The reason we still have latin as a language, was because the ruling elite decided they needed a language barrier between them and the common folk.
Latin is used here to confuse things just enough, to keep them out of reach of non specialists. I'm just saying that nobles and wealthy merchants have ways of keeping their power, other than just slaughter.
That was the church, not all the elites. For example for a time in England the nobles spoke French while the commoners spoke the English of their day. Fun fact regarding Latin, Medieval European literacy rates are all based on reading and writing Latin, not the local language, nd since spelling and grammar were not standardized that long ago, reading and writing was significantly more common then commonly believed. Only having to learn 26 letters and how they sound, then being able to sound out the words, makes it a lot easier task to get to a usable level.
I think the limiting factors pertain to his Skill levels and his Mana pool. The latter is effectively a non-issue as long as people say their heartfelt prayers on a semi-regular basis. The former limited him to A-Rank dungeons once, but that was before Vandalieu's apotheosis; since every S-Rank dungeon we know of has been directly related to a god, perhaps Vandalieu can create his own S-Rank dungeons now. Zozogante's dungeon once held thousands of Ghouls, and it was A-Rank at most; I don't think it'd be too farfetched to think an S-Rank dungeon, appropriately designed, could sustain a hundred-thousand people or more.
As far as deliberate language barriers go, my favorite comes with the Korean emperor who went "This Chinese system is bullshit, I am going to pull a new alphabet out of my ass and it's going to be the best designed and most easily understood writing system ever." And it was. And the people who came after him haaaaaated that the commoners could read because people kept using the Chinese characters specifically because it was absurdly difficult and time consuming to learn. But this is a Japanese story and Japan has never heard of Korea so I guess that's not relevant. So. Question for people. What's one thing you could feasibly see this story doing but would absolutely hate? For example, Vida gets anywhere close to joining Van's harem would be super icky for me. And I think any ending where Van kills Amemiya would be pretty upsetting given his closeness to Amemiya's kids.
Don't worry to much about that one. To much would need to go wrong for Amemiya and Van to end up as opponents. HE has seen to much corruption and lies to blindly go after Van. Spoiler There will be a "reconciliation" anyway, not that Van is above pranking of Amemiya Spoiler Through Amemiya's kids Van gives a bunch of bravers transforming armor/power suits. Amemiya's is INCREDIBLY embarrassing, and none of the others are anywhere close
And that in turn sounds kind of boring. Spoiler Alda is a shit final boss, we need someone better. Amemiya and Van being actual allies sounds terrible. I mean, I don't want Amemiya to die, but I want him to continue screwing up, get punched in the face, realize he's a dork and apologize.
The only problem with this is that if the reincarnated people dont agree to kill van wholeheartedly then rod will mind wipe them and pawn them off to alda. Not like they can lie either because as long as they are in his divine realm he can read there thoughts.
You are assuming Rod will not screw that up, like he does EVERY time. Willing to bet once Rod tries to remove memories, since he is only use to heave handed measures and taking the easiest option, he ends up having to remove the cheats as well. That or since he does not seem to understand Human emotions properly he misses something and Amemiya gets through free. Spoiler Spoiler Or Alda stakes Rod before Amemiya dies
Given an eldritch mini abomination is lurking around them that isn't even that unlikely. Mei is almost certain to end up on Van's turf. Her brother as well.
By advancing technology and economy reduces the distance between the rulers and the commoners. And sooner rather later a commoners will think that they are a better ruler and anarchy ensued.
Authoritarian regimes always end in chaos. Its an inherently flawed system. Died without a politically strong heir? Chaos. Just look at China. No country managed to destroy itself that often for the same reasons.
The manga for this series always confused me a little. With the pacing the story has, why would you ever make this a monthly at best manga? I mean, I guess when you've got like six chapters of talking about mayonnaise in the WN it can be condensed down to about two or three panels, but the story is still far too slow paced for a release schedule like that. Nuaza looks good though.
Yep, ever since he first came back, she has been guided, the Bravers that became holy spirits confirmed it.
so just a notice, some guy is trying to list all of vandalieu accomplishments but he needs help remembering them. If anyone is feeling froggy and wants to jump in heres the link to his post https://forum.novelupdates.com/thre...-fourth-time-feat-thread.127433/#post-6440523
I would like to thank all of you enthusiastic conversational bastards for raising my hopes for a new translated chapter every day for the past few weeks. Best wishes and may Rod bless you all
