Broad subject here, we can talk about all aspects. I'll just start with the online one. Most people seem to refer to unknown people online as he, instead of they or she. I try to use they though sometimes I forget, just now I commented on a clearly female OP thread. My literal thought was this is probably a female due to the post...and her name is AneeChan. Once I started writting the commented I referred to OP as male, brain wtf.
I have noticed females doing the opposite with male characters so I think people just unconsciously use pronouns more familiar to them.
What about the theory that if all the people i talk to irl are males, i assume all the people i talk to online are males as well
Your life actually(without utter botching of pronounciation and Serbian name, not Russian, and it would be spelled Janković not Yankovic, 0 research Dirt League)
cuz your mindset there no girl on internet? or G.I.R.L. well neutral gender pronounce is rare used on english no? bear with it~
It's just normal to get genders wrong online esp if it's an anonymous chat thing. And honestly speaking being thought of as a dude online is better than being hit on just cause you're female lol unless ur into the whole online dating thing.
I simply use "you". It works as being both gender neutral and also a plural. So whatever the person's orientation I am safe. So I debunk this comment like all these blasphemous translators who claim English language lacks this or that.
I mean... I usually just sheep and use whatever pronouns other people are using if it's not listed in their profile (which is only one tap away so uh... yes, I check). If not, I try to avoid using pronouns as much as possible, and just use periods.
I use they if I dunno someone's gender usually... Though sometimes I one-sidedly decide the gender of someone if they don't set it on their profile... Because well, I felt like it.
as the old internet saying goes Welcome to the internet where men are men women are also men and children are undercover agents
meanwhile me : Dude if i see someone saying or doing something stupid but i can still relate because younger me has done the same before. Bro if i totally relate with them. Mate if I'm exasperated with them. Lads if i relate professionally with them.
