I kinda agree with you on this one. When a person was portrayed as someone hateful in a first time line but in the second tl was explained why that someone was like that in the first tl, people would say that it’s just the author white washing them. The point of view was directed to Mc, commonly there would be misunderstanding because that is how she view it. I’m not invalidating what happened to her but I’m just saying that this is the second timeline. People deserves a second chance, the person who you are in the first tl is not you in the second especially when you changed some events. The biological family also suffered from her indifference and I can feel how heartbroken them was knowing that the child I was finding for many years got adopted by others and looking much happier not needing them a bit.

 

I don't get when time shenanigans are involved, people are still quick to vilify characters who were evil on the first time, but clearly a different person who they used to be on the second timeline. Aside from the looks and identity, they're practically not the same person anymore. It makes little sense to hold them accountable for something they have not done. If you apply this logic around for the opposite, it's easy to see how flawed this reasoning is. What if a person was a saint on the first timeline, and then on the second timeline, they were a half-crazed maniac who goes on about a killing spree? Do you still think they're a saint? Can you still forgive such wanton killing just because they were benevolent on the first timeline? Of course not.

The problem with your analogy is that it misses the reason why someone most often changes in these kinds of stories. If I stopped someone from assaulting another person does that mean the first person no longer had any intent to assault the other person? Conversely, just because I was prevented from stopping the assault does that mean I had any less intent to stop it? Iow, the person who caused the trauma from the first timeline is changing only because their victim changed and that is problematic at *best*. And it's way more common to defend characters like that than it is to hold them up to the same standards everyone else is held up to. And so far the emperor has done nothing to prove this is not the case with him. Yes even with the spoilers about Azuela's powers. It still doesn't explain to what extent the emperor and Lucas' minds were destroyed.

 

That's misrepresenting my point? Keyword: changed. Or rather, a different person. Obviously if you stop a person once it doesn't necessarily mean they'll become a changed man, but the point here was that they have not or have yet done anything of the sort they once did in the previous timeline, making them a different person. It's a question if a person that is evil would still be considered evil if he hasn't done anything to warrant being called evil in a parallel/different timeline/universe. That aside, have you seen any mention about the emperor wanting to neglect the MC a second time, hmm?

Wow, it's almost as if the point of happy endings in these kind of novels is to show the victims are no longer victims and the perpetrator is no longer abusive because they're no longer what they are in the former timeline! That, and no one else other than MC even knew what happened cause they don't have the same time travelling experience! I think, and I only think, it would be unfair to anyone if one suddenly comes up to you and say you're going to be crucified by the public court of opinion because you're a criminal in the future. Or perhaps you're getting cancelled because of something that has happened in a previous timeline that is no longer true because it's been totally *reversed*. Oh wait, something similar has already happened in the real world ain't it?
