Why is there no trauma? Like several novels MCs are betrayed you'd think they'd be once bitten twice shy but nope. Instantly accepts a fat best friend "rolls eyes and sighs in exasperation". The first kill not being traumatic is slightly acceptable but a backstabbing best friend? That shit hurts.
The authors writing that have probably never been betrayed by a long time friend. I never had clue of how horribly painful that was until it happened to me.
the world moves as the plot dictates, puny MCs aren't qualified to question the plot or what irrational nonsense it requires them to do/think
Maybe MC wasn't all that attached to them in the first place, is very mentally resilient, or maybe it's lazy writing.
Yea you'd think that but most of the times with the reincarnated fellows who lived 1000s of years, having that friend for the 1000s of years. You'd think that would be a world of pain and betrayal considering how painful it is for a teenage betrayal and a middle aged betrayal from friends you've know since forever.
Because all authors are normal people, they don't spend their lives killing and slaughtering people, they weren't stabbed in the back by their friends (even if they were betrayed, it wouldn't be as severe as in the novels). Lastly, those authors are mostly in their 20s or 30s, of course, they wouldn't know people older than 1000 years act. They write novels as means of sustaining their livelihoods, not as if those novels were carefully crafted after years of planning and development. Even Gu Zhenren, the most brilliant CN author, had several plot holes in his masterpiece Reverend Insanity.
Like what phucanhcr02 said. Though Reverend Insanity will always be an absolute masterpiece and dear to my heart, it does have it's own share of plot holes. Love Fang Yuan though.
Gonna have to disagree with that. Such a blatant and raw betrayal where the mc screams at them for it instead of just glossing over it should have a larger impact. It should take him a while to open up and heal the emotional scars. As for the writer of Reverend Insanity, every novel has flaws and plot holes if you try too hard to cover them up then it usually does more harm than good. Like Reverend Insanity it's upsides are just so good that nobody cares about some plot holes. It's the same for many other novels as well. It's simply impossible for a novel to have no flaws at all. Even if you write yourself for yourself at most it'd just perfectly match your taste bit once other people read it then they might not like it as much as you do.
