert then approaches Renee and she steps back, ready to burst into tears. She didn’t want to cry in front of him but in the end the injustice and absurdity of this unjust situation afflicts her to the point where she feels guilty. Cavert hugs her tightly and assures her that it’s not her fault. She buries her head in his chest and tells him that the high priest was dragged away because of her and now he’s also damaged because of her. Cavert reminds her that it’s not her fault. The imperial power’s threats are wrong and that’s not her responsibility. He soothes her and tells her it’s alright. He tells her to go back and rest at the temple for a few days. Renee feels a hint of relief as he soothes her and then she returns to the temple.
    • Renee realizes that the alleged tax code violation coincides with the time when Cavert’s brother tried to kill him. At the time of the alleged violation, Cavert’s father was the duke. Through pondering the circumstances, she concludes that the imperial family and the duke must have had an arrangement of some sort and the document is with the imperial power. Renee sighs as she walks through the silent and sorrowful temple. She realizes that she was too complacent. She had thought that she would be able to respond after getting engaged to Cavert even if the imperial city withdrew support from the temple and they spread a strange rumor in the capital about love between the saint and the Knight of light.
    • Renee tiredly enters her bedroom and finds Lily, who she didn’t think she would see because Lily had intended to leave for the Gloria dorms. Renee asks Lily if she finished early today because it was the day of the final acceptance announcement. Lily was bowing her head and didn’t answer. Renee asks her what’s wrong. Renee immediately feels anxious and breathless. Lily doesn’t answer so Renee sees a piece of paper with Gloria’s emblem and picks it up. She reads it and sees they rejected Lily from the program. Renee throws a chair in her anger. Lily finally tells Renee that she’s the only apprentice they failed. She realizes Lily has been crying. She reflects that she had that very fear last night when she remembered she told the CP that Lily is her best friend of ten years. She can’t believe this is happening. This is also a threat. Since she didn’t enter the imperial city and didn’t follow through with their intentions for her, they’re pressing her down. She can’t believe they can push a person to a cliff like this. Childish. It’s so childish and absurd, she thinks. But she feels there’s nothing she can do in this situation.
    • Renee says out loud to Lily that it’s because of her. Injustice, absurdity, anger and helplessness. Lily quickly grabs Renee as it looks like she’s about to cry. Lily tells Renee if she acts like it’s her fault, she really might blame her for this so don’t cry. Lily also tells Renee that maybe she, Lily, wasn’t good enough. Renee immediately rejects that idea. Lily tells Renee it’s not Renee that’s bad and it’s not her that’s bad. Lily says that they’re both victims and she doesn’t blame Renee so Renee shouldn’t cry. Lily breaks down crying and as Renee watches her sobbing, she stands up in a stupor. Renee feels her anger rising to the point where she wants to throw everything in the room. She wants to kick and scream.
    • Renee suddenly remembers Mahala’s admonition to come to her when she’s become infinitely helpless. She thinks that Mahala is the head of Gloria and now Lily has been rejected. Therefore Mahala cannot be unaware of the situation. She decides to visit Mahala at Gloria.
    • Holding back tears, Renee goes to Gloria’s tower. Renee notes that the way she was readily received and escorted to Mahala’s office, it meant that Mahala was already expecting her. Renee reflects on the things that Mahala warned her about that she only took at face value before. Mahala had already hinted to her that the imperial offer was not a choice. Mahala had also encouraged her to rest now in peace after returning from Bemtecan because when she returns to the capital she would be busy. Mahala had also told her to come to her when she became helpless. That means that Mahala has been watching from the sidelines up until now. The fact that Lily was failed from Gloria means that she now joined the situation.
    • Renee enters Mahala’s office and grows more and more emotional as she watches Mahala calmly brewing tea with a relaxed appearance. Renee immediately accuses Mahala, asking her how could she do that and she knew everything all along. Mahala slightly raised her head when Renee shouted and directed the escort to leave the office and close the door. Only silence remained for a while until Mahala tells Renee that she’s late. She had tell her before that she wanted to have tea with her. Renee tells Mahala that she’s not here for tea. Mahala responds that chamomile tea is effective in calming the nerves.
    • Renee admires Mahala in her thoughts. She reflects on all of their acquaintance up until now. She asks Mahala if it was always the case that if she turned down the offer that Lily will fail. Mahala says yes. Renee says she thought Gloria was a place for talent and Lily isn’t lacking at all. Her anger and outrage brings her to tears. All the emotions she’s endured hitherto poured out at once. The absurdity and injustice created feelings of anger and helplessness. Renee regrets not identifying the situation before.
    • Mahala tells Renee that she can blame her. She knew Renee would end up like this but she sat on the sidelines. However, now she’s in. She asks Renee what can she do now. Does she think crying will solve anything? Renee thinks every word that Mahala said dropped sharply. What does emotion solve? Mahala pulls a chair and sits down in front of Renee and puts a hand on her shoulder. She tells Renee that the high priest who raised her was imprisoned and her best friend was rejected from Gloria. The more precious things she reveals, the more they become her weakness.
    • Renee realizes that from Mahala’s attitude, she is not on the side of the imperial family. She also suddenly remembers that Duan also had the same cynical attitude towards the imperial family. Renee thinks that she came here to fight and argue with Mahala because Gloria is a member of the imperial power but instead she found a different attitude in Mahala. While Mahala didn’t comfort her with warm words, the cold sarcasm made her relax.
    • Renee thinks the whole situation is so, so mean. She didn’t think it would be like this after she rejected the offer. Mahala answers that it’s naive of her to think that. Renee says she didn’t think it would explode all at once. Renee says that the duke could get hurt too and why didn’t Mahala tell her. The duke is about to be saddled with ridiculous debts. Mahala tells Renee that it wouldn’t have made a difference if she told her in advance. She also enlightens Renee that the duke makes a ton of money. La Debus is the only place in the empire where mana stones are mined and the demand is increasing. (Renee sure hit jackpot considering her wish was to have a ton of money). Renee is speechless. However, the duke would still take a financial hit and that would just be the beginning. Renee feels the situation extremely unfair.
    • Mahala points at the bracelet on Renee’s wrist and tells her that the imperial family is very wary of the current Duke Williard so they’ve been sending him to rough and dangerous places. Renee, shocked, asked if all that was done on purpose. Mahala tells Renee that the imperial family cleverly sent Nikyll Knights to conquer other kingdoms and sent the Holy Knights to sites where the empire was attacked by other countries. She asks Renee what does she think the difference is. Renee answers that it starts rumors that affect public opinion. Mahala says that’s correct. The leader of the Nikyll Knights became the blood-covered warhead and the leader of the Holy Knight and his knights became heroes of the empire. The presence of warheads and heroes in the empire stimulated interest which is often used in the confrontation between evil and good.
    • Renee agrees. Language forms a sense of unconsciousness. Through language, people were already afraid of Cavert and admires the CP as a hero. She acknowledges in her thoughts that when Cavert first came to the temple, she was already afraid of him because of the rumors. She realizes that the imperial family was finally happy to see a genius with high divine power and a talent for swordsmanship among the princes but there was another man of the very same age who was perhaps superior to the prince. They would see him as a threat.
    • Renee says, so then the prince should be the center of the empire and the duke is annoying? Mahala says yes and that’s why the imperial family tried to get rid of Cavert Willard. Renee already knew some of the story. Mahala says that Cavert Williard was too influential. He became the leader of the Nikyll Knights and was appointed heir to the duke, which made him even more influential. As he made achievements, his prestige will only increase and with such a man as duke, all the nobles will follow him. Renee thinks that they tried to get rid of him because they were afraid of what he would become. They used Kervian Williard who was in love with the princess Lucia. The attempt failed and the grand duke collapsed so they spent three years delaying Cavert’s succession which became the absence of a chief that would lead the nobility strongly.
    • The problem also became that the saint wanted to stand next to the duke. Mahala asks Renee what does she think the imperial family has prepared over the past three years. The answer is they will try to make the prince who is active in the social circles a duke. They are trying to preserve the present power in the next generation. Mahala also says that when the saint appeared, they think of her as a mate for the CP. Renee immediately rejects the idea and plainly says she hate it. Mahala looks a little surprised by her scream and strong rejection. Renee thinks that either way, it’s ridiculous. Mahala tells her that it is fortunate that she doesn’t have a heart for the CP but the empire has already created public opinion again. She asks Renee if the prince hadn’t behaved especially kind to her at the Iiknur celebration. She said rumor has it that the chief of the knights of light has a crush on her.
    • Mahala says that in any case the rumors have already spread and some people may think that the combination of saint and hero of light is good. Mahala eventually laughs out loud as she watches Renee’s expression darken. After she stops laughing, she warns Renee that the more she refuses, the more they will pressure her. They will use her as a symbol of the empire and not just as a symbol power.
    • Mahala says she knows everything about how the former saint died but this time she will tell Renee. The imperial family wanted the saint so they basically pressed Mahala to press down on the saint who wouldn’t follow orders and hurt people around her. They even killed what she loved. The former saint, Cecelia, wandered around solving the epidemic that had spread throughout the empire. Particularly, she took care of abandoned children who had serious symptoms of the disease. Later, the imperial family threatened the saint by holding the place where the children lived. The saint also loved someone she met while wandering. He was a friendly guy who had no power. He went around digging up herbs to help with treatment. The saint refused to marry into the imperial city because of this person and a few days later, he died. Eventually the saint had to marry the imperial family and she died early after suffering from the reality of living without the thing she loved.
    • Mahala said she had no doubt back then that the title of saint was an honor. She thought it should go to Cecilia who shines brighter than anyone else, However, it killed the child’s light. Renee thinks that each of Mahala’s words contain sadness, longing and anger. Mahala warns Renee that the imperial family will continue to torment her until she gives in. They will continue to threaten Lily and the high priest and they will also nitpick the duke on everything. Mahala admits though that there is something hidden behind the duke’s alleged tax evasion. She thinks it has to do with Kervian Williard. Renee thinks that again, Kervian Williard is holding on to Cavert’s ankle.
    • Mahala advises Renee that’s there’s only one thing she can do in this situation. She advises her to accept the offer. Lower herself to the imperial family. She tells her that she has to become the saint. She will be a symbol of ending the long war against Belzata. She tells Renee to come into Gloria. Renee wants to know if this is the conclusion to all of this but then she realizes that Mahala has a determined look on her face. Mahala tells Renee that sure she will be embarrassed to submit to the tyrants but think about it because there’s no other response she can make at the moment. Everyone around Renee was harmed. Mahala’s tone while saying this is unwavering. For all these years she has been determined and she will finally end her regret and remorse. Her fingertips tremble as she points to her desk and says that she has no intention of losing anything again to the imperial family. She’s going to push them down their high noses. Everything won’t go their way. She will break their arrogance in this Gloria. She says Gloria was made to be with Cecilia (Gloria was originally solely healers). Mahala’s eyes flashes as she promises Renee that she will make her stronger than them (imperial family).

    • Mahala shares her plans to check the imperial family with Renee. Once Renee enters Gloria, she will walk on the same road with Mahala using those plans. There’s just one decision that breaks her heart (break up with Cavert) and she tells Mahala that she needs time to think about it. Renee walks outside after leaving Gloria. She thinks it’s not surprising that those who are praised as Light of the empire have actually sacrificed many people to consolidate their power. There has been countless such movements since the foundation of the empire.
    • However, the target now became her. They want to bend her and the precious people around her are getting hurt. There is only one way she’s been given but there’s no guarantee it will be easy. Renee wonders what she should do. To make up her mind, she goes with heavy feet to the imperial prison to visit the high priest. She feels miserable and when she sees the high priest, she couldn’t help but notice the dark circles under his eyes. The priest asks her what she’s doing here in a worried voice. Renee thinks fondly of how he took care of her. She also thinks of how he kept bringing home abandoned kids even when the other priests told him it was too costly. She thinks of him like a father so it was only natural that during this tumultuous time her footsteps led her to him. She tells him that he’s trapped because of her. The high priest denies it and says it was because of his carelessness, that imprudence has troubled her and the other children at the temple. He reaches out and holds Renee’s hand to comfort her. She looks at his dirty robes where the soldiers had forced him to kneel and almost cries at the sight. She promises the high priest that she’ll get him out of there.
    • Renee climbs the long stairs out of imperial prison and finds the arrogant princess waiting for her. The woman invites Renee for tea and she accepts because there was something she wanted to find out. In the princess’s palace, Renee asks what does she need to do to free the priest. Does she have to enter Gloria and be an obedient saint? The arrogant princess tells her that she’s glad she’s so smart. She came to an answer quickly. The woman tells Renee she’s glad she got an answer today because she heard that she was there when the search order was given to the duke. Renee wonders how the woman knows she was present but then she admit that it’s the almighty imperial power. Nevertheless, this is the information she wanted to find out and the reason why she accepted the woman’s invitation to tea.
    • The answer to the reason why the tax evasion charge was seen as puzzling is because of an arrangement the imperial family had with the former duke. The woman tells Renee that they have in their possession a certain document that contains the agreement that the imperial family will cut the tax rate from 45% to 20%. If the document becomes public, the duke doesn’t have to pay the exorbitant amount they charged him. The problem is, there is one more statement included in the document and it involves the promise that the duke (title not person) will marry the princess. Renee is very bewildered by this revelation and actually reacts loudly.
    • The woman reveals to Renee that the emperor didn’t want Cavert to inherit the title of duke so he naturally turned to Kervian Williard. If Kervian becomes the next duke, they will reduce the taxes on La Debus and allow him to marry the princess. She mentions the former duke’s seal is also on the document. He wanted Kervian to succeed him but all the other nobles wanted Cavert to inherit the title. Renee still marvels over the fact that they tried to kill Cavert. The woman says they didn’t expect that. They thought the duke would change the successor. Still, it’s not like the imperial family didn’t expect the attempted murder at all. The conclusion Renee draws is that the imperial family signed a contract with La Debus to get rid of Cavert Williard subject to Kervian’s marriage to the princess. The attempt failed, the papers became obsolete and now they found a way to exploit its use. They want to use the document to force Renee otherwise they will try to use the document to force Cavert to marry the princess.
    • Renee feels like a hot fire is soaring inside her. She feels like a mess and is stressed with the puke of disgust. Cavert was almost killed by his brother and had endure his father’s neglect. But now he must suffer from a document left by his brother and father. Renee asks the woman what’s the point of this. The woman says it’s because the priest said she will get engaged to the duke. Renee feels horribly disgusted by the way things are. She asks the princess so not only does she have to come out of the temple Elnur and enter Gloria but now she must also part with the duke? The woman confirms that if she does those things, Cavert will also not be forced to marry her.
    • Renee feels incredibly bitter inside. She weighs down the emotions she feels inside and says that she’ll accept the offer. Mahala had already discussed with Renee that the imperial family cannot kill Cavert but they will continue to undermine his influence. That’s why Mahala told Renee before she left the Gloria building that she needs to break up with Cavert. Mahala already drew the conclusion that the imperial family intends to take over Abner, the state religion, by using the prince who doesn’t have divine power and using the other prince, who is dominant in social circles, to become a duke. It’s a more perfect tyranny.
    • Renee swallows her rising emotions and asks the princess for more time to gather her thoughts. The woman gives her two more days with a smile of full fledged mercy on her face. A maid suddenly announces that the princess’s escort to dinner is here. The woman tells Renee that she’s glad she set her direction quickly. She tells Renee not to worry because the light will shine on the priest. Renee is reminded of the past. There was someone else who said the same thing to her. He offered her a strange proposition to cheat and told her not to fear being harmed by it. This the person who showed up to escort the princess to dinner.

I think the fact that Renee was being naive was realistic. Renee was from modern era, she was reincarnated into a new world with absolutely no clue about it, which explains why Renee wasn't aware of the Imperial Family. So I think it really makes sense and I don't really blame Renee for being naive

The Imperial Family really act like true villains, giving us reader numerous reasons to hate them lol. The more I read, the more my hatred towards them grow

Before, I though Mahala would try to find a way to kill the Imperial Family but that wasn't the case

It's a relief that both Renee and Cavert were able to escape from that damn family and be together :blobsmilehappyeyes:
