For my English literature project, I have to find a movie to explain the symbols and lighting in it, but I don't really know what film to choose. The requirements of the film are: Appropriate for school (+No horror or gore please), the original language must be in English, and I'd appreciate it if it is considerably short (1~2 hours) or has easy to understand English. It'd be helpful if it's easy to point out different symbols and lightings. It's my first time creating a thread so I'm sorry if I'm doing this wrong.
Hmm maybe try movies based on books or plays? I remember there are a few romeo and Juliet ones but idk the names (there is a modern one ) There is also princess bride ;pretty funny too though it’s older. I also think Disney movies might fit too if you are only looking for symbolism and lighting. In the movie mulan, the cricket is lucky symbol In beauty and the beast, the rose symbolizes love (I watched one YouTube video talking about the beast turning human reveal made him look weird but looking the process it seems they simplified the shadows and thus removing some handsome parts )
