i have seen this in God of Blackfield where the MC was part of the French Foreign Legion in Africa(among various terrorist busting missions), and now also in Second Life Ranker.....
whats the deal with MCs with military background and Africa?
i could understand if it was the warmongers of the US, but it aint so.....

    They call it Aprika

The same way coffe is copi.

I don't think f consonant exists in Korean language.

It is a classic case of spending your entire lives in a homogeneous and racist country.
It might not be as bad as Japan but conformity is promoted

Maybe authors think that stuff would make the MC cool or something like that, or maybe that's where their knowledge stops when it comes to military and wars

Whenever I see a fanfic with MC being a special ops or equivalent I drop it. It's just the author trying to make MC badass, usually indicates very poor story quality, especially SI's.

Uhm, because middle east is located in both Asia and Africa... so if you want the MC to have combat experience, it is a common choice?

In Korea, military service is mandatory. Though I am not sure if they send people outside or not unless you enlist. But overall, a military background is a good excuse for why an MC has real life combat skills and has no problem killing when needed.

Because Africa is a big-ass place that constantly has a conflict going on somewhere?

Would be good if they pulled something like Disco Elysium with the mercenaries and warcrimes in remote Third World. That would be a deeper character history than simply "oh he understands how to fight."

The partake in peacekeeping and other UN operations.
Current deployments are mostly middle east or Africa., IIRC Somalia is the 2nd largest deployment, With the Sudan 3rd.

Because Africa and Middle East are the only places left that has significant armed conflict that warrant UN intervention. There are conflict in other places but they are not that widespread or just a a big riots and can be handled by local forces.
