Why did Japan not show off their anime at the olympics?! I was hoping we would see people like Toriyama, Oda, Kishimoto and other manga artists! I was hoping the Japanese team would be doing cosplay as popular characters! I was hoping that Goku and Sailor Moon would be flag bearers! My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined!
Aren't otaku a minority in japan? Why do they depict them as the lowest caste in the school hierarchy, labeled as disgusting pervert, etc?
Most of those athletes probably don't really know much about anime. most athletes train from a young age and rarely have any close friends growing up much less have time to watch tv. My cousin spent most of his childhood going from school to little league and from little league home to eat do home work and sleep by 9pm only to wake up 6am brush his teeth and go on a morning run with his dad. All so that he could be a baseball player He did make it into into uni and played 4 years went into AAA, but had knee injury and now he is a personal coach while studying sports medicine.
Honestly while i understand that your disappointment is immeasurable, I thought it was cool to at least nod to videogames through music.
Someone wasn’t paying attention to the music. Granted, it’s video game music, but FF and KH are pretty animeish to me.
To me i was super stoked, i know plenty of people who don't play video games and like anime so i didn't assume that they would be into that stuff.
While I can understand your sentiment, I for one completely forgot the Olympics even happened until I opened up a new tab on Chrome yesterday...
Wouldn’t it be weird if they were to show of their Otaku culture on such a large scale event especially in the way you depicted it.
I mean... Even the main director of Dragon Ball Evolution didn't really know a thing about Dragon Ball and thought that it was a super niche thingy that almost nobody knew. So like... When even people in the entertainment industry are unaware of their biggest anime at the time... It's kind of a given that they won't simply embrace it proudly as if it defined the whole nation.
i for one agree......Japan already declared manga as their national heritage, when they started their hunt for the pirates.....to not even show this in the grand stage of Olympics(dont care bout this woke shitshow in today's society) is a serious letdown.....
Why didn't Japan show off their world famous AV industry in the Olympics?!! It'll be a worldwide hit!
The Japanese government is embarrassed by Anime and Otaku culture, unless it's time for the Anime industry to pay taxes.
This is how they miss business opportunities they could’ve at least shown the sports ones. Imagine how many potential sponsors they could’ve get from Olympic advertisement. The anime industry would’ve changed by now
I'm happy that Final Fantasy music was played at the Olympics. And apparently they have been playing some anime music too.
Aye that was cool. The selection was also pretty decent. Dragon Quest “Roto’s Theme” Final Fantasy “Victory Fanfare” Tales of series “Sorey’s Theme - The Shepherd” Monster Hunter series “Proof of a Hero” Kingdom Hearts “Olympus Coliseum” Chrono Trigger “Frog’s Theme” Ace Combat “First Flight” Tales of series “Royal Capital Majestic Grandeur” Monster Hunter “Wind of Departure” Chrono Trigger “Robo’s Theme” Sonic the Hedgehog “Star Light Zone” Pro Evolution Soccer “eFootball Walk-on Theme” Final Fantasy “Main Theme” Phantasy Star Universe “Guardians” Kingdom Hearts “Hero’s Fanfare” Gradius “01 Act I-1” Nier “Song of the Ancients” SaGa series “The Minstrel’s Refrain: SaGa Series Medley 2016” Soulcalibur “The Brave New Stage of History” I would have expect stuff like ff, dragon quest and even monhun but it also had some old school rpgs in the line up.
