Dekis gave up on succession and so he can't be the heir now. Only Medea can be considered a heir now. Moreover, Medea did not tell (or gave any hint to) that douche bag prince that she wants to be the duke.
The prince would've been out of his mind if he were to sentenced Dekis, if Medea reveals that Dekis was a victim and to repent he was the one who archived and filed the evidence to good use for the trial, Dekis would earn the Empire's sympathy. Eros is stuck on a checkmate if he were to do that. Also, Dekis lost all the rights to inherit the duchy the moment he decides to fled and denounce his family name Beliard and become commoner Dekis.

He might reinstate Dekis as the heir to the dukedom since he doesn't want Medea to have such power and want her to be weak and only rely to him. The people might as well support the idea because medea has a bad reputation even if she reported the misdeeds of the nobles. The nobles that will be executed also don't want medea to have such power after what she did to them. The reformists as well might also push dekis to be the new duke since they can't trust medea. Also the prince might think that it is easier to manipulate Dekis as the duke rather than medea. These are all my speculations But my worries of Dekis dying has subsided. Thanks!
Not exactly, in my opinion of aristocracy, loyalty is everything. Dekis abandoned the duchy because he couldn't bear to live in it anymore and for Medea, he helps Pherion (was it?) because of Medea, he came back was probably for Medea as well and to cut ties and settle things with his father (maybe). You can never be trusted, if your loyalty was divided (one of many reason cheating bastard can never be trusted with anything). Also Eros would've been quite stupid if he were to reinstate Dekis, since Dekis solely loyal to his sister, means it won't be Eros who controls him, but rather Medea and even if he did could make him into a puppet, that'll be how he seems while within the one who has the string would be Medea herself. It'll become another checkmate situation. Though the possibility of him dying won't subside nor decrease, since now that he was a commoner. All Eros or any of those who hates him have to do was to wait until things cooled down, take him somewhere secluded and well, you know what's going to happen. Which is why, I really, really hoped that Medea have a plan to keep him safe and secluded from the Empire's reach for the sake of her brother's peaceful new life.
I hope that the prince will think that way but will he really let medea be the new duke if he wants her to be his empress? The duke seat will be vacant if she will be the empress right?
