For those who don't know Liziqi, it's a youtube channel made by, well, Li Ziqi. Li Ziqi, is a Chinese video blogger, entrepreneur, and Internet celebrity. She is known for creating food and handicraft preparation videos in her hometown of rural Pingwu County, Mianyang, north-central Sichuan province, southwest China, often from basic ingredients and tools using traditional Chinese techniques. (credits to Wikipedia) I've been watching her videos for quite a while now. And while they're fun and interesting, I find quite a few of them to be too far-stretching, even ridiculous, if I may say so. For example, for a certain salted duck egg recipe, she got duck eggs, hatched them with the help of a hen and then made those duck give eggs. Only then, did she proceed to make her salted duck egg youl sauce. A recipe which I could never follow, even if I ignore her lack of instructions. The video if anyone's interested- After watching quite a few more videos of similar pattern, I've come to conclude that though these show off to us the uniqueness and beauty of her hometown, along with her craftiness, they don't actually do anything further than that. As such, it all ends by just watching her videos. Now the question is, what you think of Li Ziqi's videos and have you been able to come to a conclusion that differ from mine???
I haven't visited her channel nor watched any of her videos. Just watched that video from a Chinese channel on yt about her. Her contents look relaxing or something
I love her videos me and my mom frequently watch them together as they are very relaxing and not too long
never forget youtube is illegal in china if she can post videos the CCP allow it and probably force her to add in super long unnecessary things~
Used to watch a lot of her videos back in early 2018, yeah they're really relaxing and atmospheric, especially like to see the plants, forest, closeness to nature. But never followed closely and kinda forgot about her until I see this thread
YouTube or google are not really allowed in China. Tho they have their own site. But a lot of people use vpn.
Have been a subscriber for about a year now... Nothing significant really. Just calming stuff. Sorta like asmr.
She meant to display the beauty of living in slow life in the countryside along with their traditional menial laborious cultures that we seldom see anymore. I see a lot of accusations towards her of which majority comes from sinophobes that her videos is beautified version of living in the countryside that is well... Fair enough tbh. However for those that can accept to live more humbly and enjoy the menial labor you need to do you do can find solace and peaceful days Liziqi meant to portrays.
Tbh i can see why China banned YT and Google. They're color revolution propaganda organs. Can't really blame them.
It's illegal to use VPN in China, you need a license for that. These licenses are mostly given to foreign companies. So I think "liziqi" is sponsored by CCP or tolerated because she's helping to spread its soft power. Well, Japan and South Korea use Anime and Kpop to increase their soft power.
I like her videos. It's something relaxing to put on in the background when I'm cooking/eating dinner. But everything seems like a lot of effort. @samia zahin It's government censorship but in China, there's weibo and wechat (facebook + messenger), taobao and tmall (amazon/ebay), douyin (tiktok), bilibili (livestreaming), youku (youtube), baidu (google) etc. There's many Chinese apps and websites that Chinese people use instead. Plus, if you ever want to use Western media, you just get a VPN - most of my Chinese family and friends have facebook etc and they live in mainland China.
