In middle school, my classmates and I were discussing the safety of our homes. One of my classmates spoke up and said, her mom never locked their house's doors. Their house was on a distant hill somewhere, one that would take a long time to climb (drive?) up, and her mom reasoned, "If robbers actually go through all the effort to climb up this hill in order to rob our house, I'd rather they come in through the doors instead of breaking the windows and making a mess." And I was like... great solution But I would never leave my house's doors unlocked even though I live in a remote neighborhood surrounded by a forest, with nothing to rob in the first place. So I ask you guys... would you lock your doors or no, if you lived on a distant hill like them?
I also live in some hill surrounded by trees. I lock the big gate, the small door on the big gate, the small gate, the screen door/outer door, the hardwood door/inner door, the back door, the windows. Yes, I lock doors.... Oh, it's also satisfying to open them all in the morning.
I always lock my doors since I'm in the suburbs surrounded by many~ --*posted from @Lissi 's computer* ---
We always lock our doors, every night. There have been a few robberies in our neighborhood. I think it might depend on where you live. But even in a remote area, I'd never be confidant enough to leave the doors unlocked.
I live in a condo complex on a hill and I would still always lock my doors. I’ve lived there technically since I was born (it was my mother’s) and I happen to know that the complex itself has been broken into a few times and stuff has been stolen, even though the area we live in is considered pretty safe... (That arsonist that one Christmas, who went around town burning down houses and burned down the house across the street excepting.) Mr. Hamster, however, forgets to lock the doors multiple times a week. It always worries me, especially since people have tried to enter our condo since we moved in, probably thinking it’s a utility closet, since the backdoor is the one with the markings, not the front door. (Realtors, probably, since some of the condos are currently for sale.)
I used to watch a ton of Criminal Minds so now I always lock every door. My parents tease me for it because we live in a safe neighborhood but no ma'am i am not getting serial killed today
Keep in mind that your address can be traced from your internet usage on here and you probably shouldn't be telling everyone your door is unlocked and where the valuables are hidden.
We lock them all the time~ Especially at night or when no one is currently at the living room (our living room is just in front of the main door)
A minor comfort, anyone capable of doing such a thing would not voluntarily leave his house to go rob yours or have the social skills to get someone else to do it anyway.
Yeah to be honest I doubt anyone on the forums would go through the troubles, unless you reveal that you have bags of non-sequential bank notes and stacks of pure gold bars and prove it by livestreaming it.
I don't even let my personal belongings outside of an arms reach when I'm with friends in public. No way I'm going to leave my house unlocked even in our peaceful village. At some point I'd like to add contact switched to all the doors and windows so I can remotely view in anything gets opened when in away, and then confirm the situation with security cameras.
