Yup, but only a little tbh. I was even wondering if it should be used as a knife (as in cutting object) or as a dull metal stick (stabbing object) when using as murder weapon. There are two type. Smooth edged sharpened one and serrated one. The sharpened one is very rare to find in use these days because it's inconvenient and expensive.
The one that we have are serrated. If you're talking about the smooth edged one, isn't that a butter knife?
There are some dinner steak knives with smooth edges that are quite sharp. But I don't usually see them being placed at family dinners often unless it's a barbecue or you're serving a thick steak... I'd rather serve bite-sized cuts of meat and eat it with chopsticks...
Ahhh I realized you're talking about steak knives. We have that one but it's not well used. Like you we just cut the meat and serve it like than instead of putting a slab of met in each plate.
No there is a dinner knives with smooth edged one that has to be sharpened. It also has pointier tip. Frankly speaking there's a lot of dining knives but there's two major different type. I think they're only provided when you're served steaks or meaty dish.
