    Unfortunately
There will be no revenge when Estelle realized that that wasn't the life that she wanted. So she decided to forgive Khalid and that made him more...a crazy yandere who will do anything just to make Estelle liked him. By the end of the novel, he became a wandering swordsman but still a crazy yandere. Only him who had stayed true of his nasty character.

Seriously? I might be able to tolerate him surviving in the end if he repent and start anew, but he's still nasty to the end? Now I wish he die.

He basically gave his blessings to Estelle and Jed at the end by not showing his face anymore and accepting that she was now happy with her husband. Seeing that, he left the country but still got that crazy vibes that no one will ever cross his heart again except his first love.

He realized that what he wished for Estelle was now granted by the goddess: to be happy and living a normal life.

Looks like I gotta wait to see until the end before making the final judgment. But at the moment, I still hate him.

There's a possibility that the manhwa ending will be altered. Although, judging from the recent chapters in the manhwa, it's closely following the contents in the novel.

    24. Tracking

Feeling a bit uncomfortable, Lucifella clenched her teeth.

When I looked back at the familiar and chilly feeling, I felt behind my back. I noticed that the top guys were glaring at each other and putting their hands on the handle of the sword hanging from their waist.

From then on, Lucifella had a sense that things went wrong.

It didn't matter that the top was a long-time customer and a famous top in Jansgar. It was her intuition, not that kind of knowledge, that brought her life back again and again.

    "Lady!"

Matsy was calling her from behind, but she didn't care. The knights were on their minds, but it wasn't up to them to survive. I couldn't give my life to the untrustworthy knights who depended on my survival.

Lucifella looked behind her. Her men were chasing her with her swords and screaming at her.

Knights and a maid who followed her were long dead.

These bastards weren't just robbers looking for jewels. What they were aiming for was her.

It should have been accompanied by several guards, too. Due to the reliability of the transaction, the knights were not to be brought in.

So is jewelry. It was hard to figure out what happened because she did not know about the gemstone, but it was incomprehensible for her to return from the village to the city with the gemstone when the number was inferior. Only she didn't let her guard down on them.

'I'm glad I didn't get on the wagon.'

Fortunately, she did not get into the carriage because she was uncomfortable with it. Had she been in her wagon, she would have been helplessly killed in the wagon or would have been kidnapped somewhere.

    "Lady, I'll drive the horse!"

Matsy shouted, but Lucifella didn't even pretend to hear. There's no way that Matsy would drive better than she does.

No matter how light Lucifella was, the horse's speed carrying the two people naturally slowed down. The hooves of horses driven by the pursuers were closing in.

What do we do? How should I do it? Then Lucifella saw the mountain on her left.

    What should I do?

The time for hesitation is short. Lucifella looked back.

It was all but one thing to die anyway. Those guys over there, aiming for Lucifella with swords, rather than the horse that might pass out, were much more threatening to her.

Lucifella hit the reins and drove the horse harder. As if the horse had guessed an emergency, it picked up speed again and headed into the mountains.

    "Lady, over there!"

Matsy's voice was heard, but she didn't have time to reply to him. Her concern was how to get away from them and preserve her own life.

She exquisitely drove her horse into a narrow path. Lucifella made sure there was a chaser behind her back. Perhaps it was because she had climbed the mountain where there were monsters without hesitation, and the chasers could not be seen.

Lucifella clenched the reins with her skillful dexterity and got off the horse. It took quite a while to get off the horse because it came into a dense area of trees. She said, kicking the horse down the mountain.

"They'll be waiting down the mountain. You know that, don't you?"

    "...."

Matsy expressed his agreement by being silent.

I was sick everywhere because I was driving horses. But if you fall here, you die.

It was knowing that she could stand on superhuman strength. If she hadn't trained for a few days, she might have collapsed and died soon.

    "Are you all right?"

    "No."

Lucifella fiddled with the scratch on her face.

"Shall we find a place to hide?"

"It's best to do that first, but if you just hide, there's a good chance you'll be discovered. There's no sign of people coming in, so all the traces of our walk will be left behind."

    "....."

"Because of the monsters, these guys are hesitant for a while. They're not looking for gems. They're looking for me."

    "Oh, did you know that?"

"If it was a jewel robber, they would have just gone with the jewels. However, you see them chasing me. I am the one they are looking for. And disguised as a large top means that they have thoroughly prepared. It's not just a jewel bandit's job."

What Lucifella said was absolutely correct. In fact, Lucifella's attitude was unusual. The cowardly Lady that people commonly think of was too hard-headed to analyze.

But Matsy couldn't afford to have doubts about the situation.

    "Then how...."

Even he was delaying judgment on this Lady who knew nothing. He would have bitten his tongue only later, but he was also embarrassed and new to this situation.

"Even if we crossed that mountain, there is a river flowing over there, so it's a situation where we're only going through hardships and have no way out.…"

"...If we hold on, wouldn't it be okay? If we do not return, the knights will come."

"This has never happened before, will the knights move quickly?"

    Matsy's face hardened.

The knights were all immersed in peace. Is it possible for them to sense danger and come?

It was hard to think that the knights would come quickly at a time when every minute was urgent.

"I have no choice but to run away from time to time. From both monsters and humans. To stay alive."

Then, I heard men talking threateningly. Lucifella put her index finger to her mouth. The pursuers were coming near.

In the dark mountains, neither Lucifella nor those intruders know the geography. It's just that they were overly arrogant, and what they overlooked was that there was Estelle in Lucifella.

    "Well, let's play hide-and-seek again."

    Lucifella smiled.

    ***

    "They're a little late."

One of the knights said. I left town for a deal, but the expected return time was being delayed. I didn't know what would happen.

"Would it have been better to follow along?"

The knight, who was grooming the sword, replied to the blonde knight.

"Sir Matsy told me to reduce the escort to a minimum."

To increase the number of knights that a long-time trading partner, it will be rude for the partner. As it was an important transaction with the top, we had to pay attention to one of these points, so there were only five knights.

However, it was also true that he wondered if he could have been a little more greedy for the young Lady's safety.

The Lady didn't say anything, and Wayne, the general manager, didn't come, so he stayed still, but he thought it would be better if he did.

"Hey, what's the big deal? It's just a Lady interfering."

    "I guess so."

As Matsy predicted, they were not aware of the emergency. What happens if you go to the village because you're worried? It could ruin a deal. Or the fear of being reprimanded later could not be ignored.

    It was then.

    "S, Sir!"

    "What's going on?"

It was Yamin, the butler, who ran into the knights' break room. Wayne still wondered what had happened with that face of astonishment, and he got up from his seat as if jumping.

Without the Count and Matsy, the castle owners, naturally Gwain and Yamin had to manage the castle.

And if this Yamin is so proud of it, then something big must have happened.

    "Vi, visitors, visitors have come."

"Visiting? Haha! Is the Emperor here? It's always like that."

If so, it would be a real surprise. Despite Gwain's silly jokes, Yamin shook his head with a severe look without laughing.

    "Not Your Majesty."

"Your Majesty or someone. Who the hell visited?"

Yamin took a deep breath and barely opened his mouth.

"Your Excellency, Duke of Heint. The Duke of Heint is here!"

    "What?"

The faces of the knights all changed.

Duke of Heint, Jedder Kyre Heint! Black Death on the battlefield!

Unlike the people in the capital, where you can see Jed in person, the local knights have always only heard of Jedder Kyre Heint through stories, so to these simple local knights, Jed was almost like a god of war.

They hurriedly got up from their seats and checked their clothes. It was because he didn't want to show his poor side to him as a knight among the knights.

All the knights ran out to where the Duke of Heint was. It was a great opportunity to see him.

As they went out of the building, the Duke of Heint was entering the castle on horseback with a number of knights.

    His appearance exceeded their expectations.

A huge black horse with shiny hair. The man with a strong body riding on that black horse was quite handsome.

The bronze hair glistening in the sun was clearly a subtle color, and the reddish-brown eyes were sharp as if they were cutting people with their eyes.

When the knights were seen, Duke Heint stopped talking.

Gwayne approached Jedder Kyre, almost in shock. Obviously, the Kyre Heint was only twenty-seven when he was young, but somehow he had a unique sense of intimidation that kept people at bay.

After getting off the horse, Duke Heint looked around and said something.

    "What about Young Lady?"

    "Yes?"

That Wayne realized he had the stupidest answer he had. The answer to 'Yes?' was something a knight shouldn't say no matter how lax the discipline, because it looks inferior.

How pathetic it would be to have a knight repeat 'Yes?' when the Lord commands something.

Then Duke Heint asked with a pathetic look.

"I'm talking about the Young Lady of Aydin."

    "Ah yes!"

Come to think of it, the Duke of Heint was the young Lady's fiancée. He seemed to have come here to meet his fiancée.

"She went to town to make a deal with the top."

    "When?"

    "It's been a while."

    "When they are coming back?"

    "It's usually about one o'clock."

    "What time is it now?"

    "It's 2:30."

The Duke of Heint sighed and looked at Gwain.

"How many did the knight follow?"

    "Five..."

"Even though Yeong Lady goes directly, there are only five escorts?"

When asked with an absurd expression, they looked at each other's faces and barely answered.

"Yeah, but that's for a deal..."

"What are they doing, even though it's past time to come back? Isn't there a knight presence to protect their Lord from danger?"

    "...."

Then they had nothing to say because everything Jed said was right.

    "That's terrible."

The knights froze as if shocked by Jed's words. Then they remembered their Lady.

When the Young Lady first visited the training ground, she looked at them with the same expression as Jed.

Is it that pathetic? Knights read each other's countenance.

Jed looked at Gwain and said.

    "Come on, guide me."

The Duke's eyes glowed dangerously. Gwain knew something was going on in an unusual.

    ***

Lucifella and Matsy muffled the sound of footsteps as they moved through the mountains.

I was fortunate to insist on comfortable shoes because high-heeled shoes were not good. Otherwise, I would have to walk barefoot on this mountain.

    "Isn't there a monster? Why can't I see it?"

    "That's..."

Matty muffled his words with an unsure expression on his face.

    "Maybe there are no monsters."

    "What do you mean?"

"At least, it's said that you can rest assured about monsters. Please don't ask anymore."

Lucifella didn't quite understand what he was saying. What do you mean there's no monster? Matsy was speaking in a fairly convincing tone.

Is it a lie that there was a monster? Lucifella tilted her head. She thinks this part is a matter for further consideration once she survives.

Lucifella walked with her body lowered, grabbing a needlessly voluminous skirt. She retained her sense of accustomed to mountain climbing, but her easily falling stamina was a problem. She was already feeling tired.

"Sir Matsy, you're not very familiar with this mountain, are you?"

"I'm afraid so. It's been a while since this place was closed due to the presence of monsters."

"It seems that rumors about the existence of monsters were deliberately spread."

    "That's right."

Seeing Matsy's momentum, it didn't seem like he would give me an answer even if I asked more. Since they had to lower their voices, the two of them searched for a place to hide without saying a word.

However, the problem was that they were new and could not reverse the flow of accidents. What this side thinks is what that side thinks. If you overlook that basic idea, you won't be able to cut the bones.

"Hey, I'm the only one who can pass."

The trees were so narrow that it was cramped for a man, Matsy.

"Let's turn around and find another place."

    "Lady."

At Lucifella's words, Matsy looked at her reproachfully. I knew what Matsy wanted, but Lucifella didn't want to do it.

    "It's an order. Follow me."

"I'll catch up with you later. So……."

It was when such a minor scuffle was taking place between them.

A man appeared in front of Lucidella and Matsy. He shouted without any time to spare.

    "Here it is!"

At the same time, the bird sitting on the tree fluttered and flew up.

Matsy quickly pushed Lucifella through the narrow trees, leaving him behind.

    "Lady, run away!"

    "What?"

    "Hurry!"

    "...."

Lucifella opened her eyes wide. What kind of crazy case is this? What she's had to experience now, even when she's Estelle.

I didn't like this, this... As she desperately shook her head, Matsy shouted sternly.

"Come on! How can the Count live without you? It's all my fault for being relieved. I'll take the responsibility!"

Lucifella bit her lips. It is not that this has not been the case. I know very well that it can't be helped. Still, now she's powerless and resentful that she has to abide by it.

    Lucifella knew this was inevitable.

    "I won't forget you."

All Lucifella could do in the end was say she would not forget.

With a troubled look on her face, Lucifella squeezed through the trees. When I went inside, I noticed a larger space. The branches overlapped and looked like a cave.

Staring at the sunlight leaking through the cracks, she took a step outside the wooden burrow.

I could hear the shouts of men and the sound of something falling down.

    Lucifella bit her lips.

Damn, if only I had a sword! At least if she had force, she wouldn't be this helpless.

    "Why the hell?"

I know it's no use screaming. Nevertheless, I couldn't stand the injustice. The resentment for what she had lost was bursting out again.

It was time for Lucifella to walk out of the dusky tree vines and barely see the exit.

Suddenly, hands pinched through the trees and pulled Lucifella's long hair. Lucifella had to be dragged out without hesitation.

    "Finally caught."

One of her pursuers smiled roundly, tied her arms, and dragged Lucifella among the men.

Lucifella grinds her teeth. He seemed to have been waiting for her at the exit when she saw a cave-like place.

She sighed and looked at the men. All the men were carrying swords. It seemed difficult to use the dagger hidden in the sleeve.

    "They're so persistent."

As Lucifella lifted her lips and said, the man standing in the middle pretending to be the janitor at the top.

"The young lady didn't know how to give up."

Lucifella sighed afterward. I was going to ask her about Matsy, but she knew better that she had no prospects.

"What are you trying to do to me?"

"I have no intention of killing you. Don't worry."

    "...."

The man spoke softly, but it didn't help Lucifella at all.

He stuck out his tongue and licked his lips, and looked over Lucifella's body with a snake-like gaze. Lucifella wanted to cut the eye out with a sword.

"They told me not to touch her, but I'll let them vent their anger. You've ruined my plan."

Lucifella kept fiddling with the dagger in her sleeve. This seems to be the only way now. It was then.

    Kwaaang!

The ground shook with the sound of a child's cry. In this quiet mountain where there are no people, the eerie sound of a child's cry made people's bones faint.

Licufella and the men also looked around with bewildered expressions. Lucifella knew this sound. The sound of a newborn baby in the mountains. Man, that was also a higher-level monster, Lynx.

    'Damn, there are no monsters!'

The first thing Lucifella did, swearing into herself, was to lift the dagger and stab the arm of a man who tied her up.

The man screamed and tried to strike back at her but was immediately overwhelmed by a giant shadow appearing in the dark and stuck.

Lucifella quickly searched for the fastest way she could, a long pile of dark green grass.

That's the only way to survive here. Within a few steps, she was able to spot a huge pile of bushes without difficulty. She jumped into it without hesitation.

    "Argh! Argh!"

    "Oh, my God!"

There was a gruesome sound of cracking bones and flesh.

    Kwaang! Aargh! Aaaaaargh!

    "Sa, save me!"

    "Aaaaahhh!"

There were men fleeing toward her, but a foot the size of Lucifella's head flew in. A sharp toenail stabbed the man in the back. The man who was penetrated through the chest was torn down. She tried hard to shut her mouth not to make a sound at it.

    Kaeong! Kaeong! Kaeoooooong!

Lynx made a distinctive cry when attacking people. Following the voices of the people who were screaming at the father, other voices were also heard.

    Crack, crack, crack.

Lucifella closed her eyes tightly to the sound of a monster swallowing the bones and covered her ears to block herself from the desperate screams.

    "Argh! AAhhhh!"

I heard someone running away to see if there were survivors. Lynx turned to him and chased the human being. As Lynx's tail slowly veered away from view with a pointed hook, Lucifella breathed a sigh of relief.

My heart was pounding. My heart was still beating fast at the scene of a vain death I saw for the first time in a while.

She tried to calm herself down.

The outside, visible through the bushes, was full of blood and flesh. What should I do? Do we have to leave now? Someone took Lucifella's hand as she tried to get out.

Lucifella was startled by this and tried to grab her dagger. But the dagger was dropped and was missed.

    "Young Lady, it's me."

    "...?"

Suddenly, the familiar voice gave me goosebumps. As soon as Lucifella looked back and opened her mouth, his palms immediately closed her mouth.

    "Shh, be quiet."

Lucifella looked back and saw a familiar face. Purple eyes held a serious light. It was Khalid.

    25. Unwanted Allies

Lucifella was horrified when she felt his chest right behind her head. The anger that had been forgotten came rushing in. It was almost as if she was being held captive.

"If you go out and move now, Lynx might notice."

    "...."

Why is the dagger not in her hand? Lucifella couldn't stand it because she regretted it so much.

She was well aware that that does not mean she has a chance to kill Khalid. Nevertheless, I couldn't stand the fact that I had to stay still like this. I didn't care about the existence of the monster already.

"I hope you remember me. It's Khalid Louirk."

    "...."

Wouldn't it be better to scream and both die?

Lucifella tried to open her mouth, but Khalid's strength in closing her mouth grew stronger.

"If you scream now, both of us die."

    "...."

I can't even struggle. Lucifella tried to regain her sense with her power.

Dog death, yes, the sacrifice of Matsy and others is dog death. In this way, no true revenge will be given to Khalid. I can't let you die in this stupid way.

At that thought, when Lucifella's fast breathing and strength in her body were drained, Khalid also relaxed his hands.

    "I'm not screaming."

Lucifella nodded at Khalid's confirming tone. Slowly the hand came off, and Lucifella could breathe.

Shortly after that, Lynx returned to this place. Its mouth already had a man who appeared to be a victim in his mouth. He shook the man's head around. She closed her eyes tightly at the cruel sight.

After chewing and eating everything, Lynx started sniffing around.

It's to find out if someone is hiding. Lucifella was aghast. As she ran away earlier, she had cut off the arm of a man she had defeated with a dagger, so the smell of her blood was on it.

Sniffing, the whole body of the monster could be seen. His pointed ears, sharp fangs protruding under his mouth, were dripping with blood and saliva.

His big yellow eyes were rolling around. Lynx's hooked tail pounded the ground incessantly.

Lucifella uttered abusive language. You said you deliberately spread rumors about the monster, but monsters really inhabited it.

Indeed, there has been no law for many years that there should be no monster where humans did not enter.

    Kuaaang!

Lynx wagged his tail with a piercing scream and approached the bushes where Lucifella and Khalid were hiding.

Lucifella and Khalid held their breath. Lynx approached and sniffed at the bushes. Lynx's nose stayed right above Lucifella for a long time.

She wondered if Lynx would open his mouth and cut her waist in half. Then I sneezed, saying, "Haachu!" He raised his head in displeasure and looked down at the bushes. He didn't seem to be attacking any more.

As Lucifella intended, the bush they were hiding in had a unique scent that Lynx hated the most. It was a fact that most people did not know because it was passed on to the forest travelers or the knights dealing with the village.

Lynx looked at the bush dissatisfied, turned, and disappeared.

    "Sigh."

Lucifella and Khalid very carefully loosened their stiff bodies.

    "They've noticed us."

    "I know."

Lucifella said with a grimace. There was no sense of honorifics to Khalid because of the situation.

If this mountain is ruled by other monsters, Lucifella and Khalid cannot safely descend to the mountain. With their unique sense of smell, Lynx will come after them.

"I'll start by thinking about what that smart monster will do with this bush."

She nodded her head unconsciously. Due to the nature of Lynx, who loves to roll stones like balls, he may move around rocks to his tail and throw them over here, or he may kill himself hiding in the bushes by throwing huge trees. There was a way to wait, but Lynx was impatient and hated such a time fight.

"I think it's going to be okay now. Let's get out."

Noticing the disappearance of Lynx's presence, Khalid looked towards Lucifella. Lucifella nodded her head politely.

Then, as if promised, they left the bush and walked to the opposite side of where Lynx had disappeared.

    "・・・It's really weird."

These were the words Jed uttered as he saw the horror unfolding in front of him.

The workers who carried them had their heads cut off, and the gemstones were scattered. Did jewel robbers attack them?

No, is there any reason to make it so complicated? If there was a difference in force, it would have been better to just take the raw stone. It was even more so because raw stones that have not yet been crafted are easier to sell.

    "Wha, what is this!"

Gwain and the knights' faces turned pale. It was after all the knights who had been escorted were exterminated. They didn't even seem to have resisted properly.

"They're terrible knights, so it's like this."

Jed said relentlessly. Then, he looked at the body with a stiff face and looked at the path where the horse footprints were stamped.

Judging by the deep and dark prints of the horse's footprints, it was clear that the person who drove the horse was quite urgent. Zed's eyes gleamed coldly.

'Even though I'm like this, the Crown Prince cub concocted such a thing.'

    He gritted his teeth.

Before he left to subdue the demons, he was called by Eozif. Still in his hand was a book with a horrific title, 'The Violet Blooms in the Knights Training Grounds.'

"Isn't that weird? Where did the Duke of Louirk go, and even before His Majesty issued a prohibition order, the Crown Prince was busy harassing the dark-haired woman."

    "It's not weird."

"Think a little more about your persistence, Jed. What happened between you and Young Lady Aydin? You know it too. The only thing why he bothered a girl with black hair was aimed at Young Lady Aydin."

    "...."

Jed didn't say anything. Because he already had it in mind, too.

"No way you're that stupid. How does the Crown Prince touch Young Lady?"

"Actually, he looks smart only on the outside, he's too stupid. If only he was really smart..."

    "...."

"You must have killed me first."

Eozif had a pouty smile on his mouth. And there's nothing more convincing than that.

"I found the whereabouts of Duke Louis. Looks like he stayed in one of the towns to Count Aydin. Do you understand what's going on now, Jed?"

Jed immediately got up from his seat. Don't tell me, don't tell me.

No, actually, it doesn't matter if Count Aydin is in danger. Don't tell me, should the Crown Prince really kill Young Lady?

But he was well aware of how imprudent the Crown Prince could sometimes behave. Didn't you do that to the present empress? He could have done that!

I didn't know why I was so nervous. Lucifella somehow lingered in his head while the horse was running.

Do I feel love for this woman? That's not it. I just didn't like it. This is what you have to do because you said you'll clean up. He kept repeating that and hurried along the way.

Although he was ashamed, even if he didn't see himself easily, he didn't know he would do something like this. He didn't intend to deal with low-quality provocations one by one, and he was willing to put up with it for future work. But how dare a cub called the Crown Prince to touch his fiancée?

He remembered Khalid's face and grinded his teeth.

You bastard with no honor as a knight, accepting the Crown Prince's orders to harm the Lady? It was truly a dog-like act of the Imperial Palace.

Chewing on his disgust and anger, he headed to the estate. Jed calmed down for a moment in the peaceful landscape of the capital Connott. I thought Lucifella would ask why she came with her unique expression. But this is what the result was.

The fearsome energy that he was scattering shook Duke Heint's knights and Count Aydin's knights.

    Something was about to happen.

After chasing the horseshoes for a while, Jed realized that they all pointed to the entrance to the mountain. Of the two twin mountains in the Count of Aydin, it was the one on the left where monsters were said to appear.

"This is where the monster comes out."

Despite the sound of the monster, Jed was looking at the mountain. Count Aydin's knights exchanged anxious glances at it.

He looked at the horses at the entrance of the mountain. It seems that the pursuers also let their horses loose here and followed Lucifella.

Without hesitation, he got off his horse and climbed the mountain. A cool sword was still flashing in his hand.

He didn't even have an order to follow him, but the knights of the Duke of Heint followed him as if for granted.

Gwain and the knights, who had noticed him, also began to follow him.

The sun was about to set, and the red sunset hung over the mountain, and the knights rolled their eyes nervously, feeling the gloomy atmosphere of the hill.

The sound of military boots invaded the deserted mountain and left footprints. While climbing the hill, he found a figure.

    "Matsy!"

He was leaning against a tree. At a glance, he could see the whites in his half-closed eyes, and it looked like he wasn't in good shape.

    Jed asked.

    "Who is it?"

"I'm the custodian of the estate."

Jed walked and checked his appearance. Matsy was breathing weakly. Judging from the figure on the stomach, it seemed to have been stabbed in the abdomen.

Zed blinked, and Bernard gave him a pill. When he gave him the medicine containing the priest's protection, warmth returned to his body. Then he looked around him as if he had regained consciousness and opened his mouth.

    "Oh, my Lady. My Lady...!"

    "Where's Young Lady?"

Matsy moved his hard tongue in response to Jed's question.

"You went over there, over there, over there. Miss... Please, little Lady, please!"

Jed looked up at the sky. The sun looked like it was going to set soon. You must find it before that. The wind was blowing hard. Maybe because of my mood, I could smell the blood.

    ***

"It looks like you're being chased."

Khalid said. Lucifella agreed with that. The cry of a baby could be heard faintly in the distance.

    "I know."

    Lucifella replied.

    "Now, you're polite to me."

    "Courtesy?"

"Aren't you talking very briefly from a while ago?"

At those words, Lucifella felt her heart sink. Come to think of it, she was using a comfortable tone for Khalid. Khalid seemed offended by that tone. Lucifella felt displeased with her bizarre gloom.

"I guess the person who barely saved his life needed that much formality? I think he was more formal than I thought. I thought he was a knight here because he was not formal."

The pretense of favor on Khalid's face disappeared at Lucifella's spouting contempt. He frowned openly at her.

"If you know who's saving your life right now, you'd be wiser to keep your mouth shut."

"I should give thanks to the Crown Prince. Wasn't His Majesty the Crown Prince who put me in this damn situation?"

At those words, Khalid's cold gaze turned to Lucifella. Lucifella wasn't afraid of him at all.

"Didn't you ever wonder why I didn't ask you why you were here? Oh, did you handle the bar again? It's obviously the work of the Crown Prince, but there's no doubt that it's the Crown Prince's dog."

Lucifella said with a grin. I heard it from Matsy, so I knew it. She could see roughly how Khalid Gabline became Khalid Louirk, if not detailed.

He was called the dog of the Jansgar palace, but he was exactly the dog of the Crown Prince. The man who took on all kinds of dirty work to enjoy the wealth and glory promised by the Crown Prince, who later became emperor, was his close friend, Iza.

"You're here to clean up the mess, aren't you? It must be very convenient for you since the monster took care of it instead. No, is it a waste of your work to be taken away by a monster?"

    She said coldly.

"I think you'd better cover up your words."

At the voice of the low warning, Lucifella opened her mouth.

"You don't mean to deny it, do you? You're having a hard time kidnapping a woman. The honor of the knight Ersha is so terrible.... ugh!"

Lucifella frowned at the feeling of twisting her neck. Khalid was looking at her face, grabbing her by the collar.

"I didn't know that the honor of a knight would come out of a Lady's mouth."

A cool voice that she had never heard before seemed to knock her head. Khalid's eyes were shining threateningly. When she found the murderous intent in her eyes, Lucifella closed her mouth.

"I mean, you're not going to say anything rude."

Khalid will kill her if she does. She flinched as she looked at his darkly sunken eyes.

A danger signal spread through Lucifella's head. She was being overly vigilant. I didn't think Khalid would kill Lucifella.

She felt helpless and mortified at the sight of the hand gripping her by the collar. She couldn't do anything to be subjected to this kind of thing.

How can it be so unreasonable to be killed by that bastard again?

Besides, why did Lucifella believe Khalid wouldn't kill her again. She gritted her teeth and said.

"Hold on to someone weaker than you, isn't it fun? Why don't you kill me? Did the Crown Prince tell you to leave my body intact?"

The clenching hand squeezed her neck even harder. I couldn't admit I was afraid of him for a moment.

    Her eyes glared at Khalid.

Khalid, who was looking at her coldly, glanced at her eyes. Suddenly the strength of the strangling force weakened. Then his hand slipped down Lucifella's neck.

When she was able to breathe, Lucifella coughed. The vision was blurred, and tears flowed from the eyes as a reflex.

    "You scumbag."

When Lucifella, who coughed up and barely picked up a breath, chewed it out, Khalid's eyes cooled down again.

Estelle thought Khalid's eyes were always warm purple. But I never knew that his eyes could have such a cold glow.

"Shut up before you throw it to Lynx."

"You've got that much time to talk? I think it's the same thing that's thrown at Lynx."

    Lucifella said, strangling herself.

Anger, along with a strange sense of betrayal, did not let her go over and over again. I can't believe he was that crap. The way he always smiled at Estelle was also an illusion.

    I felt nauseous.

Lucifella walked away, leaving Khalid behind. It didn't matter if Khalid followed or not. It was too much for Khalid to kill Lynx by himself anyway. Estelle would know if she made a joint attack with her. It was the same for both of them to die when held by a monster. I didn't want to be dragged around by that son of a bitch because he was going to die anyway.

    It was then.

    Ueeeeeeng!

The gruesome cry of Lynx resonated again.

Lucifella and Khalid looked up at the same time. On a stone cliff, Lynx was crying at them.

When are you here! I thought you'd come after me, but I didn't expect you to catch up so quickly. Fortunately, the cliff is a high place to jump. There was still time before he came down. Lucifella and Khalid ran at the same time without giving or taking any signals.

A flat land without trees stood out. Without hesitation, they hid behind the trees that covered the plain.

Flowers were blooming on the plains. Lucifella and Khalid saw it and hid behind a tree because the scent of flowers will temporarily paralyze Lynx's sense of smell.

Moreover, the flower field was flat, so he could freely attack by swinging his sword. Lynx's abnormal movements living in the mountains were also simplified when going to the flats, so it was easy to understand the movement.

The moment they were nervous, Lynx appeared not long after.

    Aeoooong!

Lynx ran at a sharp speed with an angry cry.

Lucifella looked at her hand. There was still blood on my face from running away. There was a high probability of being caught as before. It's over now.

Lucifella closed her eyes and opened them slowly, looking towards Khalid. Khalid, too, focused on the presence of Lynx approaching behind her back and looked at Lucifella.

Their eyes met each other. Lucifella unwittingly glanced at Lynx, then pointed to herself, and then pointed to Lynx.

Anyway, this place is flat. There was no better place to swing a sword than this. If so, you'd be better off being the bait. She becomes the bait, and she slaps Lynx on the neck.

Actually, this was a pincer attack that two swordsmen had to accomplish, but it can't be helped. Cause she's powerless. In fact, even standing like this is a miracle.

Lucifella pointed to Lynx with her thumb and pretended to slit her neck.

'I'll lure it in, you hit that guy on the back of the neck.'

In summary, what she sent a while ago was such a hand signal.

As he looked at Khalid as if to confirm, Khalid nodded. Then he looked at Lucifella with a look of surprise as if he had realized something. But it was already after Lucifella ran out.

Running to the flat of the flower bed, Lucifella saw Lynx running toward her.

It was definitely over that tree, and it was so fast that it came close.

Gleaming fangs caught her eye. Her claws fell straight down on her.

Luckily, she managed to avoid his claws. Instead, she had to roll.

Then she saw Khalid. Where and what the hell are you doingㆍㆍㆍ.

Khalid was not where Khalid was standing. Don't tell me, you're left with me as the bait?

Lucifella was stunned for a moment. What the hell did you believe in that short moment that you ordered Khalid to attack? To that traitor! It was the moment she regretted.

    Kwaang!

A sword came out through Lynx's neck. Lucifella opened her eyes wide. It was the sword that Khalid threw away.

This bastard is stupid now! How to get a weapon! It was time to avoid Lynx, who struggled with her own wounds. All of a sudden, the tail was swayed to her.

Ugh! This is at least a gut rupture!

This is how you die. As she closed her eyes tightly, someone hugged her and threw herself to the ground.

There was a sound of hissing and tearing the flesh apart. She and the person had to roll over because they were so powerful. Lucifella saw the man who saved her.

Khalid saved her. There was a scar on his back that passed by a sharp-tailed hook.

    "Khalid!"

    Lucifella shouted unknowingly.

^ I should have seen it coming that those people were sent by Crown Prince but I didn't. All I thought was that they were just a bandit.

I kinda disliked that it was the imperial dog who saved her, and not her fiance. Why is the ML always one step behind the Imperial Dog in almost everything.

So knowing the fact that it was Crown Prince sent to capture her, how would MC and ML react now?

Thank you for the spoilers @amaryllis0 ! :aww:

ch 25 is really… tense. I wonder if Khalid started to get suspicious of MC from that point onward, since MC showed hand gesture which is familiar in group combating :hmm:

    26. Why I Didn't Kill

"That guy must have run away!"

One of the knights said abusive language.

At the same time, the firm tentacles of the beast rushed at them.

    "He didn't run away!"

Estelle swung a sword and cut off the tentacles. At the same time, its red blood-soaked Estelle's gray hair.

An indescribable odor filled the tip of my nose.

It happened when Estelle was an apprentice. Demons have been attacking on a large scale, and the king dispatched knights from the royal family.

It was no wonder that the Duke of Gabline family, famous for his sword, and Estelle, raised by Duke Gabline, who was not a formal knight, were dispatched to protecting the country.

But there was one thing that the knights overlooked. The number of goods was dozens of times higher than their number.

    Cities and villages were destroyed.

Time was too tight to ask for support to the royal family, and the mayor of the city, which is located over a mountain, had already refused to do so.

The knights who could not get any aid and had been surrounded by demons.

There was only one conclusion for them, to pick up a sword and fight to the end, and then become a star to protect the country and being embraced by the goddess.

Estelle was one of them. However, Khalid was not at the party. When demons occupied the village they stayed in, Khalid suddenly disappeared.

Everyone blamed Khalid. But Estelle thought he had his own circumstances.

It was always later that he convinced the situation, and Khalid used to do it as if he were testing people.

For example, he may have left his favorite sword to be repaired and then abandoned, or he might sit on the sidelines of the bullying he had been subjected to, but then he might punish them brutally in the scenes.

"Is that what you're saying right now? Get a hold of yourself, Estelle!"

    "....No!"

    "Khalid ran away!"

At that time, a knight who had not seen a tentacle penetrated the stomach.

The knight died, throwing red blood out of his mouth. Thirty knights and a hundred soldiers were dispatched, but only ten of them were left.

The situation was absolutely devastating. Still, it was the stupidest thing in the world to believe in Khalid.

She knows because she's been through the back alleys too. How common is the betrayal of people, especially when 'money' or 'life' is involved, people can be mean.

Can you really trust Khalid? Anxiety in my mind began to wriggle.

"Darn it, Estelle, come here! Come on!"

One of the knights pulled Estelle back. It was the last consideration to save her as a young woman.

    "No special treatment!"

Estelle shrieked and amusedly fixed her sword. However, the number of demons was still significant.

"Khalid, you son of a bitch!"

You're the one who made me suspicious!

At a time when it may be the last, where is he! Estelle flashed her sword with anger.

The demonic monsters were divided into two sides. There's no way he betrayed me. There's no way he betrayed me. He couldn't have betrayed me!

But how can you not doubt it?

She's dying like this, but Khalid isn't here. Either it's not a betrayal.

At that time, I heard a whistle. Estelle looked up at the familiar sound.

On a cliff right above them, Khalid sat down and looked down at them. Standing with his back to the sun, he was like a hero from a myth.

Estelle was stunned for a moment at sight. Out of reach of each other's voices, Khalid smiled and lowered his index finger.

    'Look down.'

    It was his hand signal.

    "Bend down!"

Estelle shouted and bent down. At the same time, arrows poured down.

Sharp arrows pouring down like rain began to penetrate the creatures that had been showing their teeth while holding a victory flag.

The arrow rain poured down for a long time until the demons are wiped out.

When the slaughter was over, and he looked up, she saw Khalid running towards her on horseback.

Khalid's gaze was fixed on Estelle. After checking Estelle's physical condition, he sighed in relief and smiled broadly.

Estelle looked at Khalid's face with her eyes wide open.

Does he know? She didn't trust him perfectly until the last minute. He tried so hard on his own, and she eventually blamed him.

Khalid said, sweeping Estelle's cheek wound.

"You've got a little hurt in the face. Sorry, I couldn't tell you my plan at the time because I was so busy. I overheard that there was a ruined bridge across the river. Cross the street and, lastly, Reinforcement... Estelle!"

Estelle hugged him by the neck.

    "Estelle."

Khalid's voice seemed to be bewildered.

    "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Khalid."

    "....?"

    "I'm sorry I didn't trust you for a while. I'm so sorry."

    "....."

Khalid didn't say anything for a moment. His face, which she thought would be angry when he looked up, had the same bright smile as before.

"Oh, my God, you didn't trust me again? How can I get you to trust me?"

    "Khalid."

"Um, should I swear to the priest, too? If I take five of the priest's seals and show them, will you believe me too? Ah, Estelle. I am so pitiful to be distrusted by my one and only friend like this."

"Hey, you're responsible for that, too."

Estelle was enraged by Khalid's sneaky remarks. Then Estelle's expression was distorted again.

It was because his face, which had become as messed up as Estelle, was visible. I'm sure this guy was desperate, too.

Estelle raised her hand and carefully swept Khalid's cheek.

"It's okay, Estelle. It's fun to see that guilty face all the time. Well, it all worked out in the end, didn't it?"

"Hey, do you think my face is funny?"

As Estelle growled, Khalid patted Estelle's head and said,

"Isn't that obvious? Estelle, I find your face the most interesting in the world."

"I told you not to treat me like a fool!"

Khalid burst out laughing at her.

Of course, he still continued to shake Estelle's trust. Even after she became the commander of the Knights of Sitora, she did the same thing until she punched him in the face.

And Khalid betrayed her trust. In the worst way to kill her.

    ***

Lucifella knelt down next to the man who was lying in front of her.

I put my hand on his back with trembling hands. The white palms are stained with red blood.

    "You, crazy bastard."

That's not it. You didn't do this. You weren't the type of person who sacrificed yourself to save the life of someone you didn't know, what was this...?

No, this is an accident. I know very well that he wasn't trying to save her.

    "Khalid, Khalid, wake up!"

He had no answer whether he had lost consciousness. Only a shifting body showed that he was alive.

It's a scratch on Lynx's tail. It won't hurt your life. But if he bleeds like this, he'll die.

"Hey, hey, you son of a bitch!"

Lucifella shook his body with a look of bewilderment unknowingly. There was no room to question his actions.

Then Lucifella was shocked by the sudden realization and stopped all action.

    What am I doing now?

This was a golden opportunity to kill Khalid. But why is he calling his name now and telling him to wake up?

Khalid's face, painfully closed, catches my eye. All the emotions I had in one moment were forgotten.

    "Why am I..."

Lucifella looked at him with a confused look and bit her lip.

The way to kill him is simple. You just have to get up and get out of the mountain. Yeah, let's go down the hill like that.

Lucifella rose, turned her back, and slowly stepped away from him.

One step, two steps, three steps.

When she tried to go back to the forest, she looked back one last time.

The figure of Khalid lying down caught my eye. Blood is still dripping from his back. If you stay like this, you will die.

Lucifella opened her eyes wide, then closed her tightly, shook her head, and tried to walk away from him.

    "Oh, damn it!"

    She shouted.

No, this isn't it! This is not an act of proper revenge. He doesn't know what he did wrong, and Khalid doesn't even know Estelle exists. That's an accidental death for Khalid, not a revenge death.

And somehow, Khalid saved Lucifella's life. Unlike Estelle, a knight who has been disgraced by death, would you allow him to "sacrifice for poor Lady"?

I could never do that. Khalid must suffer. I almost regretted it for the rest of my life.

This is vague revenge. If I have to, I will do what my heart wants most.

"I'll bring you back, so I can kill you properly..."

Lucifella ran to him, muttering nonsense. Sitting in front of him again, Lucifella found a sharp stone and tore her underskirt long.

It was made of white cotton, which would help to stop the bleeding.

I didn't expect a skirt with no utility to help in this way.

It was clean because it was an underskirt, and the material was perfect for hemostasis. If you rip it long, you could use it as a bandage.

She removed Khalid's ragged top and blood-soaked shirt.

His familiar upper body caught her eye. And the water bottle on his waist that he always carried with him on his travels.

    'He's still a well-prepared guy.'

She opened the bottle of water, moistened her cloth, and wiped his wounds clean. Then she pressed down on his wound with another fabric to stop the bleeding.

It would be nice if she could wrap the cloth around his body, but she didn't have the strength to lift his torso, so she had no choice but to do it this way.

While pressing down on his wounds, Lucifella felt complicated.

After a long push, the blood from his back stopped.

Lucifella looked up at the sky.

If it goes like this, she won't be able to go down the mountain before the sun goes down.

At that time, Khalid's body seemed to flinch. Lucifella quickly removed the cloth and looked down at Khalid.

As he moved his body, the wound opened again, and blood began to come out.

It was not long before he opened his eyes. He looked down and asked Lucifella, who was pressing the affected area.

    "How long I've been unconscious?"

    "It hasn't been long."

    "I see."

"I think I'm going to need to bandage. Could you please stand up?"

Khalid raised himself. Then he realized that the identity of the bandages was Lucifella's underskirt and made a subtle expression.

She wrapped the fabric once over his shoulder, and the second wrapped around his back as tight as she could.

Khalid's and Lucifella's faces came closer as she reached her hand to bandage his chest.

His hazy expression, as if he had lost consciousness, was exactly the same as it was back then. Lucifella avoided his eyes on it and focused only on her treatment.

The awkward and uncomfortable time was over.

    "Can you walk?"

    "Of course."

Khalid said, with a painful look on his face, wearing a torn jacket.

"The sun is setting soon. We'd better get down."

When Lucifella nodded, Khalid struggled to get up.

She unwittingly reached out. Khalid looked at it and asked, dumbfounded.

    "Are you trying to help?"

    "That's what I'm gonna do."

Khalid grinned as she whined. Lucifella's eyes widened at him.

That familiar smile that is neither pretentious nor derisive. For a moment, she felt as if he had returned to the Khalid she had known before.

In that strange mood, she turned away from his face, biting the flesh inside her lips. It was because I felt like I would say something when I opened my mouth anymore.

Taking one step at a time was not as easy as I thought. Despite his injuries, Khalid followed her lead well.

"Why didn't you let me die?"

    "What?"

    "You'd better let me die."

Lucifella's body flinched. Her mind went blank at the moment. It was as if he was talking to Estelle.

    Khalid continued speaking.

"Even if I'm in charge of cleaning up, am I not the one who harms Young Lady anyway?"

    "...."

Lucifella couldn't say anything. She couldn't think of it. Because she forgot.

Because of the various thoughts, because he was injured, it was out of her mind why he actually came here.

"That's because... I owe my life."

With the most plausible answer, Lucifella bit her lip.

It was such a silly reason. She takes revenge because her life is taken away, and she repays his kindness because she got her life.

"If it were me, I would probably have let you die."

Khalid looked like he was trying to provoke her.

Lucifella was really emotional and wanted to shout that I wanted to.

I'm Estelle, your friend, Estelle, who was killed by you!

But she replied by keeping her mouth shut and not looking at him.

"And it wasn't me who saved the Young Lady, but technically the Crown Prince."

    "What?"

"Young Lady is very smart. I was amazed that everything you said to me earlier was true. He only ordered me."

Why all of a sudden he's being honest. Lucifella could not understand his intentions.

"It's a role that appears when those guys touch Young Lady's body or endanger her life."

The way he smiled and spoke was so nonchalant that Lucifella felt disgusted.

The Crown Prince was also a really strange guy. She wondered why he was saying this out loud though.

"...Don't you think you're being too honest."

Khalid smiled again at the hostile gaze. He seemed to be in a good mood somehow.

"How detestable are you to your highness? If he kidnaped you and asked to take you to the capital secretly, you looked quite hated."

    Kidnapping? Isn't that crazy?

I knew it, but when I got confirmation from Khalid's mouth, I was dumbfounded.

    Lucifella bit her lip.

You're doing this just to kidnap her? Just because one kick last time?

I'm embarrassed to directly take issue with you, so you're taking this gloomy revenge?

It could have been a big problem to find out that the Crown Prince tried to harm the aristocratic woman by instigating others to do so without obtaining any official cause.

There seemed to be a lot of people here and there who were ignorant. Jansgaro was not a different country from Ersha.

    "Young Lady?"

"Oh, excuse me, I'm struck dumb by the unexpected frivolity."

    "...."

At Lucifella's words Khalid looked as if he had heard something unexpected. Then he lifted the corners of his mouth slightly.

"Why, did you offend the owner of that place?"

    "Well..."

Khalid muffled his speech. Lucifella looked up, but she remained silent.

After that, as they carefully descended the mountain, the two said nothing.

Lucifella was exhausted. Khalid must have also been exhausted, but he lost strength and leaned on her even more. Soon after, Khalid spoke quietly.

"....It looks like we were both destined to die."

Lucifella sighed as if she had agreed with him. This is because she started to hear baby cries here and there.

Judging by the small sound, it seemed that these were the cubs of Lynx that were killed then.

"I didn't know there were cubs."

"Because monsters can breed on their own. They seem to like this place."

He let out a low groan and put his hand to his sword with difficulty.

Yellow eyes flooded through the trees.

Although they were not larger than the Lynx they caught earlier, they were all about the size of an adult dog. It was a threat enough to them, who had been disarmed.

    "Please step back."

Khalid stood in front of Lucifella behind his back.

Even at this moment, Lucifella felt extremely displeased. She was now hiding behind Khalid's back.

The end came, and instead of revenge, she could not bear to be protected behind his back. She wanted to tell him how she felt. She and she wanted to tell him who she was.

    "Any last words?"

It just so happened that Khalid asked Lucifella.

She hesitated about what to do.

The time of hesitation was short. But as soon as she opened her mouth, a little Lynx jumped at Khalid.

At that moment, the glistening steel with red flames was visible. It was a torch.

At the same time, the screams of men and the sound of fierce fighting were heard. There was the sound of a shrill scream and a bloody smell.

    Lucifella turned her head around.

People, people to help! Lucifella was delighted.

    Euaaaaang!

But Lynx's cry was heard right behind her back, scoffing at it.

Lucifella and Khalid looked back at the same time.

A large Lynx was lowering itself to attack them.

Khalid dragged Lucifella back. But now, the distance was within the range of Lynx's attack.

One leap, and the men who are fighting will be bitten to pieces before they arrive.

Lucifella stepped out and stood in front of Khalid.

It was her habit as a knight to protect others, so she was used to protecting others even in a situation where she was in danger

Lucifella didn't take her eyes off it as Lynx took off.

At that time, a silver flash flashed.

Suddenly, a man jumped in and gave up Lynx's body with tremendous power.

    "Yeong Lady."

Blood was dripping from the man's sword.

Unlike Lucifella, a man dressed in unjustly neat clothes looked at her face.

At that moment, a bright torch light lit up his face.

His face was clearly visible in the suddenness.

Red-brown eyes that seemed to be burning red with flames could be seen.

The man in black was standing there with such a clear presence as when we first met.

Jed, Jedder Kyre Heint. Her fiancé is here.

This one panel summed the entire chapter 26 to me.

Her father is so pitiful here. I mean, his only family member, her daughter is already dead too only to get replaced by Estelle now. I think maybe he realized that but prefer to play dumb because his heart definitely can't take it anymore if he faces the truth.

I think someone asked this previously but what happened to her 4 subordinates? Spoilers said that they also betrayed her but if so, why do they also want to kill khalid for killing estelle? Or am I getting something wrong?

Err...if I remember it right, I think not all the knights participate in Khalid's betrayal. Yes, the four of them also agreed to keep Estelle in the dark about the truth of their country, but they're not in Khalid's plan. That's why when they learned of Khalid's betrayal, they aim to kill him and avenge Estelle. As the result, they're now on the run.
