I have read about 200 chapters of this novel. At first it was quite interesting to me that the mc learns magic and has to keep it a secret. That survival and hiding part was what that got me really interested in the novel but later on when he reached the magic school the plot just turned into dealing with small problems and researching magic.
My question is that does the mc become a researching mage or a combat mage. If he does not become a combat mage then please recommend me a novel where the mc is a one.
On the side note I really liked the author's other novel Lord of Mysteries and how much effort he puts in developing the plot and the personalities of characters.
Below is my complaining about the novels I am sick of reading. Just do not hate me.
(I have really gone tired of the novels where the are only arrogant young masters where one has plot armor while the other does not have it and the same old scenes where the mc easily defeats the people above his rank due to his heaven defying talent)
Also thanks to anyone who replies to give an answer or a suggestion.

ToMA is similar to LoTM in this aspect
So there are fight but that not a main focus (tbh there's barely any fights I remember from the novel but I read it year's ago)
Now the novel will focus mostly about the science and mystery

LoTM and ToMA have the Same author. MC is more of a research mage rather than a combative one. On the later parts of the story he'll get to fight enemies particularly the Church. Just because he's a research mage doesn't mean he's weak tho. In fact research is what makes a mage stronger.

ToMA is a world where a Mage's strength is relative to his understanding of the world. So Research = Cultivation. This novel is more chill, unlike your usual cultivation novels where the MC was never given a break. There are still some action every now and then, so if you're not a fan of Math, Theories, Postulates and other nerd stuff, it's likely that you won't enjoy the rest of the novel.
