If they want to insist on rewarding them, then why not reward them with the items that weren't used in the battle? It should simultaneously reward them for their work, and punish them for their greed. It would just need to be phrased properly so that the punishment part of it wasn't obvious to anyone who didn't already know that they tried to scam the sirens.

They should have told the sirens about the dragon so that they could begin preparing. They'll be much more useful in the fight if they know what fight they're getting into. It'll also be easier for them to defend themselves between now and then if the dragon decides to target them first again.

I wonder why it no longer occurs to her that Jude could write the letter and sign his own name to it...

Did anyone else think that what she was forgetting was Kajsa and Bentham? I was already anticipating them remembering after they were already halfway to the port, and having to turn around to go retrieve them

 

the dragon suppsoedly only conquered the sirens after reviving and conquering the southern lands, so the sirens wont have any interactions with the dragon if Jude and Cordelia kill him upon his revival. Though he could use the excuse that scylia stole the orb to drag them into the fight

when I read the end of the latest chapter I went Oh Frack (yes, I actually did for once lol kind of went with the mood there), but seriously Jude loves to keep her on the hooks about his RL job, I bet we won't know till any extra chapters after the story ...

 

Not necessarily. Every 30 or so chapters they give some more flashbacks for Jude. Like we've determined he was recruited by either some mercenary team or government black op squad as a kid. Something that allowed him to retire from it at a relatively young age as an adult and be able to still live in normal society after the fact.

Because at the end of the day they only need to get one of them to force the thief to come after them so it's better to concentrate all your forces to assure success. So their choices are to guard Kasja's family's one, or go after one of the other two. Cordelia and Kasja sure as hell aren't going to suggest "guard" so that's what happened.

 

Considering the two Beasts' instinct, the one that they're going to steal is either the easiest one to get, or the next target of the other thief.
