Since people are making such threads. I decided to make one myself Bec warned in advance that I am very hard to please. I found Vinland Saga childish and dumb Turn offs Loli exceptions like Youjo Senki are fine Highschool setting Harem Tragedy Dumb protagonist Anime that are just long commercials eg Overlord BL/ Yaoi Rape Gore : Berserk is crap. I said it Tragedy. No point if the ending isn't positive. Real Life is a tragedy. I don't intend for fantasy to be the say Anime I have enjoyed that came out the past few years is Shoukoko no Altair https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altair:_A_Record_of_Battles I am a big fan of strategy I figured the opposite of my turn offs will suffice so I don't need a second list. I found god of high school highly disappointing. Mixing up with a Korean drama of the same name about a spy like MC didn't help. There is a recent anime about a demon hand high school student but I am not interested Impress me! @youseiki @Raneday @AliceShiki
I think Haibane Renmei might fit. I can’t remember whether the ending was tragic, but I don’t think it was. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.
Looks like an introspective Japanese story. I started avoiding them in live action since they end up as empty philosophical pieces with no answer or directions They simply raise questions just for the sake of it. They usually lack purpose
Vinland saga Kingdom That time i got reincarnated as a slime Tokyo revengers Alderamin On The Sky No game no life Bungo stray dogs Kakegurui Classroom of the elite
carole and tuesday, not best ever made but among the recent one in the past years it on the top of my list.
Agreed. @Wujigege , I guarantee you will love it. It is, in a word, perfect, as close to a Miyazaki for adults as you can imagine. Go watch it! It is introspective…however, it is awesome. Go watch it. They really don’t make great anime, with intelligent plots and interesting questions any more. Sigh… Witch Hunter Robin Serial Experiment Lain Planetes (awesome if you like space exploration) Rahxephon (it will grind you up and spit out the remains of your mind…truly awesome) Some of the more obscure Miyazaki And despite the massive fan service he got for his recent theatrical releases… The Children Who Hear Lost Voices and his earlier work is awesome. Makoto Shinkai did Voices of a Distant Star, which to me is one of my faves of all time. I know Your Name got a lot of press, and publicity, but watch it, it is awesome. The one about the girls going to Antarctica is good too.
Dunno if it's to your taste, but Zombieland Saga is an idol anime that has some comedy involved and a pretty weird setting with zombies idols and stuff. It's not a high school setting story, but most of the idols are around high school age, though some were middle schoolers and some were adults when they died. It's primarily a comedy show, but it has pretty good characters and nice developments... And well, great songs as you'd expect from an idol anime. There is also a sequel called Zombieland Saga Revenge~ Uhn... That's the only one I can think of rn. I think it doesn't fit into any of your turn-offs, but I dunno if it's anything you'd be interested in watching either.
Zombies fall under horror, not my cup of tea I know of it. I should have indicated clearly that gore isn't my taste. It's also a tragic story. Thanks anyway
Why thoo?? They got such a beautiful visual and fighting eftect By the way I recommend you Moriarty the Patriot, idk if it's count as gore, but honestly this is not really my cup of tea, i only watched half of it, many people recommend this one if you want to think when watching anime
Protagonist is dumb as a brick. Also fights solve everything stories feel too childish. I am too old for it
For current season, maybe: Tsukimichi (Ani-one on YT got it, but not available in some countries (including mine )) Realist Hero Seirei Gensouki
VPN is your friend Seirei Gensouki is a novel I read and dropped and want to get back but keep forgetting the name lol
with that list i almost find motivated to find the anime matching the most of you hate points highschool of the dead should be a 5 on that list ^^ would bleach be gore on your list? back to your wanted list : wouldnt that leave you open for mostly comedy stuff ? beelzebub wasnt bad and would just be a dumb mc tried Sei Juushi Bismark ? FLCL perhaps but it would be easier if you listed what you want to see seinen? action? parody? slice of life ? historical? fantasy? . . .
Odd Taxi - it has a nice ending... Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun - it's a decent adaptation (but I prefer the novel) it's actually a good anime about social dynamics, although I feel that this anime is for social awkward people, not for normies.
Errr... actually, just checked the YT again, it seems Ani One started to implement an "ultra membership" group that could only be acces by paying (+/-) USD 2 a month & Tsukimichi is part of it, sorry
