    I've been away from reading novels for almost a year and a half and suddenly I saw BL novel request thread for almost half, is there any trend going on or what?

    Its the current rush like the old isekai, or xianxia was when it was "new".

    Caused by shift in tlers and reader base. Threads like yours here sometimes pop up.

    If you like it, try it. Same pitfalls as the rest of stuff getting tled (except with higher star grading).

    If you don't there should be a filtering option somewhere in searching or options?

    BL has always been very popular. I don't think there's been a particularly significant increase compared to 1-2 years ago.

    BL has been a thing since 70s. Now more novels and manga are getting translated.
    Look at the publishing date in the future.

    Read the OP post again. A bit incoherent, but they asked about the surge in bl thread requests.

    Publishing dates of stuff is irrelevant here.

    Yeah there's definitely a new trend with BL. I mean I'm new to novels but I can see that BL is becoming more popular in recent years. I don't mind it tho! tbh I prefer it over BG lol

    In that case the answer is more bl started getting translated = more bl fans being interested in more authors. More bl fans = more desire to read something that hasn't been translated :blobpopcorn:
    Btw the title of the thread and OP asking if there's a trend going on could also be understood as his asking if BL is suddenly very popular too.

    Yes, It been getting so popular, new Bl novels to be translated, more Bl anime showing. Very excited in this!:LOL:

    it's a recent thing I guess
    the bl Community has grown a fair bit as compared to when I first started

    I think more and more BL request threads pop up because the recent trend that tencent and bilibili did/do with the bl adaptations.And you can even throw youku in a mix with their Tian Ya Ke adaptations. Also they usually have high quality/high budget for those kind of dong hua. Honestly i am all for it. I am sick of seeing harem trash cultivation novel that are always getting adaptation.
