    Genuinely curious, but is there a reason why translators who split their translations chapter do not use ‘part 1’, ‘part 2’ to indicate that they are split?

    Won’t it make the Status in CCO info on NU redundant?

    They don't care that it makes the status info redundant ._. they're just doing it because they don't want to expose to the average reader that they're splitting average length chapters into 2-3 parts so they can charge a ton of money on Patreon for tiny chapter parts.

    edit: missed a word lol

    It's also quite attractive to have so many chapters.

    For the clicks and the money.

    It only starts becoming a problem when they drop a series/stop translating, since that means both the readers and whoever picks the series up will be utterly lost.

    I would disagree--splitting the chapters so much totally fucks with the pacing. I don't mind when translators split occasionally or when they split long chapters, but consistently cutting a 3k chapter into 1k parts (regardless of whether it's labeled "part 1/2" or not) makes it so difficult to stay engaged and feel like the story is actually moving at a reasonable pace. It does also suck when they drop it and the messy numbering is still there though.

    This so much. Especially in Japanese WNs/LNs when a lot of the chapters consist of short sentences and onomatopoeia.

    The Man Picked Up By the Gods is a particularly bad example. Chapters are split into 3 or more extremely short parts, each containing almost no actual story. Combined with general slow release rate between each ‘part’, and its a lesson in patience. I would prefer a longer wait time if it means I can get a whole chapter instead.

    It is for the page refreshes. Out of 1 chapter they can get 2-3 Ad Views (As in someone opening up a new page rather than clicking on it) ... Plus it will push it up further visibility wise. I understand why they do it. But it is quite annoying especially when splits are done semi unnaturally. And Yes. As mentioned above they can charge for the chapter parts rather than the whole chapter itself.

    Greed. Money.

    Even the part 1 and part 2 stuff is annoying when their cutting chapters to be like a couple hundred words per release.

    Sometimes it's how the author splits it.

    Agreed. I would have liked to stock up chapters before reading them but then not having having the “part” label makes even this tedious to do... (which is why I’d have prefered them labeling it)

    Ended up putting tons of books back to tbr list and waiting for them to be completed :\

    But it’s ridiculous to see the ori novel is completed at 100ch while translation is at ch 395 for example lol.
    Ahh. Okay I forgot about Patreon ;~;

    I get the reason for splitting. but since even with properly labeled chapters, readers still need to go through all the pages and ads anyway, not labeling them with “part 1,2,3” doesn’t make sense unless they just want to scam people out of Patreon... :blobpeek:
