It still bothers me why the author decided to randomly put a vending machine in a fantasy sword and sorcery vrmmo game.
Was that in the novel version too, I read both but only noticed it in the comic (or I only remember that part in the comic one because I Binge read it last week)
Because (my opinion): Why employ NPCs to sell things for you when you can have a machine sell things when you're away. P.S.: It is a VR game... Not a total other world...
Well I say why not have a vending machine. It may be swords and magic but people want ease of access for the things they want quick and easy so, vending machine is your answer the author came up with that gives all of that. Now it may not be the standard of whats around it but we haven't seen everything this world has to offer their may be more technological advanced cultures or maybe its tech derived from ancient tech or something like that.
Seeing how it's a VR game setting, where being AFK isn't really possible, using a vending machine as a vendor instead seems like a very suitable solution. I mean, you wouldn't just sit there for a few hours, waiting for people to buy your shit, would you?
Game creator didn't has enough space/memory to install busty onee-san or Bishie Onii-san to sell thing on a vendor or stall It might surpass tera to make a quite detailed one
it's a game~ back when I still play PW they use post mail a fricking mailbox!~ you must think about user from user POV when make a game you know~ well while make stall is good on traditional game since I can AFK for VR I can't stand waiting too long just waiting my good sell~ once a while is okay but always? nope I'm not that kind of player
You'd have like a pet or a portable NPC "stall" that you can set up, perhaps with a sign or something, which is basically the same thing, but more fitting for the setting?
But it was really out of the blue all of a sudden there is one random piece of technology. It never even mention how he got the vending machine. Does it have someone reincarnated into it?
beside the MC got carpentery skill right? so he likey made it from some wood's flanks... as how to make it? internet world is as big as galaxy bro
based on how story progress it show clearly that NPC is more likely maybe on future update? we talking about demon developer here~
:\ You literally set a person in game up to sell shit for you. People are going to be asking questions. Even if it is more thematic, if it doesn't make any logical sense, it's probably better to just use something that isn't thematic and just use a random excuse.
The games I play you can: 1- Used actionhouse to sell your items (WoW & FFXI) 2- Rent NPCs to sell your items (FFXIV) 3- Sell them yourself while going afk(FFXI)
If you know how it works you can build it in game, as evidenced by his bow, the system will just accept is as an otherworldly item. Oh and he had craftsmanship and blacksmithing for his inventing purposes.
In this VRMMO all NPC's have advanced AI, even the "pet" fairies had personalities and egos. So there would be no portable stalls to sell things from as the NPCs are basically just like the players. You also can not go off the honor system as the queen and the Dragon Princess show you that they can just take things off of the table if you are not looking. So why not have an autonomous vending machine.
I was talking in terms of a normal mmo. To make sense in the game, I guess the equivalent would be to hire an NPC for your stall. In a normal MMO you usually pay a high sum to buy the pet or player vendor as a one time purchase, but it's basically the same thing. There could also be like a commerce hall and you sort of sell your items through the NPCs and they take a small %. (Basically like the equivalent of an mmo auction house with buyout.)
