I’m not an architect but not sure how I feel not being able to see the walls. Can’t tell if it’s run down or a theme
In horror movies the slimy tentacle overgrowth wraps around the house. I am not much for plants closeup to my house, it screams insect nests to me.
that and these shits will dig into the walls until it looks like emmental (at the very least they will try)
I dunno, I get mixed feelings from this. While I agree that some vines on the house could look nice, this is a bit too much for me.
My whole family has a thing for rundown/overgrown houses so I find them really pretty. I especially like the red one.
This actually happened to our neighbours house they didn't properly made the wall so the veins just kept climbing till it had reach the 5th floor and started digging through their walls.
Buildings need to breath. Otherwise, moisture will deteriorate the facade and get inside the building, leading to potential mold and mildew. I would rather have the ivy climb treliises, trees, or another ornament. But it does look nice in an abstract sense.
Although pretty, seems like an open invitation to bugs and snakes and future leaks if not maintained properly. Kinda reminds me of that 'vertical forest' housing project in China, which was a disaster.
The roots will drill into the mortar. The roots will lift up and lead water under the shingles. The mass of vegetation will micro eco-system for a variety of bugs, fungus, and molds. And if this house is in a cold climate, the vines and roots will hold snow and ice, possibly leading to roof collapse.
It's pretty, but it looks like a pain to maintain. Not only do you have to make sure they don't dig into your walls, you also have to watch out for pests and routinely trim it so it doesn't cover your windows, doors, and chimneys..
It looks pretty as an idea. But the reality is, it would take a lot of time/manpower/money to maintain in such a way as to not depreciate the home. The flaws have already been mentioned. It does look well taken care of in the pictures, which means these people probably have a lot of money.
i don't mind if they grow on recints wall or something like that, but i don't want my house covered like that since it's dangerous in case of a fire or wall weakned because of the roots...
Imagine all the centipedes and spiders that live in that. They will eventually get into your home through cracks and other openings. Also at a certain point i imagine opening the windows gets inconvenient as well as having to cut that away from your external ac unit, chimney and other needed openings to prevent issues.
Would look better if they were made of candy and sweets and then two lost children come to visit, and then there would be an old witch inside waiting for them, something tells me it would be a good fairytale story for children
