I am going to make some new converts. @promet The whole point of multiple love interests is the catfights. Harem novels don't have that. Whats the point of a harem story if all the girls get along with each other? It is just so fake. I want schadenfreude. Case closed! Harem are crap @Paps And it's s rumor, I didn't pay my sister to call me oppa
While i like Harem, where the women get along with each other, does it bother me if they get along right of the Start. A few jabs, catfight and such (Nothing hard) gives the Harem members more personality and depth.
Harem novels are like toilet paper some are a good roll of it (the good stuff with multiple layers and a heavenly feeling), some of them are the school version of it (a lot of 1 layered girls but diverse) and some of them are just sheets of toilet paper (1 layered girls but copy pasted so you have 3 versions of them with different names and different hair colors)
catfight is good it rare there no catfight maybe there no catfight at later stage but in early stage there should one or two~ hogwash! either pay or bribery! spill it!
Nah, if you're looking for catfights then you'll find plenty in palace intrigue or harem intrigue stories. There are a million of these on TV and I'm sure you wouldn't have the slightest problem finding these kinds of books either.
Objection! Not every harem novels are crap you need to read some yandere harem novels, where every member of the harem want to kill each other, and kill the MC too we need more yandere novels
I am all for as the Chinese say, female love interests drowning in vinegar but I have no interest in crazy female characters. This is why Regression Instruction Manual is such a stupid novel. The novel claims that the protagonist is in charge of his own life but he is just at the whim of the yandere female lead. Yandere stories focus so much on yandere that they ignore the plot
All harem may not be crap but most harem novels are crap Either they entirely forget harem or they focus so much on the harem, they forget the plot P.S by most I mean 99%
Harem...is a very difficult genre to master. Most harem novels are trash, wrong, and treat women like expendable sexual items. It can be done. When I was reading Kimetsu no Yaiba, the diamond man with like 3 or 4 wives was very well done. The camaraderie between the wives was also nice. I stopped reading it tho and I read it years ago, so I don't remember much. Also if you read the manga, "A Brides Story" the sidestory of the two women who are wives of the same man and the friendship they have for each other is very touching. Anyway, I wouldn't read a novel whose sole purpose is to be a harem collecting kinda journey or one that doesn't have a limit on the women in the harem. Also, the women should be treated equally, and not get along right in the start. It doesn't have to be something dramatic, but I'd expect some tension or character arcs with them. In all honestly, seeing the dynamic between the women would be more interesting than the man...But anyway it has potential but very difficult to execute, master, and understand.
All harem may not be crap but most harem novels are crap Either they entirely forget harem or they focus so much on the all hail sound pillar Harem bois take notes
Harems would be a bit better if girls didn't magically get along and had a mystical need for +1 wife. Still it doesn't make a novel/fanfic crap, just worse than it could be. Since most novels/fanfics are crap, then what's worse than crap?
? I commented similarly to the two guys before me and stayed on topic. I don't know why you're singling me out but you can edit the thread to be Funny Comments Only or something if you don't want people adding their 2 cents.
Rong. The point in multiple love interests are the orgies. Two on one, three on one, four on one, and so on. Harem novels are BS. Main character has no balls, girls are subdued and shy, and nobody likes bukakke, and liking and biting. Already read more than 1000 chapters in ancient strengthening and no threesome, no foursome, and girls all are shy and modest in bed and who likes such vanilla posing as... whatever.
Reading the wrong harem novels! I always come back to the elf country court mage novel when it comes to harem... it has a lot of other problems, but boy does it capture the drama of each girl finding out she's not the only one and the adrenaline rush of the protagonist trying (and sometimes failing) to keep them from stabbing him or each other. Also the methods he uses to make up with them are often hilarious.
