Here is what I get through Chrome : Basically sounds like he kept coming in 2nd, and his dad booted him because he was never first. but he actually had the best record in the school despite not toping any catagory. Oh course coming 2nd in a category is nothing to laugh at if there are dozens to hundreds of other students, doing that repeatedly even more so, and the more subjects the school teaches and rates on the more impressive it really is. My guess is sperm donor only cared about 1 or 2 areas and wanted the very best (tiger mom style) in that limited selection.
Dude, it's kinda weird that the father didn't realize that. Is he really an aristocrat or simply Japanesque?
It sounds like a dumb premise. Isn't being 2nd best out of hundreds or thousands something to be proud of?
I looked a couple chapters in and, based on the princess calling him put for being an idiot, it looks like it is based on some tradition he is blindly sticking to the wording of as opposed to the intention. Seemes either the family, or dukes in general are expected to be the top student of at least 1 category, and certain rewards might go by category not over all standing. Basically an extreme case of if you are not first you are last. Might not be that many subjects, but it looks like they include swordsmanship and attack magic, so I think being good at some combinations is likely very rare.
I picked it up then mind giving the chapter a read for changing something you don't understand https://valhallatls.blogspot.com/2021/07/a-boy-who-was-disowned-because-he-was.html?m=1
