    to make it worse, sometimes the author doesn't really provide us with the official name (using alphabet), so the translation may be differ according to the translator.

    Shuli's official name in Kakaopage indonesia and Tapas is "Shuri"

    Archmage's daughter also have the same problem lmao
    메이벨 / Maybell <korean name provided by moonseol_a> --> Mabel <Tapas> --> Maybelle <Kakaopage Indo> --> メイベル /Meiberu/Maybel <piccoma>
    라키엘 --> Raquiel <Tapas> --> Rykell <Kakaopage Indo> --> ラキエル/Rakiel <Piccoma>

    Yeah, name choices can be weird for those novels sometimes. To my knowledge there are no English names that would be written シュリ(Shuli) in Japanese. Sally would be サリー(Sarii), Shirley would be シャーリー(Shaarii). It is a Japanese name though, and also how they write the name of the character Shuri from Marvel's Black Panther.

    Every author has different ways for choosing their character names, and sometimes it doesn't seem like they put much thought in it, honestly. Translating them can be tricky business though, since sometimes there are multiple names that use the same Japanese spelling. Using another one that you've listed, シェリー(Sherii) would be "Cherie", but could also be "Shelly" or "Sherry". In those cases the translator just has to pick one and stick with it (assuming there's no official translation of it).

    "A Stepmother's Marchen" is Korean, not Japanese.

    Tbh I’ve seen some much shitty MTL that I’m use to it now. When I first started reading novels and stuff I was like wtf is this translation but over time I got use to it and it doesn’t bother me anymore . It might affect me a little but not that much . If it’s like you can’t comprehend I’ll drop it if I can't understand anything .

    Why "learn the language to read the novel" is not an option?

    I am not someone who's fuzzy with grammar and what else, but I really feel the difference a translator could make when I read Kenkyo.

    I dropped it when it was still translated by previous translator, but picked it back up and loved it when oniichan picked it up.

    I adapted myself to understand mtl (note:for fanfiction only) because of my curiosity, I always make my own glossary for myself so that when I go mtl Ill just put the equivalent names of the characters to their mtled names, and sometimes I go backtracking for confirmation

    I sincerely doubt that I would be able to read a mtld story if i wasn't already invested i.e continuing from the novel after reading the manhwa or just coming from a better novel translation. If I already know the story is quite good then i'm willing to auto-correct the text as i read, but otherwise I would not even give the story a chance. Sorry not sorry; I have standards.

    I was asking about translation quality
    I'm not like that so I can't say if to what extent is that actually true. If I want to learn a language, my primary reason wouldn't be because I don't want translation. Learning needs both time and effort.

    Most renal actions and author notes in the paragraphs or between the paragraphs are annoying. I can handle one or two or if it is explaining a historical context, but comments I rested by author 4,5,8 times is annoying and I stop reading
