I've seen this around in novels. Characters would say, "I like dealing with smart people, it saves both time and energy."

    Is that true?

P.S. Personally, I agree a little but not too much. Smart people could get what you're trying to say sometimes but there are occasions when they overthink or just see things way differently than I do. It's like having a different wavelength. It's also like talking to a normie about Invisible dragon.

P.P.S. for the poll, just for say, 1 is low, 10 is high.

P.P.P.S. I am not sure if people could misunderstand the title but by "dealing with smart people" I meant interacting with them and not chopping their limbs to feed the sharks and disposing evidence of the cruel deed. In short, I'm not saying you're opposing the smart person, just dealing with them in general.

Dealing with smart people doesn't really save time and energy. It's dealing with people that know what they're doing and who understand how others work in what they do. It's called being direct.

I'm not sure mastery is the same as being direct but I see your point *Pat pat pat pat pat pats Arby.*

Great minds think alike, but fools seldom differ. I just convince myself I'm at the first category.

Because dealing with smart people who are working against you tends to require more effort to overcome them, right?

If you both know each other it's much easier to converse. I usually over think everything anyone says.

As for how intelligent I am, I don't know. If 5 is average I'm a 6 at best. Probably 6.

If you have a 100% chance of dealing with them and you can ... But if not ... you are not very smart

I pick the average number, we the commoner sometimes pick a bad choice despite not that stupid and sometimes later pick the best choice available without having a supercomputer in our brain. And maybe, did something silly like noms Skullie without thinking how and when we capture Skullie

It's not that I'm not smart, it's just that my brain is lazy o(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブ

i think it's rather a question of culture than intelligence, you could have very intelligent fellows but they are very prone to long discussions thus making lose a lot of time for no reasons.
also you may be very intelligent but socially inept, thus making you actually loss time for other people even though you are a smarty pants. so overall, it's a mix of cultural norm, emotional intelligence and intelligence in itself, but just, being considerate and having a good grasp of what you are really worth is what will make you gain the most time for everyone.

ever heard of collective intelligence ?

spoiler: they don't, but they do have better measuring tools than the IQ test which is way too old fashioned.
edit: no they have, i was just too lazy to check it right

I find being lazy a good thing sometimes, because it makes me choose the most efficient way of going through things. It also comes with a skill of ignoring things that takes too much effort for very little/unimportant results.

i think being lazy and procrastination is just our tendency to privilege short term benefits over long term, even though we know we are just increasing our workload (or leeching off of some else)
