Question is this a harem or a reverse harem?

    in a bl, if there are multiple lovers, like harem level amount, is it a harem because the mc is a guy? or is it a reverse harem bc the love interest are guys?

    That's actually a pretty good question...I guess it depends on whether the MC is the dominant one in the relationships or not?

    Usually people just say harem or male harem
    A harem is defined more along gender lines than top/sub dynamics. Also, a harem is defined as a group of females w/ 1 male. A reverse-harem is the opposite version of that. There isn’t a corresponding word (at least in English) for a group of men focusing on one man

    From the BL I've read, the relationship is usually pretty defined in terms of who's "top" and who's "bottom".

    I always call a harem that the "bottom" has, a "reverse harem" (when I really want to come down to the specifics- otherwise, just "harem" is enough), and vice versa.

    I'm not sure if this applies to everyone else, though :hmm:
