Praying and hoping the author will give them a happy ending(both alive) unlike what happened to the story of the nymph... But whenever I read and feel what Riftan is feeling, yes he is tiring.. I want him to rest... Maxi cannot give what Riftan needs. Her captive childhood will not let her to. She wants freedom but Riftan wants to protect her. Totally irreconcilable. How can you fully protect somebody who also wants to protect you.
Book 2 - Ch. 55-56 During demon city investigation, they decided to divide the team into two, led by Kuahel and Riftan. Riftan and Maxi are not in the same team. He was gonna go without saying goodbye to her, so she ran and hugged him. Note : These are MTL translated. I edited some dialogues, pronouns and spellings for a smoother read. I just looove seeing fanart of Maxi and Riftan with a family. Praying that this happens. What do you guys think their children will be like. Or what will happen while Maxi is pregnant?

I think it's mainly for strategic reasons. Like Kuahel said , earth-attribute search magic is better since it can cover wider area and is more accurate than wind-attribute search magic. So they needed Maxi to explore the wide terrain surrounding demon city. I think another reason is bc Riftan don't want Maxi to go to demon city since it's very dangerous.. but who knows
I think Riftan's best-case scenario is to explore the surrounding area so he can be together with Maxi but Kuahel Leon was probably adamant that Riftan should be the one exploring the monster city because he's an experienced knight. Also, Kuahel Leon has spent the last 3 years exploring Pamela Plateau together with his paladins and even made a map (although it is incomplete) of the place. He has a better idea of the surrounding areas than Riftan. That's probably why Riftan and Kuahel Leon had debated for so long when choosing the two groups.

It is maybe, exploring the Demon City is more dangerous so maybe he didn't want Maxi with him and look what happened to them. They barely made it but Maxi is surely safe.
The chapters on novelupdates don't follow the official chapters from the author on ridibooks. It looks like they're on chapter 120 of book 1 not 180.
