What does necro mean on here?

Cough cough whenever I come across it I think of a certain creepy thing and I’m confused what that has to do with NUF? Is it done slang term you youngsters are using these days? Honestly confused

 

If you see it on a post thread, that means that someone has commented on a really old thread which hasn’t been commented on in a long time, which you aren’t exactly supposed to do. I’m not sure why.

 

No, it's not necrophilia. "Necro" here refers to commenting on a thread where the last post is more than three months old; in other words, trying to revive a dead thread.

I tot cuz we're now talking about necrophilia. Or something about dead,corpses or so on..

And why is resurrecting old threads bad anyway? I fail to see it.

Necro means dead. So usually we kinda refer to it as reviving something that has died. Mostly threads and whatnot. So it explains why there's necromancer(controller of dead bodies) or necrophilia(loving a dead body).

 

It's what i will do to this topic two years from now.

 

"Necromancy"/"necromancer" (this is a site with fantasy novels after all ) - pretty much self explained.
"to necro a post" - to "revive" a really old (read "dead") post.
"Necrophilia" - ........ I won't go into that...

These are the most common meanings (in NUF, at least).

 

What rebellious talk? I'm just asking some questions I genuinely want to know the answer too.
